I. Introduction
Good morning everyone, and have a nice day!
First of all, thank you for coming here to day and for those of you who don’t know us, my name is Hang, and beside me is Xen. We both are the fourth student of Faculty of English at Hanoi Open University, come from class: K16A13. Before starting our presentation to day we want to share with you our concern about leaning English process. As you know, a good english student is person who is good at speaking, writing, reading, listening and something like that, but wants speaking, writing, reading, listening well you have to good grammar, good pronunciation and a significant part we do not remind, it is good vocabulary. However, now, we have been worring about our english vocabulary and still fumbling to find effective way. We have many troubles to keep word in mind. And many times I asked yourself: why I learned English many years but my English has not improved?. It the same with you?
Ok, nice weather we are having to day and what we to do in this nice morning is to talk with you and share with you a topic vocabulary which as old as hills but still very exciting. Also we are together to find some productive way to improve this issuse.
In my speech, I’ll focus in three major issuses: I’ll start off by the importance of vocabulary in learning language. Then I’ll move onto common mistakes in building vocabulary and end with some ways to learn vocabulary effectively.
And now xen will introduce the first part to everyone.
II. Body
1. The important
1.1. A vitrual part of education
1.1.1. allow us to communication
The more vocabulary you know, the more you will understant when others speak to you.
1.1.2 It is critical to the development of reading
If the reader cannot make out a word, he will either skip it or stop reading, If students do not know how construc meaning of the words, then there is no way they will comprehend the text.
1.1.3 in writing, vocabulary is an indispensable tool
If you have several synonyms (words with similar meanings), you;ll be able to choose the best word for the job.
As you know, vocabulary, much more than grammar, is the key to student understanding what she hears, reads, writes in school; and to communicating successfully with other people. Reaseach studies have shown that the strong links between having an extensive vocabulary and achieving shool success. For this reason, it ia very important for us to quickly build up a large store of words.
The second part Hang will continue.
2. Comon mistakes
As you know, building vocabulary is most basic thing in learning any new language. This is the foundation your entire English sits upon. But in learning vocabulary process, you can take some common mistake which can be obstacle to progress. So finding and pointing- out mistake, it also a good way help you can find a effective way for yourself to learn well vocabulary.
Ok, so as I mentioned the fist thing. I ‘m going to talk about the first mistake it is:
2.1 mistake 1:starting to pratice before you understand it
example: you read the text with many new words in it. But you get no explanation about what this word mean or you do get an explanation but don’t actually understand it. You think, This is a good way or bad way to learn?
Conclusion: understand the explanation before you start pratising. Practising will increase your understanding, but if you practise without idea behind it, that won’t really help you.
So I think you have now got a good understanding of the first mistake, right?
Now, so let me move onto the second. You…
2.2 Mistake 2: memorizing data “like a prarrot” with no practice
example: your teacher gives you a list of 20 new words. You look up the words in the dictionary and copy definitions, you write them a gain and a gain in your notebook. You really memorize them. But you don’t actually use them. Now imagine, you are in New York, trying to make a conservation. Can you guess, how much benefit can you get from those words? Much or not much?
Conclusion: data is all nice and well, but it doesn’t help you much unless you pratice it and unless you can use it.
Ok, the last one is:
2.3 inundating your brain with too many words
Build vocabulary slowly, but surely. It is no overnight job. If you try to memorize to many words at once, it’s guaranteed that won’t remember them all and you won't have the time to learn them thoroughly. You have to gradually build vocabulary and master each word before heading on to the next set of words. This way, you won't easily forget those words you have learned previously.
In brief, We have past 3 mistake when building vocabulary: the fist……
So I think you have now got a good understanding all of the mistakes, right?now, move on the last part is:
I will give Xen the floor.
III. The ways to memorize English vocabulary
So, What is the best way to memorize vocabulary words? This question is not easy to answer, but I think that you can find a effective way for yourself to learn. Such as, use game, choosing the topic area that interests you very much, then go on to the words that you can associate with the things, activities or people around you or to create a vocabulary tree…Recalling the words will be easier this way.
1. Read read and read
As you know, reading is one of the best way help we enhend your vocabulary, but when we read a text with many new words in it, what will we do?
- Generally, we will read text, find the new words, look for definition and write them down, we can read more one or two times and we only stop it. I belive that, after 3 or 4 days we surely forget it at all.
- And now, we will appy read read and read method.
Back to the text, after we read, underlight new word, look for new words in the dictionary but we write meaning of this word in the another paper.( remember don’t write the text, write in another paper), we also write the way pronunciation, and speak out. Read again the text: when we reach new word, we stop and memorize the meaning of this word, if we don’t remember look in the paper or look up in the dictionary again. Continue read this text.
- But, what I want to emphersize is that, you have to pratice this method in the long time. It mean that a text you have to do this method for a week, a day is 3 times: morning, afternoon and at night.
- Research show that it takes from 10 to 20 repetitions to really make a word part of your vocabulary.
And now Hang will share with you another effective way
2. Vocabulary is fun
Ok, we just know about the read, read and read method. In this method we use eyes to learn, ear to learn and mouth to learn. and now we will do action to learn.
Now we are together see a video
Ok, Have anyone ever try to this way?. Let’s pratice with me
Grin - it is noun or verb in action
- Meaning: very very big smile
- So What is the smile? This is grin…we say grin: big or super smile
- And phrase we pratice is : “big grin”
- When I say “big grin” you, we do this. OK?
