Grief

Emptiness. Like, a void. All that is left are corpses and roaming Compsoganthus feeding on dead bodies human or dinosaurs and enormous fireflies exploring new territory. Blood marks splattered on walls, footprints all over the floor, dropped objects. The entire building was completely abandoned. Except for one part, the event hall. A woman was severely injured by the Utahraptor's she struggled to stand, dropping to the door as she was knocked down by the table and its cutlery. The woman accepted fate, holding her deceased husband's hand and closing her eyes, accepting her obvious demise. From all places, this was the bloodiest and gloomiest room in the surroundings.

Except there was still human life in this exact same room, Yvelisse, the chief's daughter. She looked alive outside, but she was dead inside. The girl lost her father in a terrible way all she wanted was revenge for his death but what could she possibly do. She held her father's body in her arms, rocking him back and forth, hoping that there would be a way that he came back.

"Ye' r ba tsirìwẽ" Yvelisse kept repeating the same words, feeling guilty about the situation. She felt like she had killed her father, "Kë̀ ye' wã I chẽ̀r." Besides she was all alone, she had no family other than him, and her village moved on with their lives, her father was basically the only spark of hope she had for her entire culture. But then, she heard a different sound, that wasn't the sound of screams or blood dripping, a sign of life.

A strange man, that didn't look threatening or terrible limped in. He leaned on the corner of the entrance groaning in pain. Yvelisse looked at him but her father was still her top priority, she also took notice that her father didn't instantly die but he did die slowly and it was painful, which hurt her even more. The man sighed, "Hey you."

Yvelisse raised her head, ignoring him once again.

He introduced himself moving closer to the girl, "I'm Samuel, you can call me Sam."

"I didn't ask." Yvelisse replied, not hiding a single bit of her tears, "Get away from me."

"You don't seem like an approachable person, wow." Samuel approached her, noticing the dead man in her arms.

Yvelisse eyed him, clearly not getting his point.

"I'm sorry about your loss." Samuel kneeled down, patting her back.

"You don't know anything about him." Yvelisse seethed, then looked at the guy's name card, feeling offended "You work for these monsters."

Samuel sighed, sitting down, "Right now, I wish I didn't."

Yvelisse brushed her father's hair, this time listening to his words.

"You know at first I didn't think it was gonna get this bad." Samuel began, "My dream job was to make dinosaurs but I didn't get into Jurassic World. So I joined this random company called 'Geneticorp.' And it was amazing at the time, I loved experimenting and making these beautiful creatures. But it got worse and I discovered their real intentions and it was too late to leave."

Yvelisse mourned but gave the man a small nod.

Samuel queried, referring to her father, "Do you want to talk about this then?"

Yvelisse took a deep sigh, explaining, "My father and I descendants are from the Tun-Si tribe that originally lived in Isla Nublar. Our family has been fond of our culture for generations, and then Mt. Sibo got into action. Thus causing our sacred animals to nearly become extinct. We came here to fight for these animals and for the dinosaurs. But now all of that is gone and my father's dream is dead."

Samuel took a few moments to take all of that in, he expressed, "It doesn't have to be, his dream is alive, he is alive, in you. You are the one who will honor him and make your ancestors proud."

Yvelisse's realization kicked in, the young scientist was right, she was the one to save the animals and finish her father's purpose.

"I didn't get your name." Samuel added, trying to create a safe relationship.

"Yvelisse." She replied, taking her tears in.

"I'll call you Yve." Samuel uttered, as he realized his wound was feeling a lot better.

Yvelisse then kissed her father's forehead saying a few chant words and finally standing up. She gave Samuel an assuring nod. Since the building was abandoned, they mounted on a motorcycle and hit the road. The new duo had the one goal to fulfill Chief Mora's dream and that was exactly what they were going to do.
