Chapter 38 - Dinner Time

Nabi was nervous with Kwon Jiyong entering her house. He was nervous too but he didn't show it. His and Nabi's hands were intertwined as they entered Nabi's home. They both slipped off their shoes and entered the warmth of the house that was filled with the smell of food.

Nabi led the way to the dining room. He was surprised by how big and modern the house was compared to other houses he had passed in this town. It looked brand new and well built. Even the inside appliances were all modern. He couldn't stop looking at all the photos that hung around the house. A lot of them were of Nabi and Nara and some were of their mom. Even Joo Won was in some of the photos he had passed.

After finally arriving to the dining room where Nabi's mother was setting plates down with side dishes on them, while wearing an apron, Kwon Jiyong became more nervous. He couldn't believe he was meeting Nabi's mom. He also couldn't believe how much the two looked alike. They were almost identical, if it weren't for light wrinkles gracing the area around her mom's eyes and mouth that were noticeably present compared to Nabi's youthful face.

"You must be Kwon Jiyong." She smiles.

Kwon Jiyong approaches and bows with a hand out. "Hello, nice to finally meet you." He says in a bow.

Nabi's mom chuckles while patting his back and shaking his hand. "You're prettier than you are in magazines." She says.

"Mom." Nabi scolds.

"Nothing is wrong with being pretty. I tell Joo Won that he is pretty all the time." She says pointing to Joo Won who had already started eating.

"Thanks mom." He says in an aegyo tone with his mouth filled with food.

"Okay, let's eat." She smiles.

Kwon Jiyong sat next to Nabi at the dinner table while her mom sat at the head. Ignoring Joo Won's eating, she intertwined her hands and began to pray over her food. Thanking the Lord for the meal she was able to cook. Of course, Kwon Jiyong had his head bowed while Nabi mouth to Joo Won to stop chewing so loudly.

"Amen." She smiles. "Okay. Let us dig in."

During their meal, Nabi's mom began asking a lot of questions about Kwon Jiyong. First about work. She wanted to know what he was currently doing, what band he is in and how much members were in the band. She wanted to know what position he held and if he could sing or not. Meanwhile, Nabi could just die of embarrassment from her mom's over the top questions being spewed out.

"So how much money do you make?" Nabi's mom asks.

"Mom!" Nabi gasps out. "Don't answer that." She says looking at Kwon Jiyong. "We don't have to know that." She says turning to eye her mom.

"I hear he's one of the most riches idols in Korea." Joo Won says.

"Oppa!" Nabi scolded.

Awkwardly, Kwon Jiyong rubbed his arm. "Yeah, I would say I make quite a lot for an idol."

"I'm just trying to see if my daughter is with someone good. Of course money isn't everything, but I also need to know that you're stable in both your career life and your personal life." She said explaining her actions.

"Mom. This isn't a marriage meeting." Nabi says while covering her redden cheeks.

Kwon Jiyong smiled at Nabi. "It's alright." He then turned to her mom and nodded. "I'm working on the personal life thing. Most of my personal life consists of my work so I'm still learning how to separate the two." He says.

She nodds. "That's good to hear. I'm not going to be here forever..."

"Can you not say that?" Nabi complained in the middle of her mom's speech.

"....to take care of her or her sister. I need to know she's surrounded by people who care about her." She finished.

"What am I, a fly?" Joo Won pipes in. "I'm here too mom." He says offended by her statement.

She chuckles. "Of course I know. You're always there for Nabi." She smiles at Joo Won.

....

After the delicious dinner, Kwon Jiyong insisted on helping with the cleaning. Of course Nabi was the only one arguing about it but Joo Won and Nabi's mom couldn't be more happier. Nabi began cleaning the table while Joo Won and her mom headed to the living area where they began to battle it out with a Just Dance game on a game console. After she finished cleaning, she stood by Kwon Jiyong who had been stacking clean plates on the dish rack to air dry and she just watched him. He noticed her too.

"May I help you?" He asks, washing the last cup.

Nabi smiled. "Just keep washing dishes." She says while he smiled.

"You find this sexy?" He questions as he shut the water and dried his hand on the apron he wore.

Nabi nodded. "You can never go wrong with a man who is cleaning." She smiled.

