Chapter 26 - Shoulder To Lean On
Daesung dropped Lina off at the restaurant where she would be having dinner. He was in his dorm dressing back up after showering. He was exhausted. His thoughts went to the events that had happened the past six hours.
He couldn't help but stare at Lina in awe as she strutted down the runway. She wore beautiful coats but it looked as if she made the coat beautiful rather the other way around. She looked natural, like the runway was her play area. She didn't look the tad bit nervous like she did when he visited her. In fact, she looked confident. That small smirk he saw while she walked was the cutest thing he has ever seen. It made his heart pinch at how cute she was.
Then when he went looking for, to let her know that she did amazingly well out on the runway for a newbie, only to find that she wasn't with her managers. He decided to check the venues first and then he saw her, through a window out looking the back ally. So he decided to go see if she was alright. He was very confused about the situation at hand. He didn't know what kind of people Lina was involved with. Her personality is heavy on the sweet side but the people who surrounded her seemed very scary. From the man who insulted her to the lady who swore. It got the thought of what type of person she was before she became the perrson he knows.
He wouldn't judge her upon who she was because anyone with eyes could see how kind hearted she is. Lina had soft eyes and Daesung could see her heart through them.
Before Daesung's thoughts could grow any further, the doorbell to the dorm rang. It was just him in the dorms since the others didn't have any schedule activities during the mornings like he did. So he got out and headed towards the small screen to see who was outside. He gasped when he saw Lina on the small screen. Checking the time on his phone, it was just past midnight and he wondered what she was doing at his dorm.
"Hey!" Daesung says opening the door.
Lina's eyes grew big in shock as she took in Daesung's naked chest. He only came out in boxers. She wasn't going to lie, god has blessed her tonight with a beautiful sight like Daesung half naked. He was much more chiseled out than she had thought him to be. Being able to count each ab of chocolate with her finger if she wanted to. But just to feign inoccent, she covered her eyes and squeak.
"You don't have clothes on." Lina says through covered eyes.
Suddenly the door closed and Lina let a breath of air. She has never found anyone to be hot like she had with Hong Bin. Hong Bin is built like a truck and she wasn't going to lie, so was Daesung. She wondered which one was worthy to ride.
Lina gasped when the thought came to her. "Catalina Jung! You stop this perverted-ness. You are not an animal! Daesung is not meat! You are someone with morals. You can't be carefree like Su Bin!" She was walking in small circle in front of Big Bang's dorm. "You need to get yourself together!"
Daesung had already returned with a shirt on and loose pajama pants as he watched Lina circling herself. He couldn't understand a thing she was saying since she was speaking in Spanish and the only Spanish word Daesung knew how to say was library because it was a fun thing to say.
"Are you okay?" Daesung asked.
Lina kind of jumped in her spot, not expecting Daesung to be there staring at her. She smiled, almost as if she was guilty of something and she tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
"Sorry about that. I was sort of just laying in bed." Daesung says.
"I'm sorry if I woke you up. I just felt like I couldn't sleep and wanted to know if you wanted to hang out." Lina says. "But if you're sleeping, it's totally fine. I can come back tomorrow."
"Lina, it's fine. Come inside. Nobody is here. Just me."
Lina nodded and entered the dorm. It was much similar to hers, only bigger. It made sense since there were five members so their dorm had to fit five of them in one.
Daesung lead Lina to his room. "I have a television in my room we can watch on or talk if you want. I just don't want any members to show up and be surprised that you're here."
"That's fine." She smiled. "Is it alright to sit on your bed?"
"Yeah of course it's fine. Do you want anything to drink or anything to eat?" He asked.
Lina smiled but shook her head. Seeing her sitting on his bed by the headboard with her legs folded, he couldn't help but find her cute. She wore a yellow t-shirt with the letter Q on it, he didn't understand what it was there for but didn't feel like asking about it. Her pants that she wore were grey sweats that were definitely loose on her but rolled at the top. It looked like a man's sweat pants which didn't settle well for Daesung.
"What movie do you want to watch?" Daesung asked sitting next to her on his bed.
"Maybe something funny?"
"Sure. Do you want to watch The Shamans?" Daesung asked. "It came out awhile ago but it's still funny."
(A/N: Shameless Story promotion! If you want to know what The Shamans is about, check out my book, Your Guide To Kdramas ;)
"Sure. I never watched it. I was always a drama kind of person." She smiled.
"I can tell." He says with a hint of amusement.
