Chapter 53 - Pandora Box

Nabi and Kwon Jiyong arrived to the dorms around late afternoon. The moment Nabi went into her dorm, she went straight to bed, too exhausted to do anything else. She slept her whole afternoon away and into the early hours of the next day, where she felt someone shake her awake.

"Nabi! Wake up."

Nabi's groaned out in annoyance with her eyes still closed. "What?"

"Nabi!" Joo Won shouted while smacking the back of her head.

"Oh my gosh! What?! Why?! What do you need?!" She snapped in one breath as she sat up from her sleeping position. "Oppa? What are you doing here?" Nabi asked with annoyance in her voice. She rubbed a hand up and down her face before paying attention to the alarm clock on her bedside table. "It's four in the morning. Did you come here to die after waking me up?"

"I know. I'm sorry but this is important. I came to show you this." Joo Won says.

Nabi groaned. "At four in the morning? Couldn't this have waited for another time? Like never? I'm tired." She whined. "Don't you have a flight today?" She asks.

"It's in two hours. But look." Joo Won says handing Nabi his phone.

Nabi sighed and took hold of it as she began reading the screen. Instantly, her eyes grew wide with shock, instantly becoming wide awake. "G-Dragon spotted out camping with family, famous models and some band mates. Daesung, who couldn't attend the gathering, was seen on set of his variety show along side his other cast members. Some fans speculate that G-Dragon lied about not having a girl friend who is famous, due to the outcome of both his and Kiko Mizuhara's relationship that had yet to be confirmed and only speculated. Soon led to the fallout of both unfollows on SNS. Fans believe that, due to their relationship outcome, G-Dragon wanted to keep his, now, model girlfriend a secret. Other fans claimed that these models are friends of Kwon Dami, G-Dragon's sister, and were just there to hang out without any relations towards the BigBang leader. However, Dispatch has spotted this person (Photo of Nabi) who had fit the blurry and unclear description of G-Dragon's earlier photos with an unknown female in the park. It was later revealed that the identity of the girl in the park with G-Dragon and with him at the campsite is Park Nabi, a former member of Gem who disbanded shortly after debut due to her own disappearance from their debut stage. It has been over ten years since she had disappeared from media outlets, making this her first appearance into the media spotlight since her band's disbandment." Nabi scrolled all the way back up to look for the date. "This was published on Saturday?" She asked while hyperventilating.

Joo Won placed his hands over her shoulders and squeezed them lightly. "Look at me. Breath. In and out. You need to breath." He demanded, waiting for Nabi to turn her head to look him in the eye and do what he commanded her to do. "Calm down. You need to calm down. You're going to have another panic attack."

"What am I going to do?" She says breathing hard. "They're going to do it again. They're going to come after me."

Joo Won pulled her into a tight hug, hushing her cries. She cried into his chest as he rocked her back and forth, soothing her from her panicking body. He needed to calm her down. He hasn't seen her like this since a few days after her group's disbandment. He sighed as he felt her shivering. He thought she was actually doing better. All these years to heal and she still got like this when she sees hate messages.

"You're going to be late for your flight. You should go." Nabi says after calming down. "I'm fine." Joo Won looked at her with a worrisome expression. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me." She repeated.

Joo Won sighed and released her from his hug. "Stay home today. I'll call uncle and tell him you're not coming into work."

"I said I'm fi-"

"No. The reporters are definitely going to be hanging around the entertainment building. Just listen and stay put." Joo Won says.

Nabi sighed and nodded. "Fine. Just for today. I'll be fine. I promise."

Joo Won nodded. "Alright. I'm going now. I'll be back as soon as possible. Call me if anything happens."

Nabi nodded. "Have a safe trip."

With that Joo Won left. Nabi reached over to her phone that was next to her bags on the corner of her bed. She began pressing the unlock button only to find it dead. Groaning, she pulled out the drawer for the table next to her bed, and pulled out an extra battery. She popped the backing of her phone off and took the battery out. She placed the extra battery in and turned it on, watching her phone glow.

