Chapter 44 Meeting Mikael And Multiple Attempted Murders

The homecoming party at Tyler's house was already in full swing by the time the two lovers arrived. They both were meant to be there earlier but decided to 'bless' their new home last minute. Klaus opened the door for Havana to step out of the car flashing her a cheeky grin having not recovered from their activities just minutes ago. Tyler looked away in uncomfortable silence upon noticing that Havana's hair was still slightly disheveled and a faint stain of lipstick was pressed on Klaus's neck. Meanwhile, the hybrid army had arrived at the place hours prior as they were part of the setup and were now discreetly roaming around the property ready to report any suspicious activity to their boss.

One of Klaus's head hybrids, Mindy, nodded at him both as a sign of acknowledgment and new updates regarding their patrol. "I will be back with you shortly my love. I have to discuss some new intel with Mindy and the others." Klaus kissed her cheek before turning to Tyler. "You. Take care of my date."

"You got it, Klaus." Tyler nodded obeying his sire. When Klaus left, Tyler held out his arm for Havana to take. "Great. Looks like I'm stuck with you now."

"Oh shut it, Lockwood. We both know you're thrilled to be spending time with me." Havana teased wrapping her arm around his before entering the house together.

Apart from the hybrids, the people at this party were all teenagers who went to school with Tyler, Elena, and their friends. Havana felt a little too old to be in a high school party, however, it was expected since it was technically their homecoming party. When they made it out in the garden where the live band was held, Havana looked around her surroundings. In a sea of teenagers, she still has not spotted any familiar faces.

"Looking for someone?" Tyler asked.

"Not really anyone in particular. I just haven't seen my cousin or her friends." She said nonchalantly but she harbored suspicion on the inside. Havana was on high alert for any possible ambush.

"Care just texted me. She and Bonnie will be here soon. As for the others, they probably haven't arrived yet either." Tyler explained.

Caroline's name triggered another thought in her head. The last time she saw the blonde girl was when she had that heated exchange with her and Elena outside the Mystic Grill before she left to find Klaus. Although that may have happened, she still considered Caroline a friend and did not want that to affect their relationship. However, she also wondered if the accusations Rebekah had made about her had any truth, particularly about her having feelings for no other than the man she was with.

It must not be true. Caroline has Tyler whom she is in a relationship

"Speaking of Caroline, how's the both of you?" Havana investigated further.

"We're fine I guess. I don't know. Things have been feeling off lately especially since everyone is now keeping their distance from me because of my sire bond with Klaus." Tyler looked surprised at the sudden interest in his relationship but answered anyway.

"I see. I can imagine how challenging it might be not knowing which side to be in. Trust me it sucks." She empathized knowing exactly how he felt. "But surely she must understand that you did not have a choice in any of this like being turned into a hybrid and having a sire bond."

"That's the thing. I did not have a choice in any of this but truthfully, if I did have a choice, I wouldn't change anything. I like being a hybrid. It feels great turning whenever I want instead of painfully turning against my will every full moon. I also feel a lot stronger and faster. and better too" He confessed smiling to himself.

This shocked Havana as she had no idea Tyler felt this way. She did feel a sense of happiness for him not imagining how someone can undergo such extreme pain every month to turn into a werewolf.

"But Care doesn't know that. And I guess I'm worried that when I do tell her all of this, she won't get it and just leave." Tyler continued and took a sip of his drink right after.

"Well, I hope that she does understand. If she really loves you, she has to at least try to be there for you like how you were for her when she first transitioned and had to adjust to life as a vampire."

"I'm not so sure about that. She hates Klaus with a burning passion. I mean, she talks about him all the time." Tyler shrugged.

Havana whipped her head in Tyler's direction increasingly getting alarmed at the possibility of her friend liking her boyfriend. Even if it was true, Havana believed that Caroline was a true enough friend to not go behind her back and act on it. Yet the feeling of being extra protective and territorial about her relationship persisted. She grew stiff getting stressed overthinking the whole situation.

