Chapter 73 - Morning Coffee
The Day Nabi left
Nabi exited Kwon Jiyong's house as quietly as possible. She didn't want to wake Kwon Jiyong up. Although she felt happy with everything between her and Kwon Jiyong, she was worried by the message she received from her brother. Which was why she was in a rush to leave his home so fast. She exited out of the front gates and began fixing herself to be okay looking to the public. She caught the bus to go back to her dorm. The sun was barely showing but the sky showed that it was about time for people to wake up for work.
Nabi barely noticed that she was smiling until the bus driver had given her an odd look. She couldn't help it, her heart swelled up just thinking about Kwon Jiyong reading her note. She was so scared to tell him in person so she took a baby step and wrote down on the note that she loved him. It made her cringe but her heart couldn't stop beating rapidly at the thought, and neither could the blood that rushed to her cheeks, painting them light pink. She would let out a little smile at the thought. The thought of her and Kwon Jiyong made her bubble inside like a little girl, she even almost missed her stop.
As soon as Nabi entered her dorm, she began stripping out of her clothes and got into the shower. Letting her whole body relax under the warm sprays of water. Her muscles hurt the most, which caused her to let out a fit of giggles in the shower as she felt her cheeks burn with a blush.
After getting out and drying off, Nabi began her journey to getting dressed. She was already running late. Her older brother had sent a message the night before to meet him in a coffee around seven in the morning. He made it very urgent as well. Which was why she was rushing.
Nabi pulled on a t-shirt and shorts. On her t-shirt had the writings Wait, What? going across it in English. She honestly couldn't remember when and where she had gotten the shirt. It was so plain and pointless, it made her sigh with content. She looked at herself in the mirror and decided her hair was doing it's natural duty. She made her way to her flats, and exited out of her dorm.

Soon after arriving to the coffee shop, she looked around confused. It was pretty crowded, even though there were about four other coffee shops on the same strip. Ignoring the crowded people, she began to scan the place looking for Tae Gyeong until she spotted him. He stood up with an obvious nervous expression, but he waved her over. She smiled and made her way there but stopped about half way. She noticed her father sitting across Tae Gyeong with his back facing her. She looked back a Tae Gyeong with an angered expression before turning around. She made an exit and continued to fast walk down the street.
"Nabi-ah!" She heard Tae Gyeong shout before hearing his loud footsteps. "Wait!" He said gripping her elbow and turned her around. "Don't leave."
"How could you trick me?!" She asked yanking her elbow free from his grip.
"I didn't trick you. I did want to meet you. Just the both of us. When dad heard I was going out to meet you, he wanted to join. I couldn't tell him no." Tae Gyeong explained.
"What does he want? Why would he want to tag along?" Nabi asked.
"I don't know. He said he wanted to come along. Just come in and talk to him. He said he'll leave after saying his peace." Tae Gyeong says.
Nabi looked at him skeptically but sighed. "I will only spare five minutes of my time with him."
"That's fine."
Tae Gyeong took hold of Nabi's hand and took the lead. While Nabi struggled to keep up since her legs were much shorter than Tae Gyeong's long ones that made his strides longer and wider. He entered the coffee shop with her behind, pushing pass the men who stood randomly around the coffee shop.
"Dad." Tae Gyeong greeted. "Nabi's here." He informed.
"Call the lady over for you to order your drink." He says looking at Nabi.
Nabi rolled her eyes and freed her hand from Tae Gyeong's grip. "I can walk to the counter myself."
Nabi left the table to go to the counter of the coffee shop. The girl who stood behind the counter caught Nabi off guard at how pretty she is. Her long brown hair extremely curly and her skin wasn't pale like Koreans but naturally tanned. She wore an apron over her clothes as her uniform. Even her makeup was amazing. With thick eyeliner and a wing at the end of both her slanted eyes. Her eyes were hazel and it made Nabi jealous at how nice they were. Her nose pierced with a small diamond adding more details to her appearance. She smiled kindly to Nabi.
"Hello, how may I help you?" She says in perfect Korean.
"An Iced Coffee please." Nabi says.
"Sure. Will that be it?" She asked and received a nod. "Alright, that will be 3,500 Won."
