Chapter 21 - The Third Month
On the third month of Lina's training, she had begun to get the hang of everything. She lost a lot of inches in her waist, completely loosing her love-handles but was able to maintain a curvaceous figure. She even freaked out when the hard work Daniel forced her to do was slowly starting to show on her stomach. No longer did her stomach jiggle a little but stayed completely still. She had lines on the side of her abs, giving her the highly wanted 11 figure on her stomach. She was very proud of her hard work.
Daesung and herself was able to get along. Lina found out a lot about Daesung while hanging out with him. She honestly felt like she gained a best friend over the couple of months hanging out with him. He was the kindest and most sweetest person Lina has ever met. Never in her whole life has she met such a selfless being.
Daesung would offer to drop her off a healthy lunch while working out during the day and offered to help her study more on the modeling criteria. Lina took his offer gladly, hoping she could have him sneak in a few strips of bacon. Which he did.
They would hang out during lunch while Daniel put in an hour of his own workout. They talked about everything under the sun and it felt easy being with him. Lina felt like she could share everything with Daesung and not have to worry about him judging her or not.
Lina, even though it was by her wishes, has not seen Hong Bin. He hasn't come stalking for her like the usual first leads did in dramas and for some reason, she was quite disappointed about it. He didn't cloud her mind too much because she was too busy. From managing her growing friendship with Daesung down to training for the final round until her debut, she had no time to worry about what Hong Bin had been up to.
Toni, her hair stylist and Yoojung, her makeup stylist had been able to tend to Lina's face and hair. They were exceptionally sweet, especially Toni. She couldn't stop gushing by how beautiful Lina's curls were which was a first for Lina. She got to know all about Toni and she was from the dirty south of Louisiana, a place Lina had no idea where it was at but just nodded in fear of looking stupid.
Yoojung however, was from the south as well, Busan. She had to get rid of her accent while working in Seoul or she couldn't land a good makeup gig like this one. Lina loved the way people in Busan spoke. It was one of the sexiest dialect in Korea and Lina wanted to hear it. Yoojung, the shy thing, became someone else while speaking her dialect.
"Please speak like that from now on in front of me!" Lina says.
"Seriously?" Yoojung asked.
"Yes! Please. Toni has an accent, why stop at Toni." Lina smiled.
Toni cracked a smile. "Yeah, Busan has a nice ring to it." She smiled. "Alright! All done."
Lina looked at herself in the mirror and gasped. Yoojung had finished her makeup a little earlier, matching everything with her lightly tanned skin. Meanwhile Toni has been taking forever on Lina's hair so Lina had thought she was just playing around. There was a lot of rinsing and blow drying and adding of products but never did she think she'd look this amazing.
Her makeup was flawlessly done. Very light and natural looking. The only part that was noticeably unnatural was the thick liner that lined her eyes. Making her light brown eyes shine even brighter. Her skin looked smooth, probably from the cleansing routine Yoojung did earlier and it came out well. She looked completely different.
However, her hair was something that shocked her. It was still curly. Curly as ever, but it was softer, more tamed. It didn't poof out as much. Whatever Toni did to her hair, Lina almost cried at the beauty of it. Her hair was actually listening to Toni.
"Toni the hair whisperer." Lina said to herself. "I look amazing guys! Thank you so much."
"You're welcome." They said in unison.
"You don't have much to do today but we're trying to choose the best hairstyles and makeup that would best suit you before you go off to do your profile shoots." Yoojung says.
"I think this fits you well. This would be for your going out to the grocery store or going to get the mail look. If you were attending an important event we'd do it a different way." Toni says.
"I need makeup and my hair fixed to do everyday things?" Lina asked.
Yoojung and Toni nodded at her question.
"Because you're going to become a face, you have to be prepared for people taking pictures of you in public." Toni says.
"Don't worry, we'll make your everyday look, look as natural as possible. As for times during your work, we have to give you a look that is requested by the company you do photoshoots for. It's inevitable." Yoojung added.
