Chapter 22 - Contemplation
Kwon Jiyong sat in his fitted suit. He yawned tired from staying up and waiting for Nabi to text him. When she finally did, she had told him to rest well and to do good during the interview. The interview was a simple one that would help promote his album before it's released. Everyone knew it was him who was coming back with a solo but now the interview would give a little insight on what the album was all about. When the interviewer finally walked in, Kwon Jiyong stood up and shook the interviewer's hand.
(Interviewer) (Kwon Jiyong)
"It's been awhile." Kwon Jiyong smiles.
"It's good to see you. You look well." The interviewer smiled. "Shall we get started?" He asked Kwon Jiyong.
"Yes." Kwon Jiyong said eagerly.
"Well it's been awhile since you've done any solo albums or songs. What's the difference from creating an album from back then and from now?" The interviewer asked.
"I'm getting older every year. I'm learning something new all the time. It's always a different experience for me, emotionally and mentally, when writing an album."
"Emotionally and mentally, what do you mean by that?"
"I have different emotions when writing the lyrics. I also have a different mentality while coming up with this up coming album."
"And if I'm correct, the name of the album is 나지 지나: Born Through. What does that mean?"
"This album is done differently from the other albums from the past. I didn't do any collaborations on any of the tracks for this album. I've been given the chance to but this album has only me on it. Born Through is a name I've chosen to show that I'm being a the same person but born through life differently." Kwon Jiyong chuckles awkwardly at the explanation President Yang had told him to give when asked about the name of the album. "It sounds weird but that's just who I am." He lied with a light chuckle.
"That sounds like a title you would use. What do you expect to give to us through this album that hasn't been done in the other albums befor?"
"Nothing much. I planned this album and built it up just for my liking. I don't care about the negative criticism that will come from this because it's an album that I was happy with." He said then added a light chuckle. "Of course I have to get permission from President Yang first."
The interviewer laughed. "Isn't it always the same. What are your future plans that you have as a group leader for Big Bang? Any comebacks in the near future?"
"I do plan on coming back with the other members but it's all the matter of the perfect time to do so."
"What would be the perfect time? Why is it hard for you all to come back?"
"Well, with Seungri running the university, Daesung is busy with his own personal career, Youngbae is enjoying his time off especially alongside his girlfriend and even with Seung-Hyun hyung newly married to Jang Mi. It's understandable why it's so hard to come together for a comeback." Kwon Jiyong explained.
"It's hard to believe that a member of Big Bang is married. How does that affect the group? Does it affect you all in a negative or positive way?"
"It most definitely changed everything. Jang Mi is such a huge impact on, not just Seung-Hyun hyung's life, but all of our lives. Jang Mi is a vibrant disease, it's hard to get rid of her even if we wanted her gone, she wouldn't let us be without her in our lives." Kwon Jiyong chuckled.
The interviewer chuckled as well. "So the two of you are pretty close then?" He asked.
"It's a forced relationship. Jang Mi wouldn't let our relationship slip between her fingers. She loves having friends and she says it's because she grew up without friends and came into the industry without any friends. So she takes friendship pretty serious now." Kwon Jiyong explained.
"Are you dating anyone?" The interviewer asked.
Kwon Jiyong sat silently for a few long seconds before finally answering it. "It's too early to tell." He said covering his face while he smiled.
"Look at you blushing! I've never thought I'd see the day where you'd blush." The interviewer went on. "There must be a girl. Can you at least tell us if there is one or not?"
"I don't know. I'll be known as a bad person if I do say it and a bad person if I don't say it. If there is a girl or if there isn't, I wouldn't say just yet." He smiled.
...
Nabi dressed casually in shorts and a large t-shirt. She woke up late because she arrived to her hometown about five or six o'clock. She smiled at her mom who was sitting outside, preparing side dishes with the vegetables in different bowls besides her. Nabi stood up and stretched out her back, groaning loudly as she did so. She walked out of the room and went straight for the kitchen. She jumped up with a hand over her heart at seeing Nara eating bread while sitting on the kitchen counter.
"I forgot you were here." Nabi said shaking her head.
"Can you stop forgetting me. You're so mean." Nara complained.
Nabi rolled her eyes. "I can't help it. What are you doing today?" She asked.
"It's the countryside. We're doing the same thing we did yesterday." Nara said bored out of her mind. "Absolutely nothing. I don't even get good reception out here." She complained.
"I used to have fun out here. Should I call Joo Won oppa?" Nabi asked.
Nara shook her head. "Come with him next weekend. I don't leave until the weekend after."
"But your break doesn't end until a month." Nabi said.
"Try telling mom that. She also said, next weekend to take me to Seoul to stay there for the rest of my stay before I leave to go back to Japan." Nara explained.
"I can't let you stay in my dorm. There are too many famous people roaming around the building." Nabi complained.