As soon as her home screen appeared, she noticed the numbers on her Kakao and Line. Both had 99+ in a small red bubble at the corner of each app. She opened Line first and dropped her phone on the bed as unknown people messaged her. She began to tear up. She deleted all of the messages immediately. Not daring to look at what any of them said. She then moved onto Kakao and the same results. She began deleting people's messages from her account, hoping they would all just stop at once.

After dealing with messages, Nabi moved to the Internet. She opened up the browser and went to search for more articles about Kwon Jiyong and herslef. She was having unsettling feelings from this and it wasn't making her feel good. She needed to read more about what people were thinking and saying. She opened another article and read.

"Park Nabi, former member of Gem, speculated to be dating, leader of BigBang, G-Dragon. Nobody knows how or why they met but our resources say that Park Nabi is often seeing entering and exiting YG Entertainment and dorms for YG Artists. No confirmed news of why she spends most of her time in YG Entertainment, but fans are guessing she's trying to make a comeback into the industry and is signed under YG Entertainment." Nabi furrowed her eyebrows at the lie. "That's not even close." She says frustratingly as she scrolled through the comments of the article.

[+ 686, - 51] I remember Gem. They were really good at singing and dancing. It's sad that they disbanded because the leader is irresponsible."

[+ 233, - 109] I don't even know who she is. Why is she so important?

[+ 382, -48] Wow, YG Entertainment continues to add useless artists into the company.

[+ 600, -203] Gem! I was so excited for their debut. I remember all of their names and position because I watched each episode of their show. That's how into them I was. I'm glad that she's back into the light. I thought she died or something.

[+ 590, -120] Is nobody concerned about Jiyong oppa dating a nobody? He deserves so much more.

Nabi let go of a large breath as she read comment after comment. Just when she was about to put her phone down, it rang, indicating a message. Slowly, she clicked on the Kakao icon and sighed in relief as she saw a red ball, indicating an unread message, next to her sister's name.

Nara:
Unni, what is happening? Girls at school are mad at me because you're dating G-Dragon. They're starting to get annoying. Is it okay to fight in school? Lee Soon Shin wasn't afraid of the Japanese, neither am I.

(A/N: Lee Soon Shin is a famous general from back then. Defeated like a lot of Japanese ships with only 12 of their own. Pretty sure I'm not accurate but whatever.)

Nabi sighed for the hundredth time. She decided not to reply to Nara. Knowing she didn't really need to know the details about her problems. She was glad Joo Won came by to let her know about the situation though. She didn't want to leave for work and get side blinded by the information. She just didn't know what to do. The media was bringing up her past and she wanted that part of her life behind her. Where it belonged.

A few hours later...

"I saw the articles. Are you alright?" Kwon Jiyong asks, entering her dorm and cupping her face to see if she was alright or not. "I'm so sorry." He says pulling her into his chest.

Nabi shook her head while wrapping her arms around his waist. "It's not your fault." She says muffled by his chest.

Nabi's phone sat in her room on the bedside table. From the living room where both Kwon Jiyong and Nabi stood, they could both hear the vibrations of her phone going off. Kwon Jiyong stared into the direction of her room in shock at hearing it continuously vibrate.

"How long has it been going off?" Kwon Jiyong asks.

"It started an hour ago. I don't know how everyone found out but they know about the whole thing. The whole Gem thing." Nabi explained.

Kwon Jiyong let got of Nabi and went into her room. He found her phone sitting on her bedside table, continuously vibrating, indicating incoming texts. He took hold of the phone and popped the back open, takin the battery out. He looked over at Nabi who watched him intently. He sighed.

"I'll get you a new phone and a new number." He says. "These immature VIPs." He says.

Nabi shook her head. "A majority of them were fans of Gem. Not much VIPs had messaged me and when they did it was saying stuff about how you deserve better and that I better not break your heart." She says sofly. "A lot of the messages are from people who were fans of Gem."

"I'll get you a new phone." He repeated. "I told President Yang that you won't be able to go to work for a few days. He agreed, seeing as how a lot of reporters are outside of the YG Entertainment building. Even in front of the dorm."

