Chapter 49 - Morning Routine

As the morning sun began to light up the large white material of Nabi's tent, she felt herself starting to feel more awake. The bed in the tent felt much more soft than she had expected it to be. It literally felt like a foam mattress floating above a gentle water. She didn't even remember falling asleep. She didn't even want to start on how soft the blankets were. She had to admit, glamping is way better than real camping.

"Are you awake?" Nabi looked over to the opening of her tent to see Kwon Jiyong entering. "We're setting up breakfast. You should go freshen up. The models all woke up three hours earlier to get the restroom first. It's not crowded anymore."

Nabi smiled at his sincere attitude towards her but smirked when a thought came to her mind. "Why do you know about the models waking up three hours early?" She asks.

Kwon Jiyong scratched the back of his neck. "You know that pervert Seungri. He told me." He says truthfully. "Are you jealous?" He asks with a smirk.

Nabi rolled her eyes. "Of course not. You can have her. You can have all of them if you want. We can break up right now if you want to."

Kwon Jiyong raised a brow. "What did you say?"

With that he jumped onto Nabi's bed and began attacking all the spots that are automatically known to be the most ticklish spots. She squealed and began laughing loudly while trying to kick him off. Kwon Jiyong felt himself laughing as well. He liked seeing her so carefree and confident. She had become much more comfortable around him. Her loud laughter made his heart warm up.

When she finally managed to push him off, she was heaving heavy breaths. "You're so mean."

"Who knew a butterfly could be so ticklish." Kwon Jiyong teases as he started fluttering his fingers.

"Stop." She said trying to sound serious but it was obvious she was trying to hold back a smile.

"I would love to kiss you right now. But you have to brush your teeth." Kwon Jiyong says.

Nabi grunted in offense. "Get out." She says whacking him with a pillow.

Kwon Jiyong began laughing while running out of her tent. Nabi sighed and stood off her bed with a large grin. She began stretching out her back. She went to the lounge area where she had left all her belongings and took hold of a small bag with all her toiletries.

Nabi wore a large t-shirt, one she has not recollection of how she received it, and oversized sweat pants. She slipped off her house slippers and slipped on her crocs. She began yawning as she exited the tent and made her way to the facilities.

Nabi hadn't even noticed that Kwon Jiyong's mother was watching her from afar. She had her eyes glued on the tent since she saw Kwon Jiyong leave it. However, she had a small smile of disbelief of Nabi's visuals. She was glad her son wasn't going after looks. Nabi wasn't ugly but if Kwon Jiyong was alright with the way she was dressed now, she figured it had to be because he genuinely liked Nabi. She did want to get to know Nabi more if this is the outcome of everything.

...

As Nabi exited the bathroom stall, she flinched back in shock when she noticed Bae Jang Mi crouching on the counter of the bathroom sink. One of her long sleeved rolled up to her elbow as she stared at herself in the mirror. A small white plastic container sat next to her as she looked in the mirror.

"What are you doing?" Nabi asked.

Bae Jang Mi looked at Nabi through the mirror. "Uhm..." She says with an awkward laugh. "I tripped down a hill and now my elbow is bleeding."

"Oh my gosh, are you alright?" Nabi asks as she went to Bae Jang Mi's side.

"Yeah. I'm just patching it up." Bae Jang Mi replies. "Just don't tell Seung-Hyun about this because if he finds out I tripped again, he's going to flick my forehead."

Nabi awkwardly nodded. "Alright. Do you need help?"

She shook her head. "Believe it or not, this happens often." She laughs. "I can handle it."

After finishing up, Nabi left the bathroom with Bae Jang Mi still crouching on the counter, tending to her wounds. She found Bae Jang Mi and her husband to be really odd. With the whole flicking of the forehead. They were indeed an odd couple.

"Hey Nabi." Nabi looked up and spotted Min Hyorin smiling at her.

"Good morning." Nabi bows slightly.

"Aye~ We're friends now. I know I haven't been around much but I'm spending a lot of time with Youngbae." She smiles. "Once he starts working again, I will barely see him."

"I know right?" Nabi smiled.

"So how do you like his parents so far?" Hyorin asks. "Sorry if it seems like I'm intruding."

Nabi shook her head. "No it's fine." She smiled. "It's not really my place. I think they should like me first before I make a judgement. I also feel like I don't know them well enough."

Hyorin patted Nabi's arm. "Don't sweat it. His parents are very sweet."

"Nabi-ssi?" Nabi looked behind Hyorin to see Kwon Jiyong's mother.

Nabi bowed politely. "Hello. Good morning."

"Hello." Hyorin smiles and bows to Kwon Jiyong's mother. "I'll head to the bathroom. I have to help that cluts." She says to Nabi and bows to Kwon Jiyong's mom before leaving.

Nabi smiled and nodded before turning back to Kwon Jiyong's mom. "Do you need help with anything?" She asks.

"I wanted to see if you could accompany me to the store. I wanted to buy some supplies for tonight's campfire." She says to Nabi.

Nabi smiles. "Yes of course. Just let me change and place my things down."

"Alright, meet me in the parking lot." She says.

