Chapter 9 - Pros & Cons

Lina sat on the windowsill with her legs folded up to her chest. Her long curls contained into a tight bun and her glasses propped over her eyes. In her hand held a cup of coffee as she stared at the lights of businesses, houses and streets that gleamed brightly in the night. The window was left open, blowing a light breeze into her face.

Her mind was reeling as she began to deeply think about Park Nabi's offer. She knew if a stranger came to recruit her, Lina would've brushed it off as a scam. She wasn't about to fall for that again. But she knew Park Nabi. She knew she would never do that to her.

Lina mentally wrote out the pros and cons about being a model. Su Bin always told her that organizing one's mind while it's thinking helps make big decisions. But Lina wasn't an organized person. She was all over the place. Which was why she couldn't come up with pros or cons in her mental list. It was just never going to happen. She needed to speak to her best friend who would gladly help sort it out with her.

Lina's head snapped towards the door the moment she heard shouting. A small smile tugged at the corner of her lips. Shouting signaled that her best friend is home. Which meant she didn't have to think about the pros and cons only to fail at the end by doing so.

"No!" Su Bin shouted, following Jae Bum into the house. "I told you repeatedly, that if I catch you smoking you'll die by my hands!"

"This had nothing to do with the cigarettes." Jae Bum shouted back. "Hi noona." He said as Lina waved to him.

"Nothing to do with the...you little bastard-" Su Bin reached up and took a fist full of Jae Bum by his hair. "If you keep giving me your smart ass remarks, I'll literally cut your penis off and glue it to your hand! And your free hand up your ass." She says leading the way to his room.

"Ah! It hurts! Noona!" Jae Bum whined. "My hair! You're pulling it all out."

"Get in the shower or I'll scrub your ass a new set of skin!" Su Bin shouted as she slammed the door shut. She blew her bangs out of her eyes and sighed. "You're home." She smiled at Lina as if she just didn't threaten someone about cutting off their body parts.

Lina smiled. "What was it this time?"

Su Bin walked over to the kitchen where she pulled out a green bottle of Soju and a shot glass. She instantly made her way over to Lina and sighed. Her cheeks were inflamed with anger as she popped the cap for the green bottle off and poured herself a shot. Su Bin stayed silent for a second staring at the shot glass, thinking. It wasn't long before she gave up on the internal battle she was going through and just drank the Soju from the bottle.

"You won't believe it." She sighed with her eyes shut.

"Did he harass the teacher again? Just because they're foreigners, doesn't-"

"Nope. Not even close." Su Bin says drinking down a few gulps. "Jae Bum, he," She sighed angrily, feeling riled up just thinking on what it was he did this time. "He did it this time. They kicked him out and refunded the money I gave for this month."

Lina changed into a sitting position as she felt like this story would be everything next to hilarious. "Hakwangs never refund money."

"I know! I can't believe they refunded it. It was so embaressing! All the parents were there looking at me. Looking down on me." Su Bin says taking a quick swig at the green bottle. "So anyways, Jae Bum called me when he finished school and told me he was going to go straight to Hakwang. I thought it was strange that he was leaving so early since it didn't start until later but I just blew it off thinking he was finally getting his shit together. Nope! He went there early to redecorate the room."

"They refunded the money because he redecorated the classroom?" Lina asked taking a sip of her coffee.

"No! It's how he decorated it." Su Bin says exasperated. "For starters, he pasted the whole room, from ceiling to floor, with photoshoped photos of their Hakwang teacher between two naked Korean women. And if that wasn't bad enough, personal messages that were sent between his Hakwang teacher and another Hakwang teacher were pasted on the large white board with photos they exchanged. Let me tell you, it wasn't appropriate for virgin eyes like yours. The police were there and arrested Jae Bum but because I begged the teacher, cried, on my knees, begged him not to press charges against Jae Bum, he didn't press charges. I just got off of work so I had mascara and makeup on and I was crying black." She sighed out frustrated. "I am at my wit's ends with him. I feel like my last resort is to either put him into military camp or a mental institute."

