ok so i know i said last chapter that this chapter is going to be really awesome and its kinda awesome but the NEXT chapter is going to be the really big deal not saying this one isn't awesome as well.

Dick's POV

Ah, love—isn't it wonderful? It wraps you up in its warm cocoon of happiness and makes your stomach flutter with butterflies. That's how I would describe it. But I've got a colossal, all-consuming problem.

I am in love with Charlotte Rose Wayne.

You may ask, "Dick, why would being in love with Charlie be a problem?" And the answer is: she's completely oblivious to how much I love her.

I make it obvious. I truly do. I've probably tried every step known to man, but everything comes up short. I just can't win!

But not today. Today, I am a winner!

Raise your hand if the most beautiful girl in the world kissed your cheek.

Oh, just me? Yeah, I know. Pretty great. I couldn't stop smiling the rest of the night, and it carried into the next day. Walking into the cave, I could feel pure happiness coursing through me.

"What's got you so smiley, Robin?" Artemis asked, raising an eyebrow as I practically skipped into the kitchen.

"What? I'm not allowed to smile?" I joked, raising a brow behind my sunglasses.

"You are, but not this much," she teased. "But seriously, what is it?"

"It's nothing big or anything," I said with a shrug, putting my hands in my pockets. "It's ju—" I was interrupted by the computer announcing Tweety's arrival.

"Helllooooo," her voice echoed through the cave, meeting my ears. A dreamy smile instantly came to my face as I turned toward the entrance.

"Wait! Something happened with you two, didn't it?" Artemis whispered just before Tweety made her appearance.

I hushed her quickly, turning my attention back to Charlie, who skipped into the room with a grin.

"Hey, guys," she said, tilting her head slightly to the side. I had to hold back an involuntary aw. She was just too cute sometimes.

"Just waiting for B to tell us about the next mission."

"Oh, he's working today, so we have the day off!" she said excitedly, though her eyes looked a little shifty, like there was something else she wanted to say.

"Hey, maybe we could finally do that movie day we've been planning," I suggested, trying to find an excuse to spend more time with her.

Charlie hesitated. "I actually need to talk to you about something really important," she said, her voice quick and a bit nervous.

"Okay, what's up?"

"Um... could we talk about this... alone?" she asked, glancing at Artemis and Conner. Now she was really starting to worry me.

"Yeah, sure," I nodded, and she pulled me away from the group into a more secluded part of the cave. I watched her closely, trying to figure out what was going on. Her behavior was off, and my concern was growing.

"Is everything okay?" I asked, feeling uneasy. I knew her better than anyone, and right now, something was seriously wrong.

"That depends on how you take what I say," she responded cryptically.

"Char, you're kinda freaking me out here."

"I don't mean to! I'm just... nervous!" she exclaimed, throwing her hands up in frustration.

"Just spit it out," I urged. "Because the longer we stand here, the worse my head makes it."

With a frustrated shout, she pulled at her hair before locking eyes with me, and then the words tumbled out.

"I'm in love with you!"
