Chapter 65 - Will
After Nabi watched the casket slowly get dropped into the ground right next to her mom's one true love, everyone followed behind President Yang who carried a photo of Yang Hyun-Ae (Nabi's mom) as they made their way down the hill. Nabi couldn't do much to support her sister emotionally but she could be with her while they both grieved. She and Nara held hands as Nara cried as silently as possible. She felt like she was treating Nara like a child but she didn't know how else to treat her while she was grieving.
When the group reached the ground level, everyone began to give their bows and bid each other goodbye. Nabi and President Yang thanked people for attending the funeral. People began getting into their luxurious cars and driving off from the grave yard. President Yang handed Nabi the large photo of her mom and smiled.
"Don't beat yourself up for not knowing about your mother's sickness." President Yang says. "Your mom would've wanted you and your sister to be happy. There was a reason for this."
Nabi didn't know how to reply so she stuck with something simple. "Thanks uncle for helping." She bowed while holding the photo.
"We'll get going now." President Yang says.
Nabi nodded. "Goodbye guys!" She waved with a small smile.
President Yang got in and drove off with his family. Nabi looked at Nara who looked at her expectantly. Joo Won was parked further down but he was walking over to the two when Nabi's phone began ringing. As Joo Won reached the two, he began talking to Nara to help distract her by talking to her about anything so that Nabi could pick up her phone and answered it.
"Hello?" Nabi says into the phone.
"Park Nabi-ssi?" A lady's voice rang from the other side.
"Yes, this is her."
"I'm lawyer Ahn, and I wanted to see if you could meet me in my office for a moment." She says on the other line. "It's about your mother's will."
Nabi sighed tiredly. "Okay? Please text me the address." With that, she hung up the phone and looked at Joo Won and Nara. "Oppa, do you mind taking Nara for a bit?" She asked. "I have a few things to take care of before I can go home."
"Yeah sure." Joo Won says.
"I'll pick you up later Nara." Nabi says to Nara before turning to her car.
Nabi placed the large photo into the back of her car and then got into the driver's seat. She then drove off, just driving around before receiving a message for the directions to meet Lawyer Ahn. She was nervous as to what was going to be said on the will.
.........
"Hello! It's nice to see you after so long." Lawyer Ahn says. (Lawyer Ahn was the lady Nabi's mom met before she died)
Nabi bowed deeply. "I'm sorry if I don't remember." She says coming up from the bow and sitting down.
Lawyer Ahn waved her off. "How could you? You were just a baby." She smiled. "Anyway, I'm very sorry about your mom and that I couldn't attend the funeral." Lawyer Ahn took a white envelope out of the inside of her brief case that sat next to her. "I hope this makes up for it. For the funeral of course."
Nabi smiled a small smile and nodded. "Thank you. My mom would have appreciated this." She says taking hold of the envelope and placing it inside her purse. "About the will," She started as the lawyer looked at her expectantly, "when did she write up the will?"
Lawyer Ahn sighed sadly. "I understand where you're coming from but your mom knew of her sickness and was ready to leave the world. Trust me, your mom was ready. She was at peace."
Nabi looked at her mortified. "I just asked when she made this. Why are you telling me all of that?"
Awkwardly, Lawyer Ahn slowly slid a black hard cover folder off the table and opened it to read. "So here we have the will." She says handing it to Nabi.
Nabi took hold of it and began reading the will of her mother's. "Will 1:" Nabi looked up with a confused face. "What the hell does that mean?" She asks on edge since she couldn't control her emotions. "There is more than one Will?"
Lawyer Ahn nodded. "Your mom was very specific with the requirements for the will." She says.
Sighing she continued to read. "I, Yang Hyun-Ae, who resides in South Korea, claim this to be the first will given to my eldest daughter, Park Nabi. This written will, states that those following people listed on this paper will and only be allowed to know of these terms on my will. I here by state that all funeral expenses have been taken care of by my own money. Whatever money received for funeral expenses from guests may be kept and split evenly amongst my two daughters. The houses I own in South Korea, Japan, and in the United States of America is to be used by my daughters, Park Nabi and Park Nara. The houses are not to be sold or rented out in my children's lifetime or their children's children. Ever." Nabi looked at Lawyer Ahn. "How much houses does my mom own?" She asked surprised.
