Part Four - Twisted Minds

What Hail found was making her squeamish...her arms were half covered by now by what she found was a long lost poison. It hurt so bad when she moved anything infected. Her skin looked like it was stained with black ink and her veins were easy to see through the black because of the purple glow and pulse. It was something that couldn't be cured unless it was treated properly with insanely rare items. There was no name listed where Hail found the information, or any type of identity to the items needed.

The trap made sense, in the dome room. You're blocked from behind, so tired from the long passages and fighting...if you even made it to the dome room from that point. Falling into the trap, touch the pyramid item, and you get the poisoning. To give it a name as of now, we'll name it the Sickness.

The Sickness feeds on weak bodies, the weaker the victim, the faster the take over is. It gives the victim pain from overworking muscles and powers, giving pain and nausea to the sick one. It works similar to radiation sickness. Ultimately, you die when it reaches your eyes, be it an hour, a week, or a month. It depends on how the victim is built as a person, environmental varibles, and other causes.

A light in the darkness was a strategy.
Two bracelets, when worn together, make the poison dormant. Meaning, it only stalls the poisoning, but it extends the wearer's lifetime. Having only one of the bracelets help by making the Sickness slower than molasses, but leave some side effects that seem like an everlasting pneumonia. Having both bracelets diminishes any form of movement from the Sickness, and erases the side effects.

And this is the only known way to stop the Sickness thus far. From the papers, it seemed like they were trying to make a cure using chemicals and other means of research to try to find a way to kill it for good. It referenced the higher up's planning to use it for themselves multiple times, and none to the agents or anyone outside their small group.

The small room Hail discovered, she concluded, was a treasury of knowledge...sort of. This was all she needed as evidence. And she needed to move fast.

Why?

Because Hail realized right after reading all about the Sickness and it's effects...the alarm popped into her mind. Who did the alarm warn?

Probably to the higher up's, telling that the research station was compromised. From the papers, they noted of the higher up's plans to destroy Zara corp...along with everyone who worked for the company. This made Hail desperate.

Hail gathered the papers into a single Manila folder painfully, and shoved it quickly into her bag along with the pyramid item that was now in a small protected box. She high-tailed it over to the teleporter. With some difficulty, Hail logged the coordinates near where she had left her trusty levitating motorcycle outside the caves, and stepped on the small circular platform.

Hail's vision blurred for two seconds, and in a flash of green, she appeared in a field of flowers, near a large mountain side, surrounded by a vast circle of trees. Just where she wanted to be. Hail ran to her parked bike, with a sigh of relief at the sight that it was untouched while she was away, lept on the machine and pressed her hand to the built in scanner. It recognized her hand print, and revved with a brrrrrrryyyyyyyynnnn--

She slammed the gas, and she sped off. Destination, Zara corp HQ.

Hail prayed she would make it.
