Chapter 21 - Text Me

"Again!" Nabi shouted as she sat in the front of the dance studio. "This time, do it with more of your individual personalities into it. Don't try to portray the sunbaes who sing the song. Put your own rythm into it and dance how you would dance. As for your vocals, it sounds amazing! So do it again and let's see if there is a difference." Nabi smiled.

The group she was currently training was currently doing a song by Jinusean. Nabi wanted to challenge them since they were all girls. They were being tough because the song was a song made by Jinusean. They were acting more like men rather than women. Nabi wasn't saying that girls can't do as good as boys, but these girls were doing so good where they started to sound and dance like men. She wanted to see power behind their performance. The power of a women.

"There it is. See what Maria is doing? That's her own stage presence when performing. She is showing true feminism through her movements and the way she sang the lyrics." Nabi said standing up and pointing at the group of girls who were out of breath. "There is already a Jinusean out there so there was no need for any of you to sing or dance like them. This is a man's world and we, as women, need to show that we can run it better than any man could ever. And because you're all artists, the way you voice your feminism is through your music, lyrics, dance movements and most importantly, stage presence! This is what needs to be displayed to get attention. This is what needs to be done to make it. Not only in Korea, but internationally as well." Nabi smiled proudly. "Okay young ladies, hit the locker rooms. Make sure to do those throat exercises I taught you guys to do every time after practice."

With that the girls bowed and exited the dance room with sweat dripping down their faces and down their necks. She took hold of the broom that sat tucked away in a small corner, and began to sweep the floor. She needed to clean the floor since she was the last one using the room. She was tired and it was already Friday. She was going to be driving back home tonight so she could hang out with her mom in the morning. She was arriving at her home late into the night but she'd be happy when she woke up and got to spend the whole day with her mom.

"You're still here?" Nabi looked over to the door and spotted President Yang standing there in his usual long sleeve shirt. "Aren't you going over to your mom's house?" He asked.

Nabi smiled. "The kids weren't getting it so I had to keep pushing them." She said speaking about the trainees. "What are you doing here uncle?" She asked.

"I'm always working late." He replied.

Nabi nodded. "That's why this company runs so smoothly." She sighed. "How's that situation with the company going?" Nabi asked.

"We're working on it. For now, just try and get along well with Jiyong. Right now, the only people talking are the people in the company. I need news articles and gossip pages. I believe in you." President Yang says putting a fist up. "Fighting." He smiled before exiting the room.

Nabi rolled her eyes. "That didn't help at all."

Nabi continued to clean the dance floor, picking up random clothes that were probably left behind from other dancers or idols. She left them on the chairs knowing that who ever owned those lost items would be back to retrieve them. After cleaning, she walked out of the dance studio and down the flights of stairs to reach the lobby area. As soon as she walked into the room where the trainees were at, she saw them all sitting in a circle harmonizing to a song Nabi knew really well. It was AKMU's Give Love and they were singing it amazingly. Nabi instinctively nodded her head along with the beat and at how amazing they sounded singing it together. She slowly approached them and watched from where she stood as they sang beautifully.

When they finished, Nabi clapped proudly. "That was amazing!" She smiled. "None of you were straining your voices either." She smiled while wiping a fake tear.

Everyone laughed at her. "Teacher, why are you still here?" They asked.

"Why are you guys still here? Don't you all have studies tomorrow?" She asked.

"Yes we do. We were getting our things when Sulji started singing." Yebin giggled.

"Teacher sing with us." Maria smiled.

Nabi shook her head. "No. I...I can't."

"Teacher!" They all begged together.

Nabi tsked at them. "Just one." They all cheered as Nabi sat along side her trainees. "Alright, what song?" She smiled at their young faces.

"Does it have to be a song done by a YG Artist?" Sebin asked.

Nabi smirked. "We can sing it quietly." She chuckled at their bright faces.

"I know!" Eun Byul, the youngest, shouted.

....

Kwon Jiyong sighed as he stepped out of the dance studio, stretching out his back. They had to record the dance version of the songs. He came straight from the set of the music video to film the dance version of the song. He was exhausted. He wasn't done yet. He had to do an interview in a few hours. It was already three in the morning and his interview was at seven. His manager was waiting down in the parking lot with the van to take him back to the dorms. He hadn't spoken to Nabi all day and was starting to feel the impact of having her there for him even if it had only been two months since they started 'dating'.

Kwon Jiyong made his way down the steps, leading him to the ground level. When he arrived to the, almost, empty building floor, he made his way towards the trainee's meeting room. He was hoping Nabi hadn't left yet. He knew she was going to visit her mom but he wasn't sure if she left or not. He reached the door and peered into the room. He was surprised by what he saw. Six girls sat in a circle while Nabi sat along with them.

