With claps of congratulatory from the audience, the talent show ended. Hyunjin and Seungmin didn't win like many had expected but they only thought it was because Seungmin had an injury. Placing second place was already amazing when they added Seungmin playing the piano at the last minute without proper practice. Jisung was a bit baffled since, in the past, he remembered that both of them placed third place.
It was like a golden chance for Hyunjin. The second place would be more attractive than in third place, right? For sure, many unis will be attracted to him and now if only the teachers do a good job promoting Hyunjin and Seungmin to the University Of Art oversea. It was part of the prize after all. Felix was still clapping his hands enthusiastically when Jisung tried to call him but the cheerful boy was way too focused on the trophy Seungmin was holding whilst Hyunjin was sitting at the cornerback of the hall. Jisung slowly approached him and popped out a bottle of cider in front of the tired out Hyunjin. With an infectious smile, he said, "Here to refresh you"
It wasn't like Jisung poisoned the cider or spike a drug into it but Hyunjin was glaring at the bottle for a good long time before he eventually take it. The look on his face was unreadable, despite the infectious smile on Jisung's face, Hyunjin's expression hadn't improve. He looked unwell. At first, Jisung thought it was because he was drained out from performing but it most likely wasn't.
The gloomy boy had to reluctantly scooted to the side when Jisung asked to sit next to him but he did it without saying anything which indicated that something had happened. "Are you upset you get second place?", like a nail hammered on the right spot, Hyunjin stunned and tried to make no eye contact with Jisung.
The assumption was correct. He didn't like placing second place but Jisung didn't see where the problem was since he knew Hyunjin would definitely get the scholarship. Again, the assumption made was correct but it was a little bit off. Hyunjin didn't really want to talk about it, so, he just avoided everyone and sometimes smiling cryptically by himself when he saw Seungmin. It's not that difficult to notice he was upset, Jisung knew well but it was a bit difficult to guess why.
Maybe he needed some fresh air and not being around someone he proclaimed as his nemesis like Jisung. To be honest, he was surprised when he saw Jisung from the stage. Yeah, he knew somehow that he might be there for Seungmin and not him but it was hard to pinpoint when he was looking a Hyunjin all the time. He was distracted, the whole time through out the talent show because of a certain pair of eyes that were looking at him very intensely. It didn't help that Jisung was walking around with his hoodie on and he looked rather comfortable with it.
Yes, a fresh air was needed.
So, he excused himself by calling Felix to keep Jisung away from him and he went out. He didn't want to join the talent show. He never did. It was because he wanted to avoid any kind of disappointment. If he placed 4th place maybe he would be happy but he ddn't dare to say he was unhappy since Seungmin was sincerely elated. His parents wouldn't agree on this. His parents won't let him go oversea even if he won the prize.
"To think I would feel like this again", then he paused, the realization of the words that had just came out from his mouth was unreal and illogical. Nothing seemed to be wrong with his words, every words were pronounced correctly and he used the correct grammar but the additional 'again' at the end of his own words bothered him. It was like a deja vu but not quite.
The sky above him started to grumble. Not enough with the cold morning, it was starting to rain. He didn't like the rain. He used to like the rain but for some reason, today he hated it. It's the worst feeling ever. Maybe a fresh air wasn't what he needed.
He went back into the school hall. All the students were gathering around, waiting for the rain to stop just so that they can go back to their clubrooms. He was walking around aimlessly, feeling not so fine because of the weather until he saw Jisung who he had tried avoiding looking a while ago and he felt...relieved. For no apparent reason, Jisung smiling with his friends appeased Hyunjin.
It wasn't like the times when he felt like wanting to pet Jisung's head because he looked cute when he was angry, it wasn't like the time when he felt like pinching Jisung's nose because he was being too noisy. Those were thoughts that came because of the state of the moment but this one was different.
He wanted to talk to Jisung but he was a bit angry. It wasn't like he didn't know Jisung asked Ryujin and Yeji to put him up for this competition. He just didn't voice out his anger. There was no use in scolding Jisung since it wasn't the first time the younger tried to infuriate him.
The rain stopped, the students were relieved that they can go back to their clubrooms. Felix was staring at him for a long minute but left without saying anything. It felt itchy, Felix was looking at him in a way he started feeling odd. The last person Felix talked with was Jisung and Jisung still had the same wide smile on his face unlike Felix who was looking serious.
Someone needed to clean the school hall and even if he was only one of the participant, he wasn't excluded from the whole process. He wasn't a VVIP that could stand there without doing anything.
