Chapter 52 - In Return
Nabi looked at the situation before her. Lina stood slightly behind Stephanie while Stephanie looked like she was ready to fight the girl in front of her. The girl in front, had the same stance as Stephanie.
"What's going on?" Nabi asks.
Her business facade was still intact so Ji Yong went to stand beside her and intertwined his fingers through hers. He has seen how ugly Nabi can get while working. Something she had to be as a chairwoman for a large clothing company. If she didn't have this side of a strong business woman, she wouldn't make it to where she was currently in the business market.
"You might as well call your career quits." Stephanie says smirking.
"What do you mean Stephanie?" Nabi asks, waiting for an explanation.
"It's a misunderstanding. It's really nothing." Lina says waving it off.
"She called Lina a bed climber." Stephanie says.
Nabi's eye twitched as the comment. Even Ji Yong was shocked. Lina? A bed climber? The two couldn't believe what they heard. Nabi saw Lina as an endangered flower that should be taken care of at all times. Ji Yong not only knew Lina personally, but also heard stories about her through Daesung. She is just as sweet and inoccent as a child.
Nabi turned to Ashley with a scowl. "You called my Lina a bed climber?" She scoffed as she took our her phone and put it next to her ears. "What's her name?" Nabi asks.
"Nabi you don't have to do anything." Lina says.
"Ashley Callisto." Stephanie says.
"Who the hell do you think you are to speak another language in front of me?!" Ashley snapped.
"Fine, I'll stick to English since Lina would be very against what I am doing." Nabi says when her secretary answers the phone. "Secretary Min, find me information about Ashley Castillo. Find every dirt you can find and send the files to me."
"What the hell are you doing?!" Ashley snapped.
"If you ever dare go against Lina, I'll destroy you myself." Nabi snapped before turning to Lina softly. "The flowers are from the members, Hyorin and Jang Mi too. Mostly from Daesung though." She smiled. "We'll be in the front row. We'll eat dinner together okay." She says before turning to Ashley. "Just try me."
"Fighting." Ji Yong says to Lina before dragging Nabi away. "Are you really going to end her career?"
Nabi chuckled but shook her head. "I learned it from Jang Mi. She said their paranoia will get to them before I could even do anything. The best revenge is having your enemies destroy themselves."
Ji Yong shook his head and clicked his tongue. "You really have to stop hanging out with Jang Mi."
"We're very close now. We even hang out on my business trips." She smiles while clinging onto Ji Yong's arm.
"Remind me never to surprise you on a business trip. I might show up in your hotel room naked." Ji Yong says smirking.
Nabi shook her head. "It wouldn't matter. Jang Mi told me she saw you naked already. She also told me she doesn't want to see it again. Ever."
"I was the victim here. I'm traumatized because of her." Ji Yong says causing Nabi to laugh.
......................
When the fashion show ended, Lina headed back to her vanity, bumping into Ashley on the way as well. She sneered at her and Lina could only hang her head low. She didn't want to cause any trouble. She barely liked America, and the people in New York were.....they were something.
Lina began packing her bags after changing into more comfortable clothing. She wore a thick winter coat along with skinny jeans and boots that were knee high. She picked up one of the bundle of lavender while she left the rest for Bryan to take care of.
As she was leaving Nabi stopped Lina. "Where are you going?" She asks. "I was gonna come get you."
"Oh, I was going to go to my agent who's waiting for me." Lina says.
"Let's have dinner. Ji Yong and I are heading back to Seoul tomorrow morning." Nabi says, using her eyes to beg for her to agree. "Stephanie is joining us too."
Lina smiled and nodded. "Of course. I would love to. I didn't know how much I enjoyed hearing Korean until you showed up."
Nabi smiled. "We miss you back in Seoul too. Seriously wish you were back."
"Me too." Lina sighed before looking at Nabi seriously. "Thank you for earlier. Ashley has been that way since I arrived. I guess with time she just gets more sour. She has never been direct with me before."
Nabi shook her head. "I honestly would have blew her thin body away. She's skinnier than Ji Yong." She says causing Lina to laugh and herself to follow. "So, how's this long distance relationship going?" She asks after the laughter subsides.
Before Lina could answer, he phone beeps. She smiled sheepishly at Nabi before grabbing out her phone. There was a text message from the CEO of Imagine. He needed to see her immediately. Sighing, sadden because she wanted to stay with Nabi and Ji Yong to catch up but was needed else where.
"I have to take care of business first. Text me the restaurant and I'll meet you guys there." Lina says waving to Nabi.
"Yeah sure. We'll let you know."
Lina rushed towards her agent in a small black car. She shoved her belongings in the back seat before jumping in. Her agent, like always, was currently on the phone. Talking to potential business partners or more jobs for Lina. He started the car, talking on his phone through the ear piece.