Nabi sighed. "I'm going to work tomorrow." She said.

"No you're not. I just told you there are reporters outside of the dorm and the YG Entertainment building. I don't think they're here to hear about our relationship. They want to know about you and Gem." Kwon Jiyong says angrily.

"I can't just hide. I did that when I left the group. It didn't help. I have to deal with this head first or it's not going to go well for me." Nabi sighed. "How did this happen in the first place?" She asked herself.

Kwon Jiyong sighed. "Dami Noona said it was Victoria's fault. She posted a picture on her SNS saying something about camping with my family and reporters immediately came running and ended up capturing you along with everyone else. President Yang said he claimed over a hundred photos from magazine companies illegally taken over the weekend."

"How can things get so messed up in only four day?" Nabi sighed. "I'm just going to stay inside for today. You can go to work." Nabi says.

Kwon Jiyong shook his head. "I want to stay with you though."

"I'm not a baby." She says loudly. "You need to go to the company. Aren't you composing a song for Lee Hi?" She asks.

Kwon Jiyong sighed and closed his eyes. "Fine. I'll get going. I'll call you the moment I'm done."

Kwon Jiyong stood up and stood in front of Nabi. Slightly leaning over, he gave her a quick light kiss before leaving her side. Nabi heard the front door close, hearing the playful tune of the automatic lock as it did so. She looked at her phone that had the backing and battery off and sighed at Kwon Jiyong's temper. She sat down, took her phone and returned the battery to where it belonged before finally closing the back.

She pressed the button and waited for it to turn on. Ignoring all the messages that came flooding in, she went to her phone dial and held down on the one until it began ringing. Nabi sighed as she placed her phone next to her ear.

"Nabi-ah." Her mom's sweet voice rang on the other side.

Just hearing her voice made her tear up. "Mom." Nabi said.

"What's wrong? Why do you sound like you're dying?" She asks.

Nabi gave a light chuckle at her statement. "I'm always so obvious." She sighed. "Nothing. I want to come over this weekend. You're going to be there right?"

Nabi really wanted to be with her mom. She really needed to see her mom. After not seeing her for two weeks straight, she could already feel the feelings of being homesick. Her mom is her home. She was worried too because her mom sounded sick. Her voice sounded weak. She wanted to be back with her mom and have that feeling of being protected and loved. She needed to be put back into her comfort zone and that's wherever her mom is.

"Sorry sweetie. My friend pushed the date back because the preppreparation isn't yet completed. I have to stay and help probably one or two more weeks." She says.

Nabi felt tears slip down her face at hearing she won't be able to see her mom. "That's okay mom. Maybe next weekend I can come and help." She says holding back a sob.

"That sounds alright. I'll talk to you later because I have to help pick stuff up at a store. Whatever is bothering you, I need you to be strong and not look for me when you're feeling weak. I need you to do that for me. You can do that right?" Her mom says hiding her sobs as well. "I can't alway be your source of strength Nabi. You have to be your own source of strength. I know you're strong enough to handle anything. You need to be able to be strong enough for Nara and yourself. On days you can't come to me or see me, you need to think and remember that you're your own strength. Not me. You need to be more confident in what you do. Don't let others look down on you. Don't be a pushover. If you want something take it. If people are telling you mean things, you put them in their place. Mom isn't going to be here forever. I can't protect you all the time. Now promise me you can do that."

Nabi nodded with her eyes blurring over with tears. "Okay mom. I promise I'll do that. I'll try." She says feeling like a toddler.

After hanging up, Nabi shut her phone off and let herself cry. Her mom saw through her like a piece of glass. She knew exactly what to say and Nabi hated it when she did that. Her mom was showing her some tough love and she hated it. She just needed her mom to hug her and tell her everything is going to be alright. Her mom is her source of strength and she knew she wouldn't be able to find any in herslef. She couldn't even handle the responsibilities that come with dating Kwon Jiyong.

......

It's going to start getting intense from here on guys. Buckle your seatbelt hahaaha.