The cleaning necessities were handed out to everyone involved except Jisung who was trying to help. Ryujin pushed Jisung aside and called one of his friend to drag him out. Jeongin managed to pull him out somehow. "What an idiot", It was said with no malice. He was just thinking if he did the right thing giving his hoodie to Jisung since it looked like even he didn't catch a cold, he would somehow injured himself in a way or two.
He turned his head away , joking the other committee members who were cleaning the hall room.
"What's up with you?", Jisung asked Felix once he joined the others inside their classroom. For them who didn't have any club to join, they were free to visit any club but none of his friends felt like to do so.
Felix was all over the food in their classroom. It was one of Jeongin secret stash that had been brought up somehow by Jisung,Seungmin and Felix for the class to enjoy.
Back to the question that was forwarded to Felix. He hadn't exactly been acting off. He was only a but more quiet than he usually was. "I'm just thinking"
Jisung tilted his head, Felix was the bubbly student everybody liked because of his sun like presence but they never see this side of him. "About?"
The crease on Felix's brows showed that it was something difficult to bring up but he said it anyway. "Don't you feel like something is off?"
"You might think I'm crazy-", believe me, after everything Jisung went through even if someone said that the earth was flat he would just believe in that bullshit. He didn't think there would be any kind of bullshit that would beat time travelling and waking up from death. "I think I saw the future?"
Felix was panicking, he clearly wanted to say something else than that but couldn't put it into words. "Don't say anything yet! Let me finish explaining!", Even if he didn't say that, Jisung wasn't going to interrupt him in the first place.
Afraid they will attract any people into their conversation, Felix had to pull Jisung out from the class and they went to the nearest stairs, hiding under it. If anything, they looked more suspicious, squatting down on the floor under the stairs.
"Like I keep dreaming that I see us in the future like not exactly see it but like I feel like I actually feel it like you know?", You know, people say if you don't know what to say or arrange your words well you would say the word 'like' so often.
However, Jisung totally get that. Even he who was twice thrown into this kind of situation couldn't really put what happened to him into words well. For Felix to be able to talk about it, Jisung gave points for that but now the real concern was just what did Felix saw?
"You might think I'm crazy but-", Felix kept going on with the same words maybe because he himself thought what he saw was kind of crazy and Jisung wasn't responding. It may seemed like Jisung was judging him in Felix's eyes. "You're married to Hyunjin!"
Felix waited for Jisung's respond, he was assuming Jisung would think he was crazy or Jisung would start cursing at him. "I know".
That one line of words completely thrown Felix off.
The look of terror in Felix's eyes were as if he was asking "What do you mean by you know?"
A sigh escaped Jisung's lips. "You're the one who tell me this yet you're the one who looks so perplexed" if anything, shouldn't he be the one reacting like this? After all, he thought all this time travelling and amnesia thing could only happened to him.
Well, for Felix it might not be amnesia. It was close to that but it was more like awakening sort of stuff? Like when people got reincarnated, it might be possible to remember their past life.
Jisung rubbed his chin, could it be that? What happened to him was not actually just a simple waking up from death but a reincarnation into his own body back? Once he convinced himself, he nodded and grabbed Felix's shoulder who was trembling badly when he looked into Jisung's eyes.
"I think you might need to listen to my story. I hope you have time for it", The smile on Jisung's face wasn't the usual friendly smile he had,so, it would be a given Felix who was still in the middle of confusion would be a bit terrified.
Meanwhile all of that was happening, Hyunjin just finished stacking up the chairs and was now leaving the hall. He didn't really need to return to the dancing club because they weren't even doing anything other than messing around. He knew how much of a lazy bum everyone was when it came to days like this especially when half of them had also joined the talent show today.
For now, he was just thinking of the complicated look Felix was giving him but that was quickly shoved to the back of his head when he remember what awaited him at home. He didn't know whether he should tell his parents or not. It wasn't like they were cruel, they loved him to the core but they wouldn't allow him to go oversea.
Even if Hyunjin said he was going for a school trip to Busan or something, they wouldn't let him go. They only had that much of trust on him.
Although, he knew completely well that that wasn't the only reason. Once as a kid he went to a trip with the family oversea with his grandparents and he fell sick often because he couldn't get used to the climate change. So, his parents might be a bit paranoid over that and he once almost got kidnapped while he was wandering around alone.
If he said he wanted to go oversea, his parents might just drag him to his grandparents house and live there forever to keep him away from that idea.
There was also the fact that his parents didn't fully support him on being a dancer. They wanted him to continue his grandfather's business and if not, they would at least wanted him to study business. "If they want a son who study business, they should just take Felix", he paused again for the second time today.
Again, those words that had no grammatical error in it yet was very foreign to him because..."why did I mention Felix?".
