Chapter 48 - First Night
Everyone was settling into their own personal tents. Since Kwon Jiyong had reserved the whole campsite, in fear of anyone catching Nabi and him together, everyone was able to have their own private tent. Kwon Jiyong's tent was at one end of the camp while Nabi's one was all the way on the other side of the campsite. His mother's suggestion.
Nabi didn't mind too much since she was next to Bae Jang Mi and her husband. However, Seungri had warned Nabi that it wasn't going to be fun with a tent next to Bae Jang Mi and Choi Seung-Hyun's tent, especially since they're both sharing the same one. He informed that during the night is the most crucial time between a couple. Which earned him a slap to the back of the head from Choi Seung-Hyun.
"I didn't say anything wrong." Seungri says as Youngbae wrapped an arm around his neck.
"It's the way you said it." Youngbae says comforting him.
Even Kwon Dami's friends had arrived. They were all girls, who were way prettier than Nabi herself. They looked like fashion models. Nabi was informed that some of them were indeed fashion models while the others were fashion designers. All the fashion designers were workers under Dami. While the models were people she met who modeled for Dami's fashion line once upon a time.
Ji Soo and Ji Hoon arrived to the camp grounds later that day. Ji Hoon had to pick up Ji Soo who was studying late during school. He had to study with a tutor to help perfect his English. He found out that Bae Jang Mi wasn't suited to teaching anyone, anything. Ji Hoon had to convince her that it was better for Ji Soo to just get a tutor because of her lack of capability for teaching.
Once the two arrived to the campsite, they bowed politely to Kwon Jiyong's parents before going about their own way. Ji Hoon made sure Ji Soo's tent was right next to his. He didn't want him to be strolling around when there were lots of models roaming around the campgrounds.
Once everyone settled in, Kwon Jiyong's parents were calling everyone out to eat dinner. The sun had went down but the campsite was lit up with light poles that were placed, randomly, around the campgrounds. They were all invited to a field where multiple picnic tables were organized to sit everyone on one, long table. Nabi settled herself randomly down next to a girl who had named herself Violet, a model, and another girl Ahn Yoon-Hye who is a fashion designer. She did feel awkward next to them but, since everyone else was randomly placed around the table, she didn't mind either.
However, a large grin slipped over her lips as she watched Kwon Jiyong squish himself between Kwon Dami and Ji Hoon, not caring that they were in the middle of a conversation. He just wanted to make sure he sat across from his girlfriend.
Food was being passed down from one end of the table to the other. Kwon Jiyong's parents were passing down plate after plate as they piled food onto it. They informed everyone that if seconds were wanted, they'd have to get up and come to their end to receive it.
Nabi watched carefully as both Youngbae and Min Hyorin bowed their heads to pray silently to themselves. It made her smile because, she too believed that there was a god. She just didn't practice on it. She felt like she should start. She looked back at Kwon Jiyong who stared at her the whole time, and wondered if he believed in god.
Nabi started wondering all kinds of things about him. How he was like in elementary. Who was his childhood best friend? Was he a troublemaker in high school? Who is his first love? Does he still keep in contact with her? She wanted to know so much more about him. She wanted to learn everything about him. From what his dream job was when he was younger to what his current dream is. She didn't care about the big details or small details. She wanted to know everything about him. However, she felt like she was stopping herself. Nabi wanted to learn about him but she didn't want him to learn about her. She felt like a hypocrite for feeling that way.
"Why aren't you eating?" Kwon Jiyong asks, breaking Nabi's train of thoughts.
Nabi smiled and shook her head. "Nothing. I will eat well." She smiles.
Kwon Jiyong began taking pieces of kimchi and a piece of meat off of his plate and placing it onto Nabi's palte. "Eat a lot. You're too thin."
Nabi smiled. "Thank you."
They couldn't be too friendly in front of each other with other guests around. Knowing that the word could easily spread since this the people that surrounded them were all from Kwon Jiyong's world of fame. Something Nabi could never be a part of.
"Jiyong oppa, why, even in regular clothes you look amazingly fashionable?" The model, Ahn Yoon-Hye asked. "I mean, you're just sitting there but you look like you're dressed for a photoshoot."
"Ah, it's nothing. Really." Kwon Jiyong smiles awkwardly, knowing damn well that this girl is older than him and she's calling him oppa. "But let's try and keep to formal speach." Nabi wanted to give Kwon Jiyong a round of applause for his speach.
Ahn Yoon-Hye nodded with an offended smile. "I was just complimenting you about your outfit. You're also very handsome. Is that too much of a compliment for you?"
"I don't think so. I agree with you eonni. All the Big Bang oppas are extremely handsome." Violet says joining the conversation.
"I don't know what you guys are talking about. Seung-Hyun is ugly. Even in the most expensive clothings." Bae Jang Mi says with a threatening glare towards the girls. "He's actually the ugliest member so don't include him into this conversation."
Nabi hadn't even noticed her sitting on the other side of Kwon Dami until she had spoken up. She was probably really quiet because she was eating but now that she overheard the exchange between the two and Kwon Jiyong, she decided to add herself into the group chat. Meanwhile, Choi Seung-Hyun sat there with a smug smile on his mouth as he watched over his wife carefully.
"We didn't mean it in an offensive way." Violet says.
Bae Jang Mi nodded and gave a fake smile. "I know. I'm just letting you know that Seung-Hyun is ugly and shouldn't be brought up into this conversation."
