Chapter 7 - Recruiting Team
President Yang sat in his office chair, working. He was putting together auditions to see who would best fit the YG Entertainment style best. Trainees never lasted long and usually didn't debut under his company, so he wanted a trainee that would last long, enough to debut.
"President Yang, Director Kang is here." (Director Kang is the director of YG Entertainment's modeling side) Secretary Yoo says as he opened the door for the director to walk in.
"Ah, you're here." President Yang says not looking up. "I guess you got my message."
"Yes. So where is she?" He asked, sitting himself into one of the few seats in the office.
"Don't rush too much." President Yang says, standing from his desk to walk over to a seat across from the director. "I didn't get her yet."
"What?! You said you found her. The one to help bring attention to the modeling side of the company!" Director Kang says, concerned for the mentality of President Yang.
"I found her. You guys have to be the one to reel her in." President Yang says reaching over to the remote on the long table that sat between both President Yang and Director Kang. "I have no idea who she is or how to find her."
"I'm sure I can find a way to find her."
"Yeah, so come here. This is a live broadcast of Daesung's Guerilla Date. How I found her." President Yang says pointing to the flat screen.
"Oh, is she a fan?" Director Kang asked only to recieve a shrug.
After Director Kang spoke up, they kept quiet and kept their eyes glued to the flat screen watching Daesung getting tackled to the floor by a flying Lina. Her look of shock towards the cameras and Daesung were very brief before she apologized and went on her way, running.
"Uncle! I have a meeting early in the morning! I'm so tired of meetings. I literally can't wait any longer to jump back into bed." Park Nabi says as she entered the office. The moment she noticed another body inside her eyes instantly dropped as she did a bow. "I'm sorry, I wasn't aware you had a guest."
"Where is Secretary Yoo? I asked him not to allow anyone in." President Yang says.
Park Nabi shrugged. "I bumped into him in the hallway. He told me not to let anyone in while he goes to the bathroom."
President Yang sighed, rubbing his temples with his thumb and index finger. "Please step out. While I'm having a meeting. Our dinner date isn't canceled, I just need to do a few things."
Park Nabi nodded in understanding, after all she too owned a company. She bowed and looked up, smiling at President Kang. Her eyes landed on the television for a few seconds and spotted a blur of a curly mess. She had to do a double take. The television replayed the clip of Daesung being knocked over. And because of a certain someone, Park Nabi knew exactly who it was.
"What are you guys doing exactly?" She asked, using her businesswoman voice. "Why is that clip being played on the television?"
"We're trying to recruit her as a model for YGK." He says truthfully. "Do you know who she is?" President Yang asks.
Park Nabi gave her uncle a cheeky grin and an eager nod. "Definitely do. She used to be my assistant. She has an intuitive insight on fashion." She says happily. "I can give you all her contact information but just a heads up, Lina is addicted to dramas. She'll spare any time she has to glue her eyes or ears to the darn thing. She also is always late. Everywhere! No matter what!" Park Nabi says, remembering all the times she overheard Lina's wireless earphones, playing whatever her current addiction was as they were running late to a meeting. "Besides that, she's an amazing girl with a sweet personality. I think she'll be a great addition to the YGK Modeling Family."
"Is there any way for you to be the one to recruit her?" Director Kang asks.
President Yang shook her head. "I don't think-"
"Of course I can. I keep in touch with her. Constantly." She quickly added. "I'll have your answer by tomorrow." Park Nabi says readying herself to leave.
"What about our dinner date?" President Yang asks.
"We can reschedule or I'll just call you later. We're only discussing the clothes your artists are going to be wearing. I know it's unprofessional but I can't help it. You being my uncle has it's perks." Park Nabi smiles. "I'll be heading out now. Recruiting."
With that Park Nabi was out the door. Currently, Bae Jang Mi was learning choreography for her single she was coming back with. Park Nabi knew she had to be in one of the dance studios. Sure enough, she found Bae Jang Mi with her hands on her knees, breathing out heavy breaths while complaining about hunger pains. The relationship between the two was still a work in progress. Bae Jang Mi wasn't too fond on the fact that Park Nabi left like that but Park Nabi was more than determined to continue their friendship.
"Jang Mi-ah." She says entering the dance studio.
"Ah-" Bae Jang Mi breathed heavily, "Unni, what are-" breaths, "doing here?" She sighed out as a backup dancer hands her a bottle of watter.
"I'm going out to see Lina. I'm going to recruit her as YGK Model." Park Nabi says with a smile. "Do you want to come?"
"Will you cover for me with your uncle?" Bae Jang Mi asked in English straightening out her posture.
"Of course."
She then turned to her choreographers and the backup dancers with a guilty smile plastered on her lips. "Sorry!" Bae Jang Mi shouted while she ran out, gripping Park Nabi's wrist as she did so. "You won't believe how much times they made me do the dance routine cause I couldn't get a certain part correctly." She breathed out. "So where are we headed to?"
Park Nabi looked down at her golden wrist watch and smiled. "It's only ten pm." Park Nabi started. "We're heading to the club."
"Dressed like this?" Bae Jang Mi asked looking down at her attire which consisted of loose grey sweats and a tight white tank top that showed her sweat from her neck to the top of her stomach. "Don't get me started on how you look because you look like you're going to go into the club and buy it off the owner. Nobody needs that stuff today."
Park Nabi rolled her eyes. "I guess if we're going to the club, we might as well get dressed."
"Yey! Let's go to my house! I'm sure I have a really cute dress somewhere that used to fit me." Bae Jang Mi says excitedly.
"Why would you still have it if it doesn't fit you?" Park Nabi asked as they walked to Park Nabi's car.
"I promised myself to diet to fit back into it." She sighed. "But soon found out it was never going to happen because food is more important than dresses." She shrugged. "Dresses do come in all sizes." She laughed.