Kwon Jiyong slipped the apron off his shoulder and stared at Nabi. She made a nod towards the back and he went to stand by her. They both walked side by side as Nabi led the way to their back parlor where it was open to the outside but it had an electric warmer in the middle. Nabi made sure to turn that on before they sat on a bench and looked out into the darkness that surrounded the town. Not a lot of street lights in the town and it's always been like that since Nabi was a trainee. She didn't mind too much. She found it easier to see stars during the night without say many lights.

"Do you want to meet my mom too?" Kwon Jiyong asks.

Nabi turned her head to look at him so fast, he was surprised that she didn't break her neck. "What?"

"Yeah. I figured since I met yours, you should meet mines." Kwon Jiyong smiles.

"What about siblings?" Nabi asks.

Kwon Jiyong smiles. "I'm close with my sister. You probably can meet my dad too."

Nabi sighed a nervous breath. "Wow. What if they don't like me?" She asks.

Kwon Jiyong shook his head. "They will. Trust me."

Nabi sighed. "Alright. We'll do it after your promotional period is done than we can go. I've made up my mind. I can do this. It shouldn't be hard. Even if your mom doesn't like me. I have to endure it."

"You're ranting." Kwon Jiyong smiles. "Don't worry. My parents aren't like that."

Nabi looked at him and sighed. She let herself lean into him as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. They sat quietly like this for awhile, just letting themselves be in each other's presence. Nabi's arm slipped behind Kwon Jiyong's back as she hugged herself into his side. She liked the warmth that his body gave off as well as his cologne that wasn't too heavy. It was like he had the perfect formula to put on just the right amount of cologne.

"What are your parents like?" Nabi asks.

Kwon Jiyong smiled. "They're amazing. A little embarrassing here and there but they're very supportive. They've been through quite a lot to support my sister and I doing what we wanted to do. They made sure we achieved our dreams but by also studying and working hard. They installed that in me at a young age. Dreams are only achieved by working hard and being smart. Of course they added the last part because they didn't want us falling behind on our studies." He chuckled. "How were you in school?"

Nabi sighed. "I quit school to become a full time trainee. I worked hard as a trainee and then when I got home, exhausted, I would work on getting my high school diploma so I could take online courses for college. My mom had told me countless of times to quit CJ Entertainment and join YG Entertainment but I couldn't. You know how my uncle could be. Although he looks mean and some times acts it too, he has a soft spot. He wouldn't push me to my full potential because I'm his niece. I knew that. Which was why I didn't join YG Entertainment."

Kwon Jiyong smiled while petting Nabi's hair with his free hand. "I think you would've made it bigger than Big Bang if you were still in the music industry."

Nabi scoffed. "No way. Our music wouldn't have impacted the music industry the way you guys have. You guys are amazing."

"Have you heard and listened to any of our songs?" Kwon Jiyong asks.

Nabi shook her head. "Besides the recent ones, I don't think I've listened to all of Big Bang's songs." She smiled. "To be honest, I haven't listen to any korean music since leaving for America."

"Well, that problem needs to be fixed. A lot of groups have debuted since you left and they make amazing music as well." Kwon Jiyong suggests.

"I know. I see a ton of posters around with-" Nabi was cut off when the back door opened.

"Hey Dragon, we need to go. I got an important meeting tomorrow." The two looked up at Joo Won who had rushed out. "It's already ten. We're going to arrive there pretty late. We should get going now."

Kwon Jiyong nodded. Both of them stood up and made their way through the house. Nabi's mom was near the door, waiting to see Kwon Jiyong out. He did another ninety degree bow and thanked her for having him over. He was very thankful towards Nabi's mom and her kindness. Nabi followed the two out but Kwon Jiyong stopped as Joo Won continued off the porch and to the parked car.

Kwon Jiyong took a step down the porch steps and turned around to face Nabi. They were now seeing eye to eye since Nabi was on a step higher than him. She smiled at him and he did the same.

"After my promotional period." Kwon Jiyong says.

Nabi nodded. "After."

He went up on his tiptoe and kissed Nabi's forehead and pecked her lips right after. He smiled and cupped her cheeks that had redden since she wasn't expecting him to kiss her.

"I'll see you later." Kwon Jiyong says before turning around and walking to the car.

Joo Won poked his head out of the car and made a heart with his arms above his head. "Goodbye my lovely wife with man feet!" Joo Won shouted from his passenger seat.

Nabi chuckled. "I love you, you homeless hobo!" She waved.