Xen. Conclusion: and that bring me to the end of our presentation, let me give you some a summary of what we have been talking about over the 20 minutes. First, we said about why vocabulary is important the a gave some example and explaination of common mistake when building vocabulary, finally I introduce some implement to learning and developing vocabulary.
Lastly, We want to emphesize that:
Xen. Remember that vocabulary goes from passive knowledge to active knowledge - this means that you need to repeat a word often before it becomes active vocabulary.
Hang.Be patient with yourself, it takes time for this process to work.
Xen.Try to always learn vocabulary in groups of words instead of random lists. In this manner, words are related to each other and are more likely to remembered over the long-term.
Hang. Try learning at least 10 words a day. Write them down or use them in conversations, and look for them in the texts you read.

People watching movies often think it’s only for entertainment. But they still love it as there are some touching their heart and soul, bring them different feelings that stay with them long after watching those movies. As for me, the movie that moved me most is indeed a cartoon, and it would be difficult for me to put into words the feelings I experiencedfrom this movie. It is “Spirited away” directed byHayaoMiyazaki.
To begin with, the contain of “Spirited Away” gave me a brand new look because it’s like no other. It tells the story of a girl named Chihiro stepping into an adventure to rescue her parents from a strange land inhabited by the spirits and find her way home. But there is so much trouble that she must handle. Firstly, she has to beg for a job from Yubaba, and clean a “stink spirit”, which turns out to be a river spirit. Next, she tries to save her friend Haku, despite the obstacle of “No Face”. Then she goes on a train to Zaniba’s house to return her gold seal that Haku steals. Finally, Chihiro is set free to come back home with her parents. This contain is really interesting. I must say that if “Spirited away” were a song, Hayao Miyazaki would be a great composer to have composed such beautiful lyric.
The second reason for my being attracted by this film is the characters. Each of them represents for a part of humanity. I do admire Chihiro and Haku, who are very brave to face with every danger. I am really impressed by No Face, a character representing for human’s greed. He is a masked wraith who can eat either food or people. And there are such many special characters as cruel Yubaba who only holds her son in great affection, Lin and Kamaji with all their heart to help Chihiro, big Boh and other monsters and spirits, etc. Although Miyazaki himself drew these characters, all of them have their own exceptional characteristics, making them unforgettable.
Finally, the film deeply moved me as it brings educational value about every aspect in life: judgement, friendship, loyalty, courage and respect. A weak and clumsy Chihiro has changed after the adventure, becoming more courageous and responsible, and especially she knows how to love. Another character, No Face being kept alive by people’s greed has not a face because he is in fact the darkness inside human’s soul. And eight-arm Kamaji and shrewish Lin always standing by Chihiro prove that beauty is only skin deep. So many things can I infer from after watching this meaningful movie.
I think hardly any cartoon gives me as well as many other people such a strong impression like this. There are no heroes or fairies in “Spirited away”. But if anyone is finding something to refresh their soul, maybe all they should do is watching this, because not any other movies can give you such inspiration as “Spirited away” does.
Overall, I would strongly recommend this movie, and, not just for the kids. Take your mind off the stereotypical animations, you'll enjoy this Japanese flavoured adventure and be, well, Spirited Away.

TOPIC: WILL TECHNOLOGY CAN REPLACE
TEACHER IN THE FUTURE
I. Introduction
Technology becomes more and more popular in modern society. It is applied in many fields, especilly, in education field. But the question is that “Will technology can replace teacher in the future?”
II. Body
1. Benefits of technology in education
It’s underniable that technology brings many benefits for people’s life, especially, in the education field.
a. Various information
b. Ease of teaching
Education technology have made teaching quite easier for the intructors. Vitual classrooms allow an instructor to instruct and teach in any locations around the world and reach students residing in remote locations where his physical presence is almost impossible.
c. Enjoy experience
The inclusion of technology in education has made the teaching-learning process an enjoyable and beneficial experience for the insrtuctors and the learners.
2. Despite benefits of educational technology, we strongly believe that it can not replace teachers in the future.
a. Teachers can understand student’s feeling
à Firstly, It’s clear that: Teachers understand student’s feeling, which is impossible to receive from any kind of technology.
Ex: - Teachers know that: what are the lessons make students may feel difficult to aware
- Or: who are students have more talent than others in the class.
Therefore, teachers will choose the most suitable teaching way to get effective
b. They do not speak out, but they also have body language and eyes contact
à Secondly, When teachers are teaching, they do not only speak out, but they also have body language and eyes contact.
As you can know, all of these activities in the teaching process make learners more impressive, so they can take more notice & pay more attention => as a result of this, they are able to study more easily and remember information a long time.
c.Teachers help you have motivation to learn better
à Finally, teachers help you have motivation to learn better.
Can you imagine à in the future, you just study with your computers, even in which have enormous information – BUT, Do you think you will have enough motivation for your studying???
In the present, we have teachers:
- Sometimes, teachers put you pressures to motivate you finish your homework, assignments…
- OR, even teachers may have some strict disciplines when you break the rules in the class => which fosters you become more responsible person
- Especially, teachers always encourage you try your best à that bring for you more energy to learn
HOW TECHNOLOGY CAN DO THAT???
III. Conclusion
In conclusion, I just agree that technology will be the most useful tools to support education, and never can replace teacher.
Even one day, technology reaches a highest achievement but people can not be successful without teacher.