Daesung began scanning through the movies they had available and found the movie they agreed to watch. They sat in comfortable silence as they watched the movie. They were side by side, almost leaning against one another. Daesung was content watching the movie, laughing when the funny scenes came on and jumped slightly when the scary parts came on. However, Lina was too preoccupied with her mind and the way Daesung viewed her after witnessing Hong Bin in his jealousy thrived rage. For some reason, unknown to her, she didn't want him to see her in a bad light.
"You can ask me you know." Lina says suddenly.
Daesung looked at her, turning slightly. "Ask about what?"
"My past. How I was like. I know you're curious but you're too kind to ask." She says now looking at him.
"I am but I'm not going to force you to tell me." He smiled. "To be honest, I don't question you or what happened."
"Well, I want to tell you if that's alright." Lina says facing him, the movie long forgotten.
"I'm all ears. I won't judge you."
Lina smiled and nodded. "I just feel like I need to explain or you'll misunderstand me but thank you for that." She sighed before she started. "The girl who walked out swearing is my bestfriend and her brother Hong Bin is someone I can honestly say I love or loved...I don't know anymore."
Daesung felt his emotions setting and not in a good way.
"I don't know. I've known them since I was a kid. Su Bin and Hong Bin has had a hard life growing up and I was happy to be their safety net. My dad was very well with his career in construction and he was able to uphold our family together until my brothers were old enough to fend for themselves, and then some. My mom being Hispanic had a harder time in their departure, thinking they needed to stay home, call often or even come by on the weekends but their jobs required them to work those days as well, keeping them from coming home. Because of this, my mom paid more attention to my brothers than the child she had at home while my dad was too immerse in his role as a breadwinner for our family. I don't resent them for it, I don't know what mothers go through when their children can't make it on even the most important of holidays or how busy a man has to be working hard for his family. But when entering high school, I think the lack of affection from both my parents took a huge toll on me so instead of being the comfort of my best friends who were always leaning on me, I decided they should take me in and teach me their ways of rebeling. I got caught in a lot of trouble and somethings I regret while others are a fond memory of mines. Hong Bin is one of them. He's always been the protector of Su Bin and myself. In his own twisted way, he was showing that he did love me. Because I was young and thoughtless, I did everything with him. He was my everything. Hong Bin didn't change much from then, but I did which is hard for both of us because I still love him, to an extent but because he can't change his ways for the better, I don't know if the thing we had in the past will be possible in the future." Lina sighed. "After my dad's accident, I pushed Hong Bin away. It was like being snapped into reality and I didn't know what to do. My dad's career went down the drain because of his accident and I lost the way I used to think from my teenage days. My life was surrounded by bad priorities and functions that didn't quite fit well and when my dad gotten hurt, I straightened up. I began getting different jobs. I even lost contact with Su Bin at one point because she too couldn't change her ways. I started attending church to get closer with some higher up because I couldn't grip with the constant reality that was happening to me. It was like my sheltered world had been shattered."
"So how come you're still friends with that guy and the swearing lady?" Daesung asked.
"After two months of working my butt off to help my parents pay off the huge amount of debt that their hospital bill presented, Su Bin sought me out. She said she couldn't live without her bestfriend and told me she couldn't change her ways because it was built into her blood. She was the way she was because her parents made her that way. Her story isn't mine to tell but she did reject her family, for me. It was the first thing someone has ever done for me so selflessly. She even took her brother because of the influence her family would have on him. So that's why I'm still friends with the girl who swears so carelessly. As for Hong Bin, I think I subconsciously could not let go of him. I had jobs but my jobs mostly surrounded him. If I worked for a company, it was a company his family owned, or if I worked at a bar, it was one he owned. I was still leaning on him, without actually doing so. After getting this modeling career, by myself, of course with your help," She smiled to Daesung, "I felt independent for the first time and Hong Bin doesn't like that. He wants me to depend on him. I am funding my family by myself and it's without the help from him."
"You sounded like you went through a lot. I know one thing though," Daesung looked her in the eye with sincerity, "I know you learned from your lessons and became a better person today. So your past, although it was filled with self hardships, you overcame them and you should not be ashamed of your past."
Lina smiled and turned to face the front. She let her head fall onto Daesung's shoulder where he gladly obliged to be the shoulder for her to lean on. Without her noticing, she was snuggling into Daesung's side and he didn't mind one bit. They continued their night as if Lina had not spilt her deepest darkest secrets and continued their night like nothing happened. Aside from getting up to give Lina a sweater to keep herself warm, the two continued their impromptu sleep over.