Even Kwon Jiyong was thankful for Bae Jang Mi's sass. The girls talking informally to him and being disrespectful in front of his girlfriend was getting annoying. Of course they didn't need to know that Nabi is his girlfriend but they needed to at least know boundaries between strangers. He didn't want to say anything because these were his noona's guests. So, Kwon Jiyong began eating his food in peace until he felt his phone vibrate.
Nabi: Let's take a walk after we eat.
Jiyong: Why wait? Let's go right now.
Nabi: You barely ate. Eat all your food and we'll go after!
Jiyong: Fine. 😒
Nabi smiled down at her phone while shaking her head. She needed him to eat a lot more. He is too skinny and he needs to gain weight. Putting food on his plate just after he gave her food will make it weird between everyone. Especially after Bae Jang Mi had put those girls in their place.
Soon after thanking the elders for the meal, everyone went their own separate ways. Kwon Jiyong's parents informed them about the campfire that was going up in twenty minutes. Nabi sighed wondering what it was that they were going to be doing, now. She just wanted to stay with Kwon Jiyong for the night.
Kwon Jiyong followed behind Nabi as she made her way towards an empty field. He walked up to her and took her hand into his own. He smirked as he felt her flinch in shock at his sudden appearance by her side. She placed a hand over her heart and sighed once she noticed it was Kwon Jiyong.
"Goodness you scared me." She sighed.
"Sorry." He says with no actual meaning behind it. "Come, let's go towards the darker end of the field."
Before Nabi could protest, Kwon Jiyong dragged her through the grassy field. They could hear grasshoppers go instantly silent as they passed them. Nabi noticed how far away they were going from the camp.
"Where are we going?" Nabi questioned.
"Just wait. We're almost away from the campsite." Kwon Jiyong says when he finally came to a stop. "Look."
"We're in the dark." Nabi says.
Kwon Jiyong shook his head. "Look up."
Nabi looked up to the black sky and a small gasp of amazement escaped her lips. In the darken sky, glistened bright stars of all shapes and sizes. Scattered randomly in the sky. They shined down on them, lighting the dark area slightly. She was mesmerized. Even in the countryside, this much stars weren't able to be seen because the countryside still had lights. However, they were in an open field that was dark. That made seeing the stars better. She couldn't believe how much stars she was looking at.
"Wow." She sighed. "How did you know about a place like this?"
Kwon Jiyong sighed. "When we camp, I come here a lot."
"Because you wanted to see the stars?" Nabi asked.
"No." He says shaking his head. "To hide from my parents that I smoked."
Nabi glared at him and lightly whacked his arms. "You need to quit."
Kwon Jiyong rolled his eyes. "I came here to show you the stars. I don't want to argue."
"I'm not arguing with you. I'm just saying." She said. "Let's just enjoy the stars."
"Here." Nabi looked over to Kwon Jiyong who took off his jacket, and placed it over the field. "Sit."
"And who is going to fit on that?" Nabi asked.
Nabi watched Kwon Jiyong sit and patted a spot for her to sit down too. She sighed and placed herself between his legs as his legs lay flat on either side of her. Half his butt was on the grass, but he didn't mind so long as Nabi was on his jacket completely.
Kwon Jiyong wrapped his arms around her, as he placed his chin on her shoulders. Together, the two stayed silent with Nabi's head tilting back as she watched the stars and Kwon Jiyong, with his eyes closed in content with the feeling of Nabi so close to him. He could feel her sigh in contentment at just looking at the stars. Feeling her relax into him, he too felt content just by sitting next to her.
"What's the name of your first love?" Nabi asks.
Kwon Jiyong scoffed. "Is that a question you really want to know?" He asked as he felt Nabi nod against him.
"Yeah. I want to know everything. Do you have a religion? Who's your bestfriend in high school." Nabi asked cautiously, hoping he didn't ask anything about her.
"I'll tell you everything if you tell me everything." Kwon Jiyong says. "Just tell me and I promise I will not judge you for anything."
Before Nabi could speak, Seungri's loud voice was heard from across the field. "Hyung! Hyung!" He shouted. "You guys are too far! I'm not walking to you guys! Mom says it's time for the campfire! You better hurry so you two can sit next to each other!" He shouted across the field.
Nabi chuckled and stood up. Turning around to help Kwon Jiyong who stuck his hands out for her to grip tightly. Nabi tried her hardest to pull him up but he was purposely making it hard for her to help him. He kept a sly grin as he watched Nabi struggle. He sighed and just pulled her down, feeling her instantly fall on him as he laid back into the grass. He placed his hands behind his head with a sloppy grin playing at his lips.
"What are you doing?" Nabi snapped. "Your mom is waiting for us."
Kwon Jiyong smirked. "Kiss me."
Nabi stared at him to see if he was being serious or not. When she noticed he hadn't blinked, or removed the smirk from his lips. She confirmed that he was being 100% serious about it. Contemplating, Nabi slowly, dipped her head until she felt the surface of his soft lips touch her very own. She instantly began moving her lips as he did to. She could feel the burn in her cheeks despite the cool air that ran over them. Her eyes had been shut but she even shut off the world. The loud grasshoppers weren't heard as her and Kwon Jiyong's lips moved in almost the perfect synchronization. A smile broke out over Nabi's lips. She felt happiness bubbling up inside of her.
Once they broke apart, Kwon Jiyong stretched out his neck and gave her a light and quick kiss on her lips. "Now, we can go." He smiles.
"Stupid." She says with a wide grin.
.....
