Chapter 1

I sat on my bed staring blindly at the wall. I knew I was crying and slowly reached up to brush a tear off my cheek. I stopped to stare at the tear now resting on the back of her hand, I sighed in relief when I saw that the tear was its normal color. "At least I'm safe, for now" I say leaning back against the wall.

I freeze when I hear the doorbell ring. No one else in the else could answer it, I'm the only person in my family who hasn't been attached by the perpetua virus. So far on one had found a cure and now few people where left. Slowly I got up and walked towards my bedroom door, stopping to listen makings sure no one was in the hall. I didn't want to get the virus and I couldn't risk being near anyone who was affected. Slowly I opened the door and raced down the hall to the stairs. Once I reached the ground floor I hurried to the front entrance and peered through the peephole.

I was surprised to see a tall lady in a tight black suit. She had blond hair tied back in a bun and she had startling blue eyes. Slowly I cracked the door open "can I help you" I ask quietly. The women smiles at me before speaking. "I'm her wot speak with Mia Vram." I stop wondering what to say slowly. I open the door all the way and step out. "I'm Mia Vram". She smiles again "I'm Lorenda matura, and I'm here you are the only Vram not affected by the virus." She says still smiling. I decide them and there that I didn't like that smile.

"Yes I am" I reply slowly "what can I do for you" I ask her quietly. "I'm here to offer a position, of sorts, to you" she says still smiling.

"What type of position" I ask trying to stay calm. "One that could save what is left of the human race." She tells me. "Here I will be back tomorrow or an answer. Take this it will explain some of the minor details" she says and hands me a pamphlet before turning around and leaving. I stare after her in shock before transferring my gaze to the pamphlet I now hold in my hands.

Slowly I walk back inside and race Back up to my room. Once I close my bedroom door I sit down on my bed and open the pamphlet. Slowly I begin to flip through it. I stopped on one page labeled information and gasped at the picture. It was a strange humanoid looking man with red hair. He had blue tinted skin and was holding a strange looking machine. I began to read.
Mana'ora is the lead developer, he leads research in how to develop ways to preserve the human race. He has created a breakthrough that will preserve any human that has not been affected by the perpetua virus. I stopped there and held my finger over the address posted at the bottom of the page. "Florida" I almost yelled it at the top of my lungs.

My family lived in Salt Lake City in Utah. Florida was on the east coast meaning I would most likely take a plane to get there, and I've never been on a plane before. I couldn't believe it, I could leave my family here and save myself, but that doesn't seem fair. After a moment and idea hit me. I could go to Florida make myself safe and then go and take care of those affected by the virus. With a sigh I hoped off my bed and crouched down beside. Carefully I pulled out my suitcase and walked over to my dresser. I began to pack myself up for tomorrow, I decided it would be best to bring some extra cloths since I didn't know how long I would be in Florida for, before coming home. I stopped when I heard shuffling outside my bedroom door. "H-hunny, w..who was at t-the do..or" it was my mother slowly I stood up and walked to my door. "It's nothing Mom" I said deciding to keep my plans quiet. I heard her footsteps retreating down the hall back towards her room.

I decided that I would leave a note on my door tomorrow after I left. I knew they would try and stop me from going, but if I didn't I wouldn't be able to take care of them without getting the virus myself.

Once I was done packing I walked over to my desk pushed into the corner of my room. I sat down in my spiny chair and let it spin for a moment before stopping facing the desk. Slowly I pulled out a piece of looseleaf paper and began to write explaining where I was going at that I would hopefully be home soon. Once I was done writing I returned to my bed and collapsed closing my eyes, "I might as well sleep" I tell myself before making myself comfortable and waiting for sleep to overtake me.