Lina just sighed out with understanding. It was a tough thing to do. Wearing makeup everyday, just to go out, was so unhealthy for her skin. She had to take extra precautions now when it came to taking care of her skin. She had bad acne when she was in high school, so this was going to be horrendous for her.
A while after her makeup artist and hair stylist had left. She waited for her manager to retrieve her. They were doing a shoot for her profile. When other companies need someone to advertise things with a model, they ask for the model's profile. Today, she was being taken out onto the street to take photos. YGK Plus had provided outfits for her to do the photoshoot with. They needed some of her in different angles. Dong Hyun had already taught her how to model and strut while advertising certain things or just posing. This was advertising herself so she had to sell it to the best of her possibility.
"Let's go!" Kang Min Soo says as he entered Lina's dorm. "Wow, you look great." He says.
Lina smiled. "Thank you. Toni and Yoojung worked hard."
"Okay let's go. We're doing it at the company so you'll be able to change out of your clothes freely and then we're going to take two photo shoots outside."
"Sounds good." Lina says.
...........
Lina honestly didn't know what she asked for when she signed the contract to be coming a model. She had clothes changes every two hours and she found out that some of the photos weren't even going to make it onto the profile. They have to choose the best one. She started with something she found cute and more her style before theg started dressing her to their liking. She stood in front of the white backdrop while facing the cameras, ready. It's been four hours since they arrived and had been taking photos.
After the photo shoot inside, they decided to finally take the shoot outside before the sun set. The trick was to make it seem like Lina wasn't cold when she definitely was. She had to wearing clothings that were meant for the summer. Despite the fact that she was freezing she powered through. Her manager would arrive with warm blankets to wrap around her when the cameras weren't snapping any photos. She was dying from the cold but wasn't about to complain, this is what she signed up for and she was going to do this with 100% effort and without complaint. She wasn't going to complain.
After around midnight, she finally made it back to her apartment. She showered in hot steaming water and was now dressed with a loose shirt that stopped above her stomach and gray sweats. Her hair was up in a ponytail and her glasses were on. When she was ready to sleep, her doorbell rang.
Lina stared at her bestfriend confused as to why she appeared so suddenly. She wasn't complaining, but Su Bin didn't look well. She looked as if she had been crying for years on end. Despite her crying appearance, she smiled at Lina.
"Why didn't you just enter the code?" Lina asks.
"Because I wanted you to come to me." She says with a crooked grin. "You look amazing by the way."
"Thank you. The perks of being a model, they pamper your face and body." Lina smiles as they enter her dorm. "Are you alright?"
Just that question caused a sob to escape from Su Bin's lips. "I'm pregnant."
Lina gasped. Su Bin was known to get a little out of hand but she never let herself get this far. One thing she never wanted to do was bring children into this world. People would call her heartless but Lina could understand her. Su Bin hasn't had the greatest parent figures. In Su Bin's brain, she'd end up just like her parents and she couldn't stand that.
"What?" Lina asked shocked. "Everything is going to be alright." She says pulling her sobbing best friend in for a hug.
"No! You don't understand. It's going to ruin his life. I'm going to ruin his career." Su Bin says.
"You're worried about him?" Lina asked shocked.
Lina was still shocked that Su Bin was still sleeping around with the same guy. She was also worried about the guy instead of worrying about herself. It's been three months since Lina has seen Su Bin but she didn't think that her bestfriend would change this drastically, especially because of a guy.
"Come on, let's sit and talk." Lina says as she sat down on the sofa.
Lina sat quietly while she listened to Su Bin's story. Not once judging her best friend. She loves Su Bin despite her having lack of morals that matched Lina's very own. It never bothered her. Su Bin had an amazing heart if people were willing to give her a chance and those who wouldn't give her a chance, wouldn't ever see it.
"Are you going to tell him?" Lina asks when Su Bin finished the story.
Su Bin nodded while wiping away her tears. "I have to but I'm not going to tie him down. If he doesn't want to support me, that's fine. I can do this on my own."
After the two talked they cried and hugged one another. It was a night full of tears and Lina hoped her face didn't show the puffiness from doing so. Her bestfriend was so pitiful. The two slept in each other's arms, feeling comfort from one another.