Sighing at the cost, Nabi cleared her throat. "Here." Nabi says handing her the exact change.
"I'll go and get your coffee. It'll be a minute or so." She smiles.
Nabi nodded and watched as she went to the end of the counter where she began to prepare Nabi's iced coffee. The machines buzzed loudly as she did the finishing touches to Nabi's drink. When she returned she smiled happily as she handed her the coffee.
"Thank you. Have a nice day." She bowed to Nabi while Nabi bowed back.
Nabi made her way back to the table with her iced coffee in her hand. She sat next to Tae Gyeong as they both faced their father. Nabi was very much uncomfortable being in front of him. Especially with the odd vibe that filled the coffee shop. After placing her drink on the table, she crossed her leg over the other and her arms across her chest as she eyed her father.
"What did you want from me?" She asked in annoyance.
Scoffing, he let out a light chuckle. "Nabi, I came here as your father." She scoffed at his reply. "Your mother has passed, I'm the only parent you have left."
"Parent?" She laughed. "Alright, cut to the chase. What do you want?" She snapped.
Nodding and rubbing his chin, he continued. "Well, if you want to cut the chit-chat short, I have one thing to say to you." He said with a short pause before adding more to his statement. "Break up with your boyfriend and come work for me."
Nabi laughed a humorlessly laugh. "You?" She asked between her laughs. "Want Me? To what? Break up with my boyfriend?" She continued in disbelief. After gaining back her humorless emotions she sighed. "Why would I break up with my boyfriend and go to work for you? I love him more than I like you. To be honest, I actually hate looking at you. I think I would rather die than to break up with my boyfriend at your command. I can't even believe you want me to work for you and see your face everyday."
A malicious laugh escaped his lips. "You're more like me than you want to believe."
"I'm nothing like you."
"Keep denying that. But I see the same spark that I have, in you." He smirked. "This however, is your decision."
"Dad." Tae Gyeong says in a warning tone.
"You see, my proposal isn't a proposal." He says looking at Nabi. "It's a demand. Of course I knew you were going to refuse me like this."
"Dad!" Tae Geyong says in disbelief.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Nabi asked.
A smirk climbed it's way up her father's lips. "I'm saying, if you refuse my demand, the people you hold closest will be held responsible for your decision. Especially that rapper."
Nabi's heart stopped. "Explain it in a way I can understand."
Intertwining his hands together he looked around the room proudly. "These men will pay your precious boyfriend a visit if you dare turn down what I demand. Just remember, the life of your boyfriend, is in your hands. I need an answer by tonight."
Nabi looked around the coffee shop. There were about ten to twelve men standing aimlessly around the coffee shop. They all wore tailored suits with sleek black hair. To the outsider, they looked perfectly normal. However, Nabi knew better. They were all gangster. What they had to do with her father, she didn't know. Or she didn't want to know.
"You dirty crook!" She gasped out, holding back her tears.
Ignoring her, he stood up and straightened out his blazer. His smirk never fell from his smug expression. He looked at Nabi and let out a loud laugh that echoed around the cafe. He turned around, still laughing, and made his exit from the small coffee shop. As soon as he left, all the men in the identical tailored suits, followed. Making the coffee shop instantly empty.
"Nabi-ah, I'm sorry! I didn't know this is what he had in mind." Tae Gyeong says.
Nabi stood up and wiped the tears that slipped down her cheeks. She ignored her brother calling her name as she left the cafe. She began making her way down the streets, not paying attention to her surroundings. Her vision had become blurred from crying. Kwon Jiyong was in danger because of her and she didn't know what to do. She couldn't work for her father under his circumstances. Breaking up with Kwon Jiyong was going too far. She missed her mom. If her mom were alive, she would know what to do. She always knew what to do. But, she was gone, so Nabi had no idea of what to do.
In her crying state, Nabi heard her phone ringing. She answered it thinking it was Kwon Jiyong.
She cleared her throat and answered it without checking the phone. "Hello?" She said into the phone.
"Oh my goodness. I didn't believe it when they told me you were crying." Nabi heard the lady sigh. "You stop that crying and prepare yourself for war. The second part of the will is ready." The lady let out a small giggle was let out.
