Ch. 2: Present Day

The year is 2024. The village after a million something years has become the city of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Vin Vin's frozen body remains up in the mountains where he still resides and remains behind ice after millenniums or so.

There's a young woman who lives by herself in a small two-bedroom house. That would be you. (Y/N) (L/N). You're twenty-two years old. You come from a wealthy family. Your mom Fumiko owns a clothing store under her name and your dad Ren owns a car business under your guys' last name. (L/N).

(Your parents' home. Your old family home.)

You were born there in Colorado Springs. Your parents were both born in Kyoto, Japan. They moved to the states when they were both twenty. They had you when they were twenty-three. Your dad got rich off a lottery ticket and that's when it all started. Your mom started running her clothing business and your dad the car business. Hence, making you all rich.

Despite being the only child and being spoiled as a kid, your parents still kept their tradition and had some expectations from you. Your mom, especially. She always told you to find a decent man. One that's refined and proper. Not some trailer park trash or anything. She's picky about which people you choose.

Your mom also expected your grades to be an A or a B because if it was below a B, she would've been disappointed. Much to her joy, you were a smart kid in school and made A's and A-'s. You did fail one class one time. P.E.

You just couldn't do P.E. The only class you weren't acing. (Be honest. How many of us could for real unless you were quote on quote 'built for it'? XD) Your mom scolded you a little, but she told you that as long as you aced your other classes and got those grades right, she'd be happy.

As much as your parents really do love you, by the time you were eighteen they told you it was time for you to finally move out and attend college. You went to University of Phoenix. You had a dorm and everything while in college, studying culinary arts.

Your roommate was kind of lazy and toxic, but you still tolerated her. You've faced much worse in high school with a popular girl named Hannah Stone. This roommate in college just slacked off most of the time. She didn't last long enough to graduate like you did. Her name was Beth Morganheimer.

You were great at culinary stuff because your parents also had you cook at an early age. At least three to four years of age. So now, you're skilled at cooking just about anything. Meat, seafood, vegetables, desserts, side dishes, etc.

Right now, you're at home after getting off work. You work dayshifts at a Mexican restaurant with your best friend Carmen Ramirez. Her parents own the restaurant you both work at. You've been friends since nearly birth. You've been close. Her parents weren't as ambitious as yours, but her mom can get pretty bitchy at times when she wants to and cusses Carmen's dad out. She treated Carmen herself as a princess.

Unlike you though, your friend Carmen has a criminal record. Why? Because back in high school when Hannah Stone kept making fun of you, SHE was the one who snapped. She went after her and dumped water on her face, smeared her makeup and not just that... but she also got a pocketknife out, kicked her down and put some cuts on her face, making a few incisions and leaving her screaming.

Carmen herself told her, "This is what you get for bullying! Especially towards my friend, you skank ass bitch!" She was later taken into police custody. Luckily for you, your parents helped you bail your friend out. Your parents and her parents are also very close friends.

Carmen told you that she felt being behind bars for a brief time was worth it. She was defending you, after all. She even told a guy one time that she'd cut his balls off if he so much as tried to come onto you very strongly. He just backed away, not risking anything. He knew Carmen and knew of her record. You thanked her. The guy was a creep, anyhow.

You're both in your house right now. She came to visit you. You've both smoking a joint on the couch. You cough a bit. She smirks and says, "You're getting better at hitting that shit, girlie." You say, "You know I would've been grounded for this if my parents caught me." She says, "Now is your chance, (Y/N). You're a grown woman. Do what you want." She takes the joint and hits it.

You say, "I need to go to Walmart really soon. I need more paper towels and some more food." Carmen says, "Yeah. I hear you, chick. My stupid ex stole money from me before I kicked his ass out. I'm coming with you." You say, "Cool. We can get those King's Hawaiian rolls you love so much, too." She grins and says, "Yes. Good stuff, girlie."

You take the joint and you take a hit. This time, you do it better. You sigh and you say, "I love my parents. I just wish... they didn't expect too too much out of me. I sucked at P.E." Carmen says, "Girl, don't worry about that. P.E. isn't meant for everyone. Besides, most of your stuck-up cunts like Hannah Stone were more likely meant for that. Little miss cheerleader slash part-time model slash dance queen. I'm surprised she treated YOU like crap when you yourself come from a wealthy family."

You say, "Just because I come from one didn't make me popular. She saw me as ugly as shit." Carmen says, "Touche. But you are NOT ugly. If anything, she's the one who's gonna age like crap soon. Saggy, methed out skanky, used up hoe who's had too much dick in her pathetic life. At least YOU'RE pure, girlie."

You say, "Thank you for having my back, though." She says, "Hey, girl. Getting arrested for attacking the hoe was worth it. You're my best friend. I couldn't take it. And I know you don't like to fight with anybody. You got a heart of gold, chicky. Keep it and you won't wind up in a jail cell."

You say, "Unfortunately, the system is fucked up and they would still arrest the innocent. The actual victims. It could happen to me, eventually. It's life." She says, "Or for defending yourself." You hand her the joint and she hits it. She says, "I feel like some Korean cuisine. What about you?" You say, "Yeah. We'll go. Then we'll hit Walmart." She grins.

You get up and you walk to your keyholder on the wall, next to the front door. You grab your car keys and you look back at Carmen saying, "Alright. Let's get some of that good Korean food. Then Walmart for things we need." Carmen walks to you. You both head out and you get in your car. You get in on the driver's side and you put the key in the ignition. You start it and you pull out of your driveway. You drive off.