Lawyer Ahn smiled awkwardly. "She has a house in Jeju, Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Osaka, Tokyo, California, Washington and in Las Vegas. Also the one you currently live in."
"Why am I just hearing about them now?" Nabi asked shocked. "Why does she need so many houses? Who needs that much houses?"
Lawyer Ahn smiled. "Don't jump to conclusions. Out of all these houses your mom only bought two. The rest were given to your mom after her parents passed away."
Nabi sighed. "I never met my grandparents. They died when I was too young to remember."
Lawyer Ahn smiled. "I know. I went to their funeral. They were amazing people. You know, when you see them out in public, you'd never think they were filthy rich. They looked like a normal couple. But I've also seen them with their business face on so there is a difference between the two."
Awkward from having a stranger know her grandparents better than she did, Nabi continued to read the will. "Money is not to be spoken about until the right time. My daughters Park Nabi and Park Nara will have my money when the time is right. It must be split evenly amongst the two. Because Park Nara is currently a minor, all of my belongings that are being passed down to her, will not be in her hand until the becoming of her age and will be kept in the care of my eldest daughter Park Nabi. I here by claim this my first will." Nabi looked up with furrowed eye brows. "That's it? What about all of her bills, all her records, the company's status, her ex-husband, and state official confirmations that needs to be taken care of?"
"Your mom has taken care of all of them except for your father. She didn't want you to suffer through these things but dealing with your father was not something she could do. She tried to convince him but he stood firm like a wall." Lawyer Ahn sighed. "She raised you, living a frugal life because she wanted both you and Nara to be humble. She didn't want to raise you as a chaebeol even though she had enough money to do so."
"What?" Nabi asked. "My mom suffered on purpose?"
Lawyer Ahn nodded. "She has millions and millions of money in her bank account and none of them were touched since the divorce with your father."
Nabi ran a hand frustratingly through her hair. "What is wrong with my mom?"
"Anyways, I'll call you when the second will is ready to be revealed."
"When will I know the second one is ready?" Nabi asks.
Lawyer Ahn smiled. "Like I said, I'll contact you when the time is right." She says standing up and bowing. "I'll contact you soon."
Nabi stood up and bowed. "I'll see you soon. Even though I don't know when the second will is going to be ready."
With that Nabi left the law firm and went down the multiple steps to get to her car parked on the street. She felt empty and cold inside. There funeral was finally over and taken care of. Nabi knew the expenses of the funeral were paid off because she had gotten a call from someone who planned the whole thing. Nabi was at least happy that her mom had gotten to be put into the ground next to the man she loved.
Nabi got in her car and began to drive aimlessly around with an empty mind. Her thoughts were on something else. Most likely what was written on her mother's will and what the next one was going to be about. She needed to think. Honestly, she could care less about the money or the houses, but the thought of her mother planning to have more than one will in her name, surprised her and kept a heavy thought over mind. She honestly didn't know what's going to come next.
......

You think being an idol is hard? Being a comedian is even harder. I feel bad for a lot of these comedians because it's hard for them to climb up popularity charts which is why most of these comedians are either in their thirties or passed when they started in their late teens. They don't make a lot of money to begin with (Aside from Yoo Jae Suk) and a lot of them are married with children. Instead of only doing popular comedy shows like SNL or Gag Concert, a lot have to refer to doing radio shows, talk shows and CFs to bring in more money, not only for them but also for the company they're signed under. If you don't look (ugly or fat) or act a certain way, they're more than likely going to get less show time on shows like Gag Concert which means less money, which also means less value to their title as a comedian. And when these comedians go up on stage wearing these ridiculous costumes, messed up makeup with crazy skits, all they want to do is make people laugh and knowing that they get satisfaction just from that alone. And you know they're amazing people. I'll always be able to look up to these guys for a really good laugh whenever I'm in the dumps. They're very inspiring.
(Song Jihyo and Lee Kwang Soo doesn't count cause they're both in the acting business)