"Uncle said it was fine when mom asked him." Nara shrugged.
"Of course he did. He's scared of mom." Nabi rolled her eyes. "What ever then. Just don't freak out when you see any famous person. You and I share the same face so people might think we're the same person."
Nara rolled her eyes. "I'm not a little girl." She said in a duh tone. "We don't share the same face. Yours is at least twenty years older.
Nabi gasped as she placed a hand over her heart. "And you wonder why I keep forgetting you. My heart hates you."
After eating a late breakfast left by Nabi's mother, Nabi and Nara left home to go play in the stream like Nabi used to do when she was younger. The stream was much more shallower than when Nabi was younger but, splashing around in the stream was fun. Until they actually got in and almost died of hyperthermia. The water was so cold both girls screamed when they jumped in. Instantly throwing the other one down, fighting to get out of the water. When laying on the rock, the two girls ended up laughing hard.
"It's almost winter. Of course the water is cold." Nara chuckled.
"I almost died." Nabi said dramatically laying flat on the rock.
"How is it dating Jiyong oppa?" Nara asked.
Nabi looked at her with a raised brow. "Oppa? You didn't even meet him."
"I'm a fan of Big Bang. G-Dragon, TOP, Seungri, Taeyang and Daesung." She said lifting a finger up for every Big Bang member she counted off. "They are all my oppa."
Nabi rolled her eyes. "Get over yourself. They're more like ahjussi to you." She chuckled.
"How could you say that?" Nara said with a hand over her heart. "Is there nobody famous to partner me up with?" She asked.
Nabi turned over and flicked Nara's forehead. "No matter who I think of, nobody would want your ugly face.
With that, Nabi stood up and started running through the village while Nara chased her. She held her hand over her forehead to ease the pain Nabi caused with her flicking. The two had been running through the dirt, laughing loudly. Nara had finally reached Nabi and took her down in the grass. She straddled Nabi's hips and began openly flicking her forehead. Nabi, being trained in a series of different fighting techniques, she put a hand through Nara's neck, wrapping around the back of it. She forcefully moved Nara by leaning her completely to the left, causing her to lose grip and fall off of Nabi. Nabi laughed obnoxiously as she lightly slapped Nara's forehead. She soon ran away causing Nara to yell at her.
"Unni!" She shouted after Nabi.
When Nabi and Nara returned home, the food their mom was preparing was being set up. She eyed her two daughters who were dirty from head to toe. She instantly started scolding Nabi who was an adult already for playing outside and getting dirty. Nara stood by her and silent laughed at her older sister getting scolded by their mom. Nabi sighed and went to her room to shower and get cleaned.
After showering, she walked out with a towel in her hair, drying it from her shower she just took. Nabi sat on her bed and looked up at the ceiling. She sighed. Her mind went roaming and it somehow got her thinking about Kwon Jiyong. She wondered how his interview was going. Somehow, she had to help her uncle who helped her and her mom in so many ways. Doing this favor for her uncle shouldn't have been argued with. Kwon Jiyong wasn't that bad of a guy. She convinced herself that even though they weren't dating for real, they were pretty good as friends. She didn't mind him being her friend even after the ordeal ends.
Nabi sighed to herself and took out her phone. She stared at the screen for five long seconds before putting her phone back down. She stared at her phone that laid in her lap, and sighed again. She picked it back up and this time unlocked it. She went to her contacts and scrolled down the screen until she reached his name. Then she sighed and put the phone back down on her lap again. Repeating the process.
"I hear a lot of sighing." Nabi jumped at hearing her mom's voice. She looked to the door to see her mom, dressed in her night gown. "Why are you sighing so much? Not even a homeless dog sighs this much."
Nabi smiled and released air through her nose. "I'm contemplating." She answered.
"On?" Her mother asked as she sat down on Nabi's bed.
"It's not something I want to openly talk to you about mom." Nabi said.
She rolled her eyes at her daughter's reply. "Does it have anything to do with that boy?" She asked.
Nabi's breath hitched. "No." She said obviously lying.
"Yah~" Nabi's mother reached over and gently whacked her in the head with her knuckles. "You think I wouldn't know my own daughter? I saw you playing tug of war with your poor phone. It's so expensive yet you treat it like that." She asked side eyeing her.
"Mom." Nabi complained as she hid her redden cheeks.
"What? I'm being honest. You're contemplating on calling him? Did you ever ask yourself why?" She asked. "I'm just saying. Nobody contemplates on calling a friend because friends are easy to call and text." She said with a sly smile. "Think about it."
With that she stood up and patted Nabi's leg before leaving Nabi's room. Nabi looked at the small dent in her bed where her mother sat. Everything her mom had told her, kept repeating in her mind. She sighed and slammed her back onto the comforts of her bed and groaned as she stared at his name on the screen of her phone.
"Kwon Jiyong." She read aloud.