Lina smiled knowing Su Bin would never do that. "Both sounds perfect for Jae Bum."

Su Bin sighed and looked at Lina. "Now that I got that off my chest, what's going on? It's almost three in the morning and you're not dead asleep on the couch with you dramas playing past your checkpoint."

Lina giggled, knowing that that's exactly how she usually slept. "Something happened today."

"Yeah my douche bag of my brother hit on you only to quickly close up tighter than a nun's legs." Su Bin says drinking the bottle again.

"No besides that. And that's so inappropriate." Su Bin rolled her eyes as she waited for Lina to continue. "I was scouted."

Su Bin sighed and rolled her eyes again. "Yeah because last time went so well."

"That was not my fault." Lina said in her defense.

"They scouted you to sing Lina." Su Bin says giving her a deadpan look.

"I don't see the problem." Lina replied stubbornly.

Su Bin chuckled. "Lina I love you more than Hong Bin and I want you to know that I only mean best." She paused as she placed a hand on Lina's lap for comfort. "You can't sing and when you do, you sound like you're dying."

"That wasn't very nice!" Lina says with a hint of a smile on her face.

"So what did these con artists have to say this time?" Su Bin asked.

"It wasn't a con artist. It was Park Nabi. She told me that the director of YGK saw me and wants me to be a model." Lina explained.

"Park Nabi? The one you worked for? That fashion CEO?" Su Bin asked only to receive a nod.

"Her uncle is the owner of YG Entertainment. She just so happened to be there and the director for YGK asked her about me." Lina says.

"Must be great to be related to rich people." Su Bin says.

"That's not the point." Lina says with a sigh. "What should I do?"

Su Bin looked at her best friend and took in the little frown she had. She always worried when Lina began to think. It wasn't in a way where Su Bin felt like Lina was incapable of thinking, but it was because the moment Lina began to think, the moment she began to worry. Su Bin knows Lina like the back of her hands. She already knew the reels in her head were working at unimaginable speeds, trying to list out pros and cons, only to fail. She was bad at things like that and didn't blame her for it.

"Alright, what did you get on your mental list so far besides the fact you won't be able to watch dramas as much on the cons side?" Su Bin asked.

"Pros, I get to meet famous people." Lina says.

"Con, you won't have enough time to spend with me."

"Pros, I'll be able to travel the world."

"Con, you'll have to go on a diet."

Lina internally groaned at that con but continued. "Pros, they'll pay me well."

"Ooo that's a good one." Su Bin says. "Con, Netizens."

"Pros, I might get some fans."

"Con," Su Bin paused as she began to think. "I ran out."

"Pros, I'll get pampered from head to toe." Lina says.

"I can think about twenty million more pros." Su Bin says.

"So can I but why do I feel like I'm still hesitant to make the decision?" Lina whined.

Su Bin smiled. "I can't make that decision for you but I know either way you'll be great at it. Everyone loves you and even if they don't, you love you. That's all that matters."

Lina sighed. "That helped." She said sarcastically.

...............

Okay I know this has been like a million of times but I am going to finally say it!!!

2016 IS THE WORST YEAR EVER!!

Amongst those very long issues such as Bom's scandal, Minzy's departure and 2ne1's disbandment, Taehyun leaving Winner and YG All together, and the fact that I'm stuck on an island for a whole year without Wifi, one thing I cried hard over, even more than 2ne1's disbandment is Running Man being over. A lot of you won't understand but, I was into dramas and variety shows before I got into Kpop and the fact that one of my favorite shows is shutting down completely, breaks my heart. I always watched Running Man when I was feeling down. There were no questions asked that they'll always put a smile on my face. The original cast being out for the last bang is really all I ask for.

Song Jihyo, Kang Gary, Kim Jungkook, Lee Kwang Soo Ji Suk Jin, Lizzy, Song Joon Ki, Haha and the amazing Emcee, Yoo Jae Suk will be missed on Running Man.