"I'll be back. I need to get a drink." She excused herself from Tyler's presence going back into the house where the bar is.

Havana arrived at the bar and immediately poured herself a drink before finishing it in one gulp. She felt her body relax the moment the liquor ran down her throat and poured another drink to herself. This time, she took her time enjoying the scotch in her hand. She silently observed the party finding it odd that none of her friends were there. There was even no sight of Rebekah who told Klaus that she would be here celebrating her father's death. Suddenly, a tall man with black hair she knew too well was across from her. She smiled eagerly setting her drink down before making her way towards her best friend.

"Damon!" She called out to the Savatore brother while squeezing through a group of teenagers blocking her way.

He did not notice her presence as he was focused on something else. Havana looked behind to where his gaze was focused. Elena gave him a subtle nod before walking out to the garden. She and Damon had the same dead serious expression on their faces. Before Havana made it to where he was, he hurriedly left the room obvious that he had something urgent to do. This further confirmed that a plan was in motion and Havana was determined to warn Klaus before he got hurt. She knew that somehow Mikael was involved in this and had a gut feeling that he was somehow on their side. She heard of the stories from Rebekah and Klaus respectively about Mikael's relentless quest to hunt and kill the Original siblings. It was his main purpose for the last thousand years. However, he had the most motivation to brutally put an end to Klaus whom he hated and abused throughout their human lives. Havana left in search of Klaus in a hurry.

Thankfully, although Tyler's house was huge, Havana successfully found Klaus in the first place she looked at which was the garden she saw her cousin go to only a couple moments ago. However, he was not with the other hybrids nor was he alone. He was talking to Elena who seemed very tense during their conversation. She tried to maintain a calm exposure yet the fear in her eyes gave her away. By the time their conversation was over and Elena had walked away, Havana finally made it by Klaus's side.

"There you are, little dove. How are you enjoying the funeral party so far?" Klaus said enthusiastically as if he had just not made death threats a couple of moments ago.

"You do know Elena and the rest of them are doing something fishy right?"

"I'm always ten steps ahead love which is why I just explained to your little cousin about the special company we have tonight if they do try to do something stupid." He referred to the dozens of hybrids guarding them from a distance.

Havana shook her head not knowing how she could keep up with the craziness that came with the rivalry between the people she loves. "I swear you all better not kill each other or I'll be the one chasing after all of you combined with a machete instead."  She moved forward only for Klaus to take her hand.

"Where are you going? You won't stay for a dance?"

"I'll be back. I promise. I just have to talk to Elena."

Klaus bent down and kissed her knuckles before letting go. Havana blushed yet continued moving away from her lover. It did not matter how long they were together, he always had that effect on her. Nevertheless, Havana focused on her cousin standing not too far from where she was.

"Hey, Elena!" Havana called out coming closer.

"Havana, hi! I missed you." Elena turned around and smiled almost too sweetly at her that it did not seem genuine.

Havana could not help but feel that something was off. It was unlike Elena to just brush things under the rug and act as if they had not gotten into a fight the last time they saw each other. She knew her cousin to be a confrontational person who would not let things slide without having an actual conversation about it first.

"Listen, about the last time we spoke..." Havana said slowly observing the way Elena reacted to her words. So far, Elena seemed to be going with whatever she was saying nodding her head eagerly at every word. A theory formulated at the top of Havana's head which she wanted to test out. "...I agree with what you said. This dress does not fit the vibe for tonight."

Elena continued nodding and added out loud fake laugh agreeing to her false statement. Havana's expression dropped into a frown realizing that her thoughts were right all along.

"Damn it, Katherine. What are you planning now?" She asked the vampire impersonating her cousin.

Katherine smirked not startled by the fact that Havana had just found her out, "What a surprise. You're not as stupid as everyone makes you out to be."

"Not as stupid as you practically begging for a death sentence from Klaus with whatever shenanigans you have in store for tonight. And what's up with you keeping on pretending to be Elena? It's kind of desperate if you ask me."

