Reunion

Shortly after the disastrous encounter, she had with the late Amanda and her carnivorous stalker, Natalie managed to evade trouble for a while as she heard the opposite way she came before. She had gone through a lot ever since she became stranded on this island, she fell from a crashing plane, trees got hunted by an extinct mammal not once but twice, bruised, dirty, and even now emotionally distraught. Whenever events like this happen, most of the time the danger isn't physical but emotional, the damage it causes to your brain is impeccable and sometimes impossible to recover from it.

Natalie wanders out of the foliage reaching another clearing, this one included a metal structure surrounded by an enormous manmade lagoon. She came closer to the building seeking for many ways to get in touch with safety. Out of nowhere, she could hear distant screams of fright coming from the tunnels, that came closer and closer to her. Natalie retreated waiting for any results. The elevator shaft was raising up the engines somehow were still in action, possibly due to some technical issue, and to her surprise whoever was stuck within the tunnels managed to escape alive from the creature residing in the lagoon.

Everett fell to his knees breathing heavily, he had just escaped from two threats at the very same time, that could end in the same way. He squeezed his hair sighing heavily, "You guys okay?" He asked as he turned around to see his allies detonated and partially wet due to the possible flood. To his surprise there was someone already up, he looked into the person's eyes, soon realizing who it truly was, "Natalie."

"EVERETT." Natalie cried out in happiness, she limped toward her old friend, running into a warm hug.

Everett's expression changed as soon as she came into contact with him he pushed her a few steps back, "Nat, what are you doing here?"

"I came here to save you." Natalie responded holding onto his arms, "I know it's been a really long time, I'm so sorry, I've been pathetic, and I'm so so sorry."

Everett began to comfort her, knowing the tactics to calm her down, "Hey, hey, it's okay, things happen for a reason, this was the way it had to be."

Slightly uncomfortable, Samuel cleared his throat to break the awkwardness going on behind the reunion, "We're still here."

Natalie shifted her focus to the other survivors gasping at the sight of the Lang sisters, "Girls? You-"

"Natalie." The two girls beamed with joy, embracing the woman tightly.

"What are you two doing here?" Natalie questioned showing a lot of concern for the girls.

"A lot has happened in your absence." Samuel coincided showing signs of annoyance.

"I'm sorry who are you?" The separated woman asked, repaying him with a taste of his own medicine.

The scientist responded with a little short temper, "I'm Samuel Heo, the man who rescued your little boyfriend."

"I'm Yvelisse, the chief of the Tun-Si tribe."  Yvelisse stood up and complimented Natalie with a kind handshake.

Natalie accepted her greetings with a constructive reply, "I've read a lot about your people, I am more than grateful to meet you."

"The feeling is mutual, great fan of your work." Yve commented as she pocketed her hands.

Missy adjusted her wheelchair stating, "Sorry to be that person but, we're still out here where dinosaurs are free."

"Right." Everett scratched his chin in his classic way, "Oh shit, I lost my gun."

Samuel added only to give another negative comment, "So did I."

Now moving along with their escape route, the group has decided to walk on foot, with the ranger station being their top priority, where they would be able to get a jeep and drive to the airfield without being exposed out in the open.

"Sorry, we were trying to escape through the tunnel" Everett placed his hands on his hips, sighing heavily, "Apparently we took the wrong turn."

Natalie looked at the group, asking "What was it?"

"Elasmosaurus." Alice replied while cleaning her wounds with a piece of fabric, "Kinda territorial."

"Yikes." Natalie explicated, "A lone Panthera Atrox wouldn't stop hunting me, these creatures have no idea of what they are or where they are."

"Did you just say there was an American Lion roaming freely on this island?' Samuel questioned walking closer to her side.

Natalie nodded affirming his questions, with Everett exceeding her, "You're the lead scientist and you don't know what creatures they had here?"

Samuel scoffed, giving a fair explanation, "You really think I would be given special treatment after what happened under my watch last year? I was demoted, some woman took my rank, and just this year I was transferred here."

Soon after his explanation, a strange-looking silhouette flew right over them, without their remark. There was a moment of complete silence following the supposed creature flying over them. Alice disbanded the party and walked closer to the border between the dirt road and the woods, as she walks past a tree she notices movement. She takes. a few steps back, analyzing the bark. She looks closely into the wood, a feathery-looking creature makes itself revealed as it emitted a loud alarming sound.

Alice jumped back into the group, the flying creature was joined by an entire swarm of members from the same species. It was a small flying reptile mostly covered in feathers, it lacked a beak had a squashed face and round black eyes, and its feathers followed the pattern of trees, allowing it to camouflage. The presence of the animal seemed to attract larger pterosaurs, average-sized long lang reptiles.

"What the hell are those?" Yvelisse asked covering her face, avoiding the attacks from the diving ones.

"Anurognathus." Natalie trembled her voice staying close to the group, "Is that a?"

"MOGANOPTERUS." Everett responded dodging one of the species he had just mentioned, "RUN."

The group consisting of six people ran toward the ranger station as the flock of pterosaurs chased after them. The reptiles appeared to have burn marks on their backs as the shielding system halted them from flying off from the island. The tiny owl-looking creatures scratched and bit some of the members with the pterosaurs diving onto them and beaking.

Luckily they had reached the ranger station each one of them making it out alive, barricading the entrance with desks, evading the triggered animals.
