Kiara's POV

It's Wednesday night and I invited my two best friends over for dinner. Tiffany and Zuki. They deserve to know I'm pregnant. Also I thought they should meet Adrian and him them. As they will be in the baby's life. "Thank you both for coming" I tell them as they help me set up the table.

"Like we were going to miss out on your mother's buttered chicken" Zuki says.

"Why are there six plates out?" Tiffany asks me.

"We are having another guest also" I tell them.

"Do you finally have a boyfriend?" she asks me excited.

"Sort of, it's complicated" I tell her.

"What's complicated? You're either dating him or not dating him" Zuki states.

"Not dating, I'll explain during dinner" I assure them. Just then the doorbell rings setting both dogs off. I groan in annoyance as Orion goes to hide. I go get it. "Enough you two" I tell them. Ruby sits while Buddy whines scratching the door. "I said enough Buddy" I tell him firmly. He runs off. No doubt to go see Jake.

I open the door to see Mr Hemlock. "Good evening" he says.

"Hello Mr Hemlock, please come in" I tell him.

"I think given our situation and location, you can call me Adrian Miss Willows" he tells me.

"Only if you call me Kiara" I tell him and he nods his head. I close the door and turn to see my friends looking at him in awe. "Adrian, these are my best friends Tiffany and Zuki. They'll be joining us for dinner" I state.

"Pleasure, Adrian Hemlock" he says. "Who is this gorgeous girl?" he asks as he allows Ruby to sniff his hand.

"My Irish Setter Ruby" I tell him.

"My mother used to have a golden retriever" he states.

"I have one called Buddy" I tell him. "You will meet him later and my cat Orion. If he comes out of hiding" I state. We go into the living room, leaving my still awestruck friends. Where Jake is playing with Buddy. "Buddy, come" I say and he runs over. He sits in front of me. "Good boy" I say giving him a pat.

"Certainly is a handsome fellow" Adrian states. Buddy yips happily.

"Who is he?" Jake asks as he gives me a hug.

"Jake, this is Adrian. Adrian this is my little brother Jake" I state. Adrian holds out his hand and Jake shakes it. Mum appears from the kitchen.

"You must be Mr Hemlock, thank you for joining us this evening. I am Jenny Willows" mum says and gives him a hug. As my friends rejoin us. "Food will be ready shortly" she states and returns to the kitchen.

"Kiara, a word" Tiffany says.

"Will you be ok?" I ask Adrian and he nods his head. I go into the hall with the girls. "What is it?" I ask them.

"How come you didn't tell us the guy is the multi billionaire Adrian Hemlock?" they demand.

"As I said it's complicated" I tell them.

"Then explain, now" Zuki tells me and Tiffany nods her head in agreement. So I explain everything. Including the pregnancy.

"Damn, you're pregnant with a billionaire's child" Tiffany says.

"You go girl" Zuki says.

"It's not like that, I don't want anything from him. But he does deserve to be apart of the child's life" I tell them. "Which is why we are getting to know each other and meeting each others relatives & close friends" I state. Just then mum calls us for dinner.

We go to the dining room and Adrian holds a chair out for me. "Thank you" I say as he pushes it as I sit down. He sits beside me. We dig into the food.

"So what do you do for a living Mr Hemlock?" mum asks.

"Please call me Adrian Mrs Willows. I'm the owner and CEO of Matrix Interpirses. We specialize in games and virtual reality. But also own a few hotels" he states.

"I actually manage one of them" mum tells him with a smile. "The Parisian Plaza" she states. 

"My mother's favourite hotel" he says with a smile. "She loves Paris and loved when my father opened a Paris hotel. She's the owner" he states.

"I've meet your mother several times, she's a lovely woman" mum tells him.

"She speaks highly of you also" he states.

"So what are your intentions with our best friend?" Tiffany asks him.

"I hope we can at least be friends for the baby's sake and co-parent" he states.

"That is my wish also" I tell him with a smile. We all continue to make small talk as we ate. Then all had ice cream for dessert in the living room as we watched the Wiggles: Wiggly Safari. I notice Jake nodding off. "Bed time" I tell him and he nods his head.

I follow him and make sure he brushes his teeth. I then waited as he changed into his pjs. Then tuck him. "Can you sing for me?" he asks.

"Of course" I tell him. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,

You make me happy when skies are grey.

You'll never know, dear, how much I love you,

Please don't take my sunshine away.

The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping,

I dreamt I held you in my arms.

When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken,

So I hung my head, and I cried.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine" I sing. I notice him asleep and smile kissing his fore head. "Sleep tight little brother" I tell him and leave. Only to run into Adrian.

"You have a lovely voice" he states.

"Thank you" I say blushing slightly. I only ever swing for Jake or mum. I used to sing more, but then dad die. Now I only do it for Jake and mum.

"You'll be an amazing mother" he states sincerely.

"That means a lot" I tell him.

"Anyway, your friends are leaving and I also have to go" he states. We go to the entrance hall. I hug my friends goodbye and they leave. "Thank you for tonight, the food was lovely" he tells mum and I.

"You're welcome here anytime dear" mum tells him and gives him a hug. "Please give your mother a hug from me" she states.

"I will" he assures her. "Good night" he says and kisses my cheek. I say good night back and he leaves.

"He's a good man dear" mum tells me as I help her with the dishes. "His mother speaks of him fondly, he has wanted a baby for a few years now" she states.

"I get that, but I just want to take things slow. There's an innocent baby involved" I remind her. We finish with the dishes and call it a night as I have school tomorrow & she has work.
