Escape

After the whole fiasco with the pterosaurs and arboreal herbivores. The split groups began to look for their significant others everywhere. The building was surprisingly empty, no humans seemed to be present anymore neither did the dinosaurs, gunshots were still harkening through the immense halls. With the two girls either injured or undefended, the adults began to lose strength and get tired since they have merely injured themselves, but their top priority was to leave that place as soon as possible. Now just a few doors away they began to fight for their survival and then, both pairs burst through a pair of doors that led to the exact same location, a balcony with a view to the main lobby.

Everett was alleviated to see Natalie and to finally see that Missy was safe, placing her on a regular chair. "Nat." He rushed to the woman giving her and the girl a passionate hug, "Are you okay?"

Natalie chuckled, saying "Yes we're fine, but could be better."

Alice then saw Missy on the floor, she darted towards her, "Missy."

"Oh my god, Alice." Missy hugged her younger sister tightly, "Are you okay, were you hurt?'

"Ow." Alice groaned in pain, stepping back, "My arm."

Missy then looked at Natalie, "What happened."

"Chased by a herd of raging herbivores, you?" Natalie replied in a sarcastic but not funny way.

"Pterosaurs." Missy replied, now realizing that both of the adults could be in fact, good people.

"Sandy?" Alice questioned, holding her arm in pain.

"Sorry Alice, she didn't make it." Missy mourned, tilting Alices chin up.

Everett continued, "She passed in a heroic way, saving your sister."

Alice gave Everett a soft smile, wiping her tears.

"Ev, you better take a look at this." Natalie called as she observed an inconvenient operation from the edge of the balcony. Everett then joined her watching what was supposedly going on.

The containment team had arrived, thus explaining the gunshots and lack of dinosaurs. Several men were tying the pterosaurs to nests and carrying them into a fortified truck. Not far from them was the container filled with Othnielias being lifted up by a helicopter. The operation seemed to be moving on fast. The same commander from the base in Sacramento was leading this operation, "Listen up folks. Focus on the bigger animals the smaller ones doesn't really make a difference."

A younger woman walked towards the boss standing by him politely, saying "We've contained them all sir."

"Good." The man patted the bottom of the truck, shouting, "We're good to go, men!"

Alice moved closer to the glass, "Who are they?" She gave the adults a concerned look.

"Bad people." Missy replied as she hauled her to them, "Like our father."

Natalie kneeled down to talk to the girls, "Those men hurt dinosaurs."

"And we were here to help them." Everett reasoned, patting Alices shoulder.

"It didn't work out like expected." Natalie continued, "We're really sorry about this."

"It's not your fault that the pterosaurs decided to attack me or that the weird herbivores chased my sister." Missy clarified with confidence, "Dinosaurs are animals and they must follow their instincts, and we understand that."

"You're really smart for a teenager." Natalie expressed, "Besides our mission clearly failed so let's just leave and get you to your parents."

Before Everett and Natalie even had time to get up, Missy interrupted, "No, our father is a bad man. Take us with you, please."

Alice showed uncertainty, but she did understand that dinosaurs are animals, and going back to her old life would be boring, so she did not interfere.

"No." Everett implied, "You two have gone through enough we need to get out."

"What's the worse that could happen." Missy discussed, "We've seen our thousands of people dying before our own eyes including our mother. Alice has gone through anything that you can imagine and I lost the ability to walk. So then again, what's the worse that could happen?'

"Fine." Everett sighed, "But you have to know that anything is possible."

The girls nodded in understatement, following the adults. Now they reached the lower ground, Natalie was leading the way while Everett carried Melissa and Alice stuck together with them. The group observed the mercenaries harm the Giganspinosaurus by sawing one of its shoulder spikes with an electric saw. As they achieved their goal they shoved it inside a crate.

"Monsters." Natalie huffed while analyzing the scenario. Natalie saw a free vehicle that seemed to be empty, "Come on."

The group sneaked their way towards the vehicle. Everett firstly placed Missy in the middle, Alice could seat on Missy's lap since she wouldn't really feel anything, he hopped in shutting the door. As Natalie made her way to the driver's side she was caught by the boss.

"Look who's back." The old man nagged, placing a hand on his waist.

Natalie's eyes shut down as she got back into character, "Sir."

Commander scoffed, "So you're responsible for the Utahs?"

Natalie's soul left her body, looking at Everett nervously.

"Don't pull any stunts this time, because things will get ugly for you." The man patted Natalie's shoulder, leaving to another sector, "NOW GIT."

"Shit." Natalie cussed as she hopped into the truck, "We're fucked."

"Why?" Missy asked, showing concern.

Natalie started the truck, following the rest of the vehicles, "We work for them now."

As the truck was leaving, it drove over a speed bump, causing a screw to loosen up, and that screw happens to belong to the container's door.
