Chapter 2 - Introducing Jung Catalina
8 Months After Meeting Nabi
Catalina stood at the countrer, anxious. Her shift had ended ten minutes ago but her reliever didn't arrive yet to relieve her off of her shift. The coffee shop wasn't as busy as it was an hour and a half ago, she luckily was able to stand around and worry about being late to her next job rather then tend to customers who continuously entered the coffee shop.
The moment the small bell that hung in the corner of the door, Lina sighed in content at seeing her reliever, Kang Ri-Na. She wore a skin tight dress that stopped mid-thigh with a clutch in her hand. The ends of her long silky black hair curled to perfection. Her makeup looked natural but Lina knew better than that. She walked in and the sounds of her clicking heels to the wooden flooring of the coffee shop echoed across the somewhat empty room.
"You're finally here!" Lina smiled excitedly. "I really need to get going to my next job."
Kang Ri-Na rolled her eyes and let out a dramatic sigh. "I'm sorry, I had things to do. The boss knows I was going to be late."
"It's fine that you're late. I just need you to hurry up and change into your uniform so I can leave." Lina smiled.
"What do you think I'm going to be doing?" She rolled her eyes. "Just wipe the tables and counters while I'm changing."
"Okay."
Lina watched as she disappeared into the back room. She had already cleaned the tables and wiped the counters waiting for her, all she had to do was come out and take charge of the coffee shop so she could leave. Her supervisor at her next job was going to kill her for being late, again. Unlike Park Nabi, who didn't mind her being late, her supervisor at her next job stressed out the fact that he hated tardiness the most when it came to employee's traits and bad habits. Everyone knows Lina's track records, she was late, all the time. So it was no surprise that she would come waltzing into her next job an hour or two late.
"Ri-Na eonni, I really need to go." Lina says as she entered the locker rooms to find Ri-Na fully dressed in her uniform but just sitting on the benches, texting on her phone. "I'm going to be late."
Ri-Na sighed a frustrated sigh and stood up. "You're always late to everything." She says rolling her eyes. "Go before I get annoyed with you."
Lina smiled. "Thanks eonni. I'll see you later." Lina waved and exited from the locker rooms.
Lina took her apron off and hung it neatly on the hooks near the locker rooms. She then turned around and took her backpack that was stuffed into a small cupboard under the counter. She soon made a run outside with her backpack on as she began trekking to the nearest bus stop, checking her watch every now and then. The bus stop was not as close as she would have preferred it to be but she did always run to it. Her long curly hair flopped in the wind with every bounce she made. She kept a smile on her face as she ran, not caring that people looked at her funny.
The bus stop was nearing her vision and she was glad she was going to make it before her bus came. As soon as she made it there, she placed her hands on each knee as she bent over, heaving heavy breaths. She chuckled at her rushed antics but soon straightened herself out as the bus stopped in front of her. She walked in, scanning her card, before finding a seat in the back. The bus wasn't crowded but Lina took the last available seat. She sighed in content with the cool air blowing on her face after running.
Once she got off at her stop, the sun was already going down. The bus stop was quite far from her next job and she had to start running to make it there on time. So she did. She ran as fast as she could, passing people who gave her annoyed expressions as she passed through them with her loud pattering steps. She passed high end stores that lined the street as well as tall buildings with huge name logos hung brightly on the side.
When she finally arrived to the staircase that would take her downstairs into the underground club, she hunched over breathing hard. It was normal for her to run from place to place, but it did take a toll on her after she was done running. Lina was out of breath as she began to make her way down the stairs.
Beautiful girls lined the walls randomly, talking about whatever gossip there was. As Lina passed them, they would eye her indifferently. Most likely due to her different appearance. She just kept a small and shy smile on her lips as she descended into the loud music pumping club.
Lina danced through a sea of crowds as people moved in a messy rythm along to the music. She made it to the side of the club where a door would take her to the worker's corner. As soon as she entered, her supervisor stood up from his desk and eyed her with an angry brow. Lina sighed and bowed an apology.