After hanging up with whoever was on the other end, he looked at Lina through the review mirror. "You know why you're being called in right?" He asks. "Boss found out you smiled and waved while out on the runway. How could you be so stupid?" He continued.
Lina looked at him oddly. "I'm getting into trouble for smiling and waving on the runway?"
"Yeah. I told you before, we don't have models who smile on the runway. If you want to smile a lot, join Victoria's Secret and model for them. You're high fashion model, you need to take this job seriously." He scolded.
"Stop the car." Lina says calmly. "Stop the car!"
Bryan pulled over to the side and Lina got out, only taking her lavender bouquet with her. She slammed the car door and began making her way back to her apartment. She was exhausted from the day's work and wanted to rest. She wasn't going to be dealing with her agency's bull crap at the moment.
She walked six blocks away from where she got out of Bryan's car. Her apartment wasn't far from anywhere. A good walk would get her to anywhere she wanted or needed to go. She couldn't believe her day. The best thing that happened was seeing familiar faces. She felt like it was a mistake coming to America. She was miserable here and she really missed her parents, Daesung and her friends.
Lina entered her apartment complex and took the elevator to her floor. She hadn't even noticed that she was crying. She felt overwhelmed. Everything she held in for the six months were slowly starting to come out. It was almost like nobody wanted her there. She didn't understand. If nobody wanted her there, why would she stay?
Unlocking her apartment door, Lina entered, taking her shoes off and slipping on her house slippers. She then, suddenly noticed, her apartment light was on. Was she being robbed? She heard about the high crime rates in New York. Especially people breaking into other people's apartments. This was the good side of town, so she was told. Nothing bad has happened in the six months of being in New York.
Grabbing her knee high boots as her go-to weapon, she headed into her living room that was dimly lit. Upon seeing the inside, Lina dropped the boot and stared dumbfounded at the decoration that wasn't there when she left that morning. There were balloons crowded in one corner. Just one corner. The floor were surrounded by electric candles which made Lina kind of giggle to herself. There were also random lavender flowers laying across the floor.
"Hello?" She called out.
She could of had a serial killer in her house but she just called out to it like she wanted to be killed. She might as well had shouted for the serial killer that she was home and that it was time for her life to taken away. However, thoughts about a serial killer disappeared when someone stepped out from behind the large body of balloons. Lina dropped the bouquet of lavender as her hands flew to her mouth in shock.
Before her stood Daesung. He wore a white knitted turtle neck sweater and jeans. His hair was down with the strands covering his forehead. He's so handsome. Tears began trickling down her cheeks just at the sight of him. He had his arms open and she instantly ran towards him. She jumped into his embrace, wrapping her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck as she hugged him tightly. His laughter from her hug was like music to her ears.
"I missed you so much!" She sobbed into his neck.
Daesung carried her, supporting her weight. "I missed you too." He says kissing her head.
Lina finally got down and instantly pulled Daesung in for a kiss. Pulling him back to her to her embrace. She was very demanding in the kiss and it caused Daesung to laugh in the middle of it. She pulled back and smiled sheepishly.
"What are you doing here?" Lina asks, wrapping her arm around him.
Daesung's hand circled around her waist, pulling her tightly against him. "Because I missed you." He leaned in and gave her a quick kiss. "I made dinner."
"Dinner? You mean Nabi and Ji Yong doesn't know you're here?" She asks.
"Are they here?" He asks. "I honestly didn't know."
"How did you get into my apartment?" She asked.
Daesung led her to her dining room. "I called a locksmith. Please sit and eat. You have gotten too skinny since leaving Korea."
Lina looked at the table and sighed happily. "Korean food. I really missed it."
Daesung sat across from her and held her hands while they did a prayer before eating. They began conversing about everything and anything while eating happily. Not once letting go of each other's hands. They talked on the phone everyday but it was much better having conversations face to face.
When dinner was finished, they sat in each other's presence, drinking a glass of wine. They were both silent as Lina was enjoying being in Daesung's arms again. He drew small patterns on her shoulder with his finger. She really missed him.
"How long are you staying?" She asks.
"For two days." Daesung replied with a sigh. "I know it's so sudden but-"
"Take me with you." Lina says cutting him off.
"What?"
Lina sat up straight and faced Daesung. "Let's leave together. I hate this place. The agent is mean to me. Other models don't like me and I honestly feel hostile in this environment."
"I thought you liked it. You told me over the phone that you were having a lot of fun."
Lina shook her head. "This place is horrible. I lied so you wouldn't worry. Or because if I didn't stay for a whole year, I would be labled as a failure. I couldn't work along other models in the capital of the modeling world. I might as well quit. It really sucks here."
Daesung shushed her. "We would never think of you as a failure. If that is what you want then you need to do it. It's a plus for me but please only do it for yourself."
Lina nodded. "I want to leave here and go back home."
Daesung smiled warmly. "Okay. We'll go home together."
