Part Six - Mindful
Echoes of small feet padding along tile floor made a certain blonde look up from her paperwork. Her lavender eyes met ocean blue ones behind her offices glass door.
"Galli? Why are you up so late?" Hail questioned as the 10 year old made his way inside quietly.
"I had another dream..." Galli squeaked, ducking his head under Hail's stare.
There was a tense silence. Galli ever since he was taken in by Hail's family had started to have prophetic dreams, according to Hails brother Syorn. He mentioned that Galli knew when a plane was going to crash in Danford Lake not far from the headquarters. And a number of other incidents had occured, and Galli knew about them all.
Galli is a strange child, very quiet and frail. To someone, he may look like he hadn't eaten in days, his shaggy brown hair and big ocean blue eyes giving him a very young and innocent look. But this year he had gained some well needed weight with the encouragement of Syorn and the rest in the Zara corp.
Anyway, he stood with his knees wobbling, his head down, the oversized tshirt going all the way to his knees. Galli never came into the office section unless something really scared him.
Hail abruptly stood, making her way over to the small frail boy the Corp took in a few months ago, and opened her arms. Galli ran gladly into them, clinging to her waist and burying his face into Hail's offered shoulder. Then, promptly, the small boy started to cry, all strength he had before gone. His small bony shoulders shook with his heart wracking sobs, hushed by Hail's low murmurs and comforting back rubs.
Galli spilled everything between hiccups after Hail calmed him down.
"Th-there was fire...everywhere..." Galli whispered, his voice scratchy from crying, "everything was burning...I--I heard laughter a-and...and something about 'the poison will kill them'...who are th-they talking about...?"
"...I don't know sweety..." Hail carefully replied, bemused by the dream he bad and trying to swallow the information. Galli's dreams hadn't been proved wrong yet.
Poison?

Hail sighed shakily, standing in the ruins of what used to be her first floor office. She stared at her exposed arm, looking at the very poison he was talking about. She bit back tears, swallowing, and she continued her search. The search for the bracelets. It was a place to start, anyway. Since no one other than the higher up's burned the Corp HQ and blew the top half apart, Hail pryed through the rubble of what used to be her Co workers and families offices.
Within the course of three hours, the Sickness was covering her thighs, her waist and her back covered now. Everything hurt, an angry pain that demanded attention, screaming at every movement. But Hail was finally up to the last searchable flight.
Hail was sweating, her heart torn and her head swirling. She wanted to sit down, but she couldn't, not now. She was so close. So close to finding a lead, a paper, something.
She found a loose panel.
Curious, she tugged it up with what little strength she had left, the burn in her lungs worse. A safe. In the floor, under the tile. On the 13th floor.
Without hesitation, she looked at the lock. She suddenly remembered...

Galli stopped at the door, his chubby hand hovering over the door handle.
"Something else, Galli?" Hail inquired.
"Yeah...er...a string of numbers...5-10-13-40..."
"A code?" Hail wondered aloud.
Galli shrugged, and silently left.

She jerked the knob on the safe sloppily, trying her best with her pain ridden arms and hands. After two tries she questioned the order of numbers. After ten times of switching the order she groaned in annoyance. After five more tries, she was doubting it was the right one. But with one more try in the original order...