"This is the fifth time this week Lina." He snapped.
Lina flinched but bowed again. "I'm sorry. It was because my other job-"
"Is your problem." He said finishing her sentence. "I don't care about your other job because I'm the supervisor for this job. You know why I let you slide right? Of course you do. I don't even know why you came back." He sighed frustratingly. "He won't let me fire you." He said under his breath.
Lina looked away. "I'm sorry."
"Go get dressed. So-Hee needs help behind the counter." He sighed.
Lina bowed before making her exit back into the large crowd. She made her way to the bathroom, which was across from the room she had just exited. Between them, a sea of drunken and sweaty dancers, having the time of their lives. Lina sighed, and gripped the straps of her backpack and began dancing along with the crowd. It was easier that way. Before she knew it, she stood in front of the bathrooms. Lina looked at the women's bathroom door, and began gawking at the line for it. She wondered if their was a concert in the girl's bathroom, causing all the girls to want to go in there at once.
Without hesitation, Lina walked straight into the men's bathroom. No line stood outside of the door but as she entered, three men stood at the urinal, one stood at the sink washing his hand and the other sat inside a stall with no door. They all stared at her like she was a chicken running around with her head cut off. Ignoring their stares, she went to find an empty stall. Luckily, it was the handicap stall.
Lina entered the stall and took her back off. She wrapped her hair into a bun and refrained her fringe with the rubber band from around her wrist. She hung her backpack on the hook behind the door and began stripping out of her everyday clothes. She pulled out a black dress from her backpack and began to slip it up her body. She pushed her arms into the long sleeves of the dress, finally having the dress over body. She then took off her flats and placed them into the bag, then pulling out her heels for work. She wasn't overly tall but she was perfectly average.
Once Lina got her heels on her feet, she made sure to pack her bags neatly and then head back out. After exiting the stall, the men who were using the urinal, the sink, and the stall, hadn't made a move. They stood in the same spot in shock at seeing a women in the men's bathroom. Lina however, didn't care. She stood at the sink, next to the man with his hand still under the water as he stared at her in shock, and looked at herself in the mirror. She began fixing her hair, putting it into a nice half up and half down, to make it look like she was actually trying. After agreeing with how she looked she made an exit from the smelly bathroom and back into the loud club.
As soon as she exited from the bathroom, her arm was gripped tightly and she was forced to face a certain way. As she turned and yelped in the process, she noticed it was just Hong Bin. He stared at her intensely as she looked at him blankly. Despite her outer appearance, her heart began racing a mile a minute.
Hong Bin had black dark hair that swooped to the side whenever he fixed it. The side were shorter than the top part of his head. His jaw line and cheek bones both shined under the dimly lit club. He wore a suit, that tightly fitted his muscular body. Even in the dark, Lina could see the fine sculpted muscles that the suit outlined.
"What are you doing in the men's bathroom?" He snapped loudly for her to hear.
Lina shook his grip off her arm and replied, "Changing my clothes."
"Why didn't you do that in the girl's bathroom?" He asked.
Lina rolled her eyes. "Do I need to explain my life story to you? Why do you want to know?"
Hong Bin clenched down on his teeth, causing his jaw muscles to flex. Lina stood still, watching how sexy he was when he was angry. He looked away for a second before turning back to her with his sharp eyes.
"Don't do it again." He snapped.
With that he disappeared into the crowed along with the men who were following him. Lina felt her shoulders slumped as he watched them walk away. Hong Bin has always been like this. He would show his feelings towards her, but then shut her off. She hated it the most about him. It was time for her to work behind the bar, but her heart was still beating fast from the encounter with Hong Bin. It was time for her to shake it off and begin her shift.
...........
So guys....do you guys like it? Are you guys glad it's Lina? Or nah? Too late.
Also the picture is to describe Lina's hair type, not exactly a photo of Lina or the way I would describe her.