Nabi went off quickly. She didn't even know but this was her first test given by Kwon Jiyong's mom. She wanted to see how long Nabi would make her wait in the parking lot while she got ready. Knowing how girls got ready for things with makeup and outfits, she expected to be waiting for awhile. As she stood by her car in the parking lot, she was waiting for almost a whole minute before Nabi walked out wearing a simple t-shirt and shorts. Her hair slightly frizzy from her movements during her sleep and then from trying to brush it out but kept down in natural waves. Kwon Jiyong's mom was shocked the most about her bare face. Although it was slightly swollen, she looked good bare as she did with makeup.

"Sorry for making you wait so long. I couldn't find my t-shirt." Nabi says.

"It's alright let's go while my husband cooks breakfast." She says.

Nabi climbed into the passenger seat of a white truck that Kwon Jiyong's mother pointed to. Nabi put on her seat belt as Kwon Jiyong's mom started the car. As they drove down the road, they drove in silence. Nabi felt awkward but she couldn't do anything about it.

"How long have you known Jiyong?" She asks suddenly.

Nabi pulled her lips into her mouth before answering. "Over seven months I believe."

"And how long have you been dating?" She asks.

"For three or four months." Nabi answered obediently.

"Did you ask my son to date him with the intention of rubbing off some of his fame?" She asked. "Please don't be offended. It's a questions I even ask his friends."

Nabi didn't answer the question right away. She was trying to think of the proper way to answer this question. A proper way without beyond disrespectful or taken the wrong way.

"I can reassure you, I'm not after his fame or money." She starts. "He asked me to date him the first and second time. I would never want to try and date him for money or his fame."

"First and second time?" She asks genuinely curious. "Why did he ask twice?"

"I turned him down the first time." Nabi says nervously before she began to rant for an explanation. "It was a few months since I've met him. We barely knew each other. I wanted to stay friends so we can get to know each other better before jumping into a relationship. But he was like I'm selfish. Let's date. And I was still a little worried but he said that we can get to know each other while we dated. Also he took me to this expensive restaurant and I didn't like it because I don't even spend that much money within a month. I'm also terrified of VIPs, so that also had something to do with it. It wasn't because your son wasn't good enough. I just....I just, I don't know." She said in one breath.

"Oh my gosh." Kwon Jiyong's mom says pulling into a store. "Oh my gosh." She repeated but this time she burst into laughter. "My son," She says between laughs, "was rejected!" She says continuing on with her laughter.

Nabi sat their twiddling her thumbs nervously in her lap as she gave an awkward laugh. "Why are we laughing?" She asks through her fake laughs.

"You have no idea!" She says. "My son's pride must have been so hurt." She says laughing again. "I'm sorry, you must be so confused."

"No. It's nothing to apologize for." Nabi says softly.

"Let's go in and I'll explain."

Nabi nodded and unbuckled her seatbelt. She got out, following Kwon Jiyong's mom into the store. Nabi took hold of a cart while she continued to follow her around the store. They instantly went into the snack aisle. Kwon Jiyong's mother began piling snack after snack into the cart. Nabi just watched in amazment. She shopped without even checking the price.

"You know, Jiyong has a lot of pride in himself." She says. "He believes that he's able to achieve whatever he wants if he puts hard work into it." She says.

"I know. I've seen him work before. He works really hard." Nabi says with a smile.

"So you've seen it before. The glint." She asks and Nabi gave a wide smile and nodded. "Well you see, I found it funny because the only thing he ever had come easy to him were women." She says.

Nabi suddenly felt uncomfortable. "I also know that as well."

"You're probably the fourth one he's introduced me to and you're the first person who turned him down. Because you didn't know him well." She smiles. "That's a good thing." She says lightly bumping her shoulder into Nabi's shoulder.

"Oh..." Nabi says awkwardly.

"Those girls. I knew it was never going to last long. When I asked them about coming to accompany me to the store, the first one came but I found out she was only using my son. The second made me wait in the parking lot for over ten minutes, so I left without her. The third one didn't even want to come along because she was 'busy'." She sighed as they pulled up to the register.

After purchasing the items, Nabi continued to follow behind Kwon Jiyong's mother like a lost goat. She began helping load the back of the truck with groceries. They were happy that it was nice and sunny day so the groceries were safe in the back. They got into the truck and headed their way back to the campsite.

"It wasn't all just camping. One of the girls we too with us to a beach and another we went to a hotel overseas." She smiled. "I actually like you."

Nabi smiled to herself with a light blush. "Thank you. You don't know how scared I was to meet his family. I've never went through this process."

"Of meeting your boyfriend's parents?" She asks.

Nabi nodded. "I never had a boyfriend before. Not a serious one anyway."

"How? You're so pretty." She says.

Nabi's cheeks burned red. "No. My looks are nothing really. I think I was just too into reaching my goals to becoming a singer."

"You said you tried it out but it didn't work out?" She asks.

Nabi nodded. "Yes. I've been a trainee since my early years of middle school. By the time I was in my second year of high school, I had already achieved my GED and didn't need to attend school anymore. They also placed me in a group. So the people I knew were very limited. Not having a boyfriend is probably more understandable now because back then all I cared about was becoming a singer." Nabi sighed and breathed out an awkward laugh. "Sorry. I'm ranting on about my boring story."

"Don't worry. It reminds me of Jiyong. Who was also a trainee at a young age but he actually reached his goals. I can imagine how heartbroken you were to not be able to achieve your goal. If the same were to happen to Jiyong, I don't think he would be alright with anything he does." Kwon Jiyong's mother smiled. "Let's go. Everyone's probably wondering where we're at." She says with a smile.