Involuntarily, Kwon Jiyong smiled at what they were doing. They were singing Lion Heart by SNSD. He watched as Nabi took the lead while singing. They were almost singing it in an acoustic version but with no actual acoustics. They were harmonizing their voices well. Nabi's voice was more noticeably experienced at controlling her range. Her voice was so natural it felt like silk to his ears. Kwon Jiyong was at awe with her voice. It was so smooth and clean, it had no edges whatsoever. He couldn't help but think how amazing she would've been as an idol. She wasn't only sweet or talented, she was tough. Despite looking like she was a pushover, he has seen the way she was able to take control of her trainees. Like a true leader, she was able to take the position seriously as well. Kwon Jiyong could see why she was chosen as leader when she was an idol, she would've been an amazing leader.

Everyone giggled as they all stopped singing. "That was so much fun!" Eun Byul smiled.

Nabi chuckled. "Yes it was fun. Now it's time for you all to go home and rest. You all have studying to do tomorrow." Nabi said standing up. "Make sure to warm those throats since you've all been singing here." Nabi turned around and spotted Kwon Jiyong with a cheeky smile.

The girls had a knowing smile as they all looked at each other. "I suddenly have to leave." Maria said standing up and waving at the other girls to do the same. "I left....I left my...uhm.."

"Towel dispenser running." Sebin finished for Maria with a thumbs up.

(Maria's expression to Sebin's dumb reply)

Maria scrunched up her face. "Yes....I left my towel dispenser on." She said with a raised brow and a confused face.

"We'll help you turn it off." The other girls said.

Nabi placed her hands on her hips and eyed the girls who passed Kwon Jiyong with a bow and out the door. She didn't understand what they were saying. Towel dispenser made no sense to her. Neither did it to Kwon Jiyong who smiled at Nabi.

"Do you see what I have to deal with?" She joked. "What are you doing here? I thought you had your music video to shoot." Nabi said reaching for her bag that she left on the floor.

"I finished early. I came to see if you were still here." Kwon Jiyong said. "It will be late when you're driving. Are you going to be alright?" He asked.

Nabi smiled. "Of course. I'll just listen to some music and I'll be able to stay up."

"Well, just to make sure," he started. "text me so I know you're alright."

Nabi stopped breathing for a second. "Text you?"

"Yes, the moment you get there. Text me." Kwon Jiyong said sternly. "If you don't, I won't be able to sleep. Then I won't be able to do my interview." Nabi looked at him with her big innocent button eyes. "Are you going to take responsibility for that?"

Nabi shook her head. "I'll text you. I promise." She smiled.

"Good." Kwon Jiyong smiled back. "I'll walk you out."

When Nabi got into her car, Kwon Jiyong stood at the entrance of the YG Building by his van. He watched as Nabi drove away with a wave and a smile. It was going to take a long time for her to get there but just like she had told Kwon Jiyong, she was going to be jamming to some music to keep her awake while driving home. She was dancing in her car, not caring about all the people who eyed her in the cars next to her lane.

When she arrived into the village and drove in on the dirt roads, she finally reached her house. The lights were off and when Nabi checked the time, the sun would be rising in two hours. She sighed and got out of the car with her duffle bag. She made her way into the house as quiet as possible. She slipped off her shoes and slipped on her house slippers. Making her way to the room, Nabi placed her duffle bag on the floor, out of the way. She sighed and stretched out her back with her arms over her head. Her body was tight from driving for a long period of time. She paused when she heard her phone dinged. Nabi took her phone out of her pocket and read the text on the screen.

........................

(Jiyong) (Nabi)

Did you make it to your mom's house alright? I want to sleep but I can't cause you haven't texted me.

Almost instantly another text came in.

Why aren't you texting back?

Did you not make it there on time?

Nabi!

Nabi hurriedly texted him.

I just got here. Why are you worrying?

It's because it's been over three hours. It doesn't take that long right?

Nabi chuckled and texted.

Yes. It takes awhile.

Well, I don't believe you. Send a picture of you by your mom's house.

Nabi raised a brow.

Are you crazy.

Well I guess I'm not doing my interview because I won't be able to sleep.

Nabi blinked blankly at her phone. She put her phone on her bed and began fixing her hair. She hurriedly took off her shirt and switched it to a plain white t-shirt. She grunted in frustration as she looked at her hair that became messy after taking off her shirt. Again, rushing to fix it. When she was satisfied, she jumped on the bed and looked at her mirror as she released a heavy sigh at her sad excuse of an appearance.

I'm in my room.

Happy? I'm getting ready to sleep. Are you ready to sleep?

Yes I'm ready to sleep. Do you need proof?

No. I believe you.

I said I believed you. Lol.