"You're the desperate one here. Look at you about to run off to tell your big bad boyfriend about me. Too bad he can't protect you now." Katherine bit back and grabbed her arm into a tight grip before zooming indoors into a secluded room.

"What the fuck!" Havana screamed as soon as Katherine let her go. It made her blood boil that Katherine could do that to her as if she was a rag doll that could be tossed and thrown at her beck and call. She gave into her anger and headbutted the Petrova doubleganger and punched the first body part that came to mind.

"You psycho! Did you just punch my boo-" Katherine yelled moving forward in a threating manner ready to kill the Sommers girl even if it meant running from Klaus for another four hundred years.

Havana quickly took off her earrings ready for a fight to happen. She did not care that she was a human facing off a vampire. It felt good hitting her. However, a barrier in the form of Damon Salvatore prevented the two from commencing.

"As much as I would like to see two girls dragging each other by the hair and hitting each other, I'd rather not today. You-" he pointed to Katherine "-if this plan works and Klaus won't be a threat to you anymore, you'll still have me to deal with next if you kill her. And you-" he pointed to Havana "-she'll snap your neck in an instant. You make the best drinks in town so stay alive for me will you."

"Thanks for reducing our friendship to you just using me for my skills behind the bar."

"It's a compliment. Take it."

Katherine who stood at the other end of the room rolled her eyes and stormed out not before saying, "Whatever. Lets just get this thing over with so that Klaus can die already."

"Really? You're gonna go so far as to killing him?" Havana scoffed folding her hands staring at her best friend for an explanation.

"It's either him or us, Havana. You know that."

"You don't all have to actually do something permanent and irreversible like killing!"

"Since when were you all sunshine and rainbows? Peace with Klaus is like Katherine becoming the next Mother Teresa or you never taking another sip of alcohol for the rest of your life. Its just not your natures."

"So what now? You're bringing in Mikael to kill Klaus?"

"That's the plan." Damon easily confessed heading towards the door.

Havana knew what he was doing and ran after him. However, he was already ahead of her and managed her to get out before slamming the door on her face. The moment she heard a click of a lock, she started banging on it yelling profanities at her best friend.

In the meantime, Klaus was indoors enjoying a game of beer pong no longer waiting for Havana who never came back after she left to go find Elena. He did not seem to worry much given that the two girls are practically sisters and were probably off reconnecting after days apart. He also had his army keeping an eye out for her and were also reported to inform him if anything were to happen. Unbeknownst to him, half of the hybrids in the house were already compelled by no other than Mikael.

In the middle of the game, Klaus saw Mindy approached him with a group of hyrbids ready to inform him of their latest updates.

"You have a visitor." She reported.

"Well, tell my visitor I'm on the brink of victory here." He motioned at the ping-pong ball which he picked from the red solo cup.

"He said his name is Mikael."

Klaus paused for a moment before the corners of his lips turned upwards revealing a sinister smirk. After a millennia of running from Mikael, Klaus was ready to face him and finally put an end in his story.

"Then I musn't keep him waiting." He left the ping pong table to follow Mindy who would lead him to Mikael. He had also instructed some hybrids to join the ones guarding Havana. It did not matter if his security had lessened in number. He believed that he can take on his step-father man to man. Plus, the least he needs right now was Mikael using her as leverage against him.

He made it to the front door where Mikael was stood at the opposite end outside of the house unable to enter the due to being uninvited. It had been centuries since the two last seen each other yet the hatred they harboured for each other only grewin time.

"Hello, Niklaus"

"Hello, Mikael. Why don't you come in? Or I forgot. You can't" Klaus taunted.

"Or why don't you come outside."

"Or I can just watch my hybrids tear you limb from limb."

As if on cue, they appeared in the front lawn looking like they were ready to attack. Mikael seem unfazed by this though and only grew entertained.

"The Big Bad Wolf. You still haven't changed at all because you hide behind your playthings like the coward you always were. Did you forget that they may be sired to you but they are still part vampire and can be compelled by me?" Mindy showed up standing beside Mikael fully compelled to do as he please.

