Chapter 5 - Getting Even
Su-Bin placed the cup of green tea in front of Seungri while sitting across from him. She sipped on her iced coffee, waiting for him to start. Unsure of how to start the conversation between the two, Seungri kept himself occupied by tapping the rim of his tea cup. Should he start with an apology or should he start with telling her he didn't remember doing it. The latter didn't sound too flattering. He wouldn't have enjoyed hearing that from someone else.
Seungri opened his mouth, ready to start the conversation but Su-Bin spoke up first. "You don't remember anything from that night right?"
Su-Bin had her own reasons for the question. She wanted to make sure he didn't remember seeing her brother at the club that night in case anyone starts asking. The bartender promised not to say a word but he wasn't the only sober one there. That kid that was with the members of Big Bang was also sober and saw everything.
"Yeah." He sighs, rubbing the back of his neck. "I was told about what I had done and I honestly am truly sorry about it."
"Only about what you did?" She asked.
Seungri found the question odd but nodded. "Yeah."
Su-Bin smiled and nodded, happy he didn't remember anything. "That's alright. Honestly, I'm not gonna do anything petty if that's what you're worried about. This can be put into the past."
"It's not like that. It's more me making up for the wrongs that I did against you." Seungri retorted "I wanted to buy you a cup of coffee to make up for it or something because I have no idea how I should repay you for what I have done."
Su-Bin was taken aback by this. In all honesty, she thought he was trying to save his own ass. She thought he worried about her suing him or coming to public with this. Never did she think he was worried for wronging her. It caused a little scoff to escape from her. Was he being serious or was he just playing with her.
"You were worried about me?" She asked completely shocked. "But you don't know me."
Seungri was worried about her because he had violated a woman's body against her will. This didn't sit right with him. However, he found it odd how shocked Su-Bin had been just from the thought of a man, one who was a stranger, worried over her. Was the feeling that foreign to her? Just the thought that someone would get shocked by something so little, caused him to feel a bit sorry for her.
"Do I need to know you to worry about your health after violating you." Seungri says, more of a statement than a question.
Su-Bin nodded and looked away, taking in his words. After a while, she turned back to him and smiled, "Thank you." She says. "It's not normal for men to worry over me. Especially those who don't know me personally."
Seungri didn't know what to say to that. All he knew was that his guess was right. "How about to lunch? This time my treat? Say, next week Saturday?"
"Thank you," Su-Bin starts, "but I have to work that day. It's one of my busiest days of the week."
Curious getting the best of him, Seungri found himself asking, "Where do you work?"
Sparing some details she gave him the truth, "I work as a dance teacher for younger kids. Literally the only dance studio that would hire a dance drop out from SAC." Su-Bin sighed while taking a sip of her drink. "How about Monday or any weekday? I'm sure you're busier than me so maybe you should pick out the date."
"You were a student at SAC?" Seungri asked and received a nod while she sucked on the straw of her drink. "What grade did you drop out? Why did you drop out?"
"Didn't think you'd be interested in by educational background." Su-Bin says to herself before giving him an answer. "Well it was my Junior year of college that I dropped out because of money. I couldn't afford tuition."
"Were you good at it?" He asks.
Su-Bin smiled. "Throughout my whole life of playing around and not being into anything too serious, dancing was the only thing I took really serious. Dancing is the most serious thing I've ever done for myself. So I would say, I'm good at it."
"What styles of dancing do you do?"
"When I was younger, I was into ballet and as I go older it was all hip-hop." She waved off his questions as if he was a close friend of hers.
Seungri stared at her for a second before a small smile appeared on his lips. It caused her face to scrunch up. Was he checking her out? If she was supposed to feel relieved she only felt the need to punch Seungri in the face for having an ugly check-her-out face.
"What? Do I have something on my face?" She asks.
"Would you like to work for me? I own a dance academy near here that needs a teacher. I will pay you." Seungri says.
"Shouldn't I be showing you my dance moves or something? You shouldn't trust me wholeheartedly." Su-Bin says shaking her head at him.
"I'll pay you as if you graduated from SAC." Seungri says seriously with his hand going across the table to shake.
"Deal." She smiles shaking his hand. "However, I needed a stable job so consider this paying me back for groping me. We are now even. Deal?" She asks, holding onto his hand.
Seungri gave her a hearty smile and nodded. "Deal."
.................
The next hour was spent between the two sitting in the cafe and conversing with one another. Su-Bin was the easy going type. Her personality allowed her to get along with anyone and it has never let her down. Even now, with Seungri, she got along well with him. He was kind and respectful which wasn't something she was used to in a man.
Seungri also had the personality to speak easily to anyone. Introverts became extroverts around him. He wasn't at all surprised by how smooth their conversation was going. He liked watching the way her eyes would wrinkle in the corner when she laughs or how her lips moved while she spoke.
"I can handle a few sour teenagers. I just wonder if you can handle how I'm gonna do it." Su-Bin says.
"You're not gonna hit any of the students right?" Seungri asks.
It caused Su-Bin to laugh but shake her head. "No. That would be illegal."
"That's true. How about the younger ones? How would you teach them?"
"Well children are supposed to be taught differently. If you scold them the way you scold teenagers, their confidence would become weaker and their will to cooperate will become harder. So with younger children it's better to be sweet." She explained. "Trust me, young children are too precious to have adults ruin their innocence so young."
Seungri liked her answer, causing him to nod happily. "Good."
"How about you? Why'd you open up a dance academy?" She asked. "Has anyone famous been attended your dance academy?"
"Yeah! J-Hope, Seo Hyerin from Exid, Winner's Jin Woo, Hyuk from Vixx." He says only seeing her blank face. "Do you know these people?"
"I've heard of their groups but not them as a person. Frankly I really don't care about these groups. I thought you would've named famous choreographers." She shrugged clearly not impressed.
"You don't care for boy groups?" He asks causing her to shrug again. "Girl groups?" He asked, reciving the same answer. "Why not? Everyone is obsessed with groups?"
"Not me. I like music specifically but could care less if they were a celebrity." Su-Bin shrugged eating into a Jjinppang that Seungri had ordered.
"Wow!" He blew out, watching her chew her food. "No wonder why you weren't at all awe struck by me."
Seungri just watched as Su-Bin nodded but continued eating. He could just tell, he's going to really like her.