Klaus started to feel his plan crumbling. He always boasted about being ten steps ahead in almost everything he does. He always had a contingency plan in store which is why no one was ever successful in taking him down. But tonight was different. His army had turned against him. Not only that but Mindy brought out Elena. It was a major blow to him as her blood is the only key ingredient he needs to make more hybrids. Killing her may mean that his lifelong mission might be over. Of course, he hadn't known that it was actually Katherine.

"Come face me Niklaus or she dies." Mikael threatened.

"I'm calling your bluff, father. Kill her."

"Come outside and face me, you little coward. And I won't have to."

"No please Klaus! He'll do it!" Katherine acted helpless and terrified.

"If you kill her, you lose your leverage. So go ahead old man. Kill her!" Klaus had no signs of bulging. He knew how this game was played.

Mikael laughed unbothered by Klaus's scream, "Your impulse Niklause is and wil forever be the one thing that will truly stop you from becoming great." In an instant, he brought out the dagger he hid and stabbed Katherine at the back killing her instantly. Or in this case, temporarily killing her.

Klaus let out a gasp feeling all his hopes and ambitions leave his body and get stabbed the blade Mikael was holding. All those centuries putting an end to his curse and finding ways to start army was now dust because of a single dagger. He yelled out at Mikael who threw the unmoving girl to the ground.

"It doesn't matter now. I don't need them. I just need to be rid of you." Klaus said shakily staring into Mikael's hateful eyes. The very eyes who wished nothing but pain at him since the moment he had his first breath.

"To what end Niklaus? So you can live forever with no one by your side? No body cares about you anymore, boy! Who else do you have other than those whose loyalty you've forced? No one! No one can ever love you."

"You are wrong!" Klaus yelled louder losing his temper.

He regretted it in an instant as he had just confirmed that there was leverage that could be used against him. However, the knowing look on Mikael's face told him that he already knew about this for a while now. The older man signalled to the other hybrids to bring out a squirming Havana. Klaus tried so hard to maintain a hardened expression yet the sight of his love beside someone as vengeful as Mikael made him go pale. He now had no idea what he was going to do next but he was sure as hell not going to let his father take her away from him forever.

"Oh right, you have this human. Havana's her name right? Such a pretty girl." Mikael took her from Mindy's grip. Havana was sure that her arm would end up with bruises by his deathgrip. "Don't tell me that you believe she actually cares about you? I know that she was just another plaything for you. A walking blood bag. She may be blinded by your false promises but this human could never love a monster like you."

"You're just jealous old man. You will never experience a love like ours. You're the real monster here and no will will ever love you." Havana spat at Mikael.

This outburst seemed to enrage Mikael as he pulled her hair back exposing her neck. He then lifted the blade ready to slice her throat. Klaus had one foot out of the door when Havana screamed for him to not come out but it was too late. Klaus was too distracted at the scene to notice Damon behind him and stabbing him on the stomach with a stake. Mikael roughly pushed Havana who fell harshly onto the ground.

"DAMON NO!" She screamed at her best friend who was ready to deliver her love to Mikael for him to finish off. Hot tears poured down from her eyes trying to crawl as fast as she can towards them even though she knew that it was a lost cause.

And then something unexpected happened. Stefan had come to the rescue by pinning Damon to the wall preventing him from delivering Klaus. It shocked everyone since everyone knew how much hate and resentment Stefan had for Klaus who compelled him to turn off his humanity. Klaus took this split second as an advantage to get back on his feet and stab Mikael with Damon's stake dipped in white oak ash. The two Originals fell to the grass with Klaus on top of his father making sure the wood went through him. Mikael started to scream as fire started erupting all throughout his body. Havana was able to get up from the floor and ran to Klaus's side hugging him while he tearfully watched his father burn to death. When it was all over, the two turned back facing the Salvatore brothers still in shock that Stefan decided to save Klaus. Though it was obvious that he did it for Klaus to owe him a debt, it was still appreciated.

"Thank you my friend. You are no longer to do as I say. You are free." Klaus uncompelled the youngest Salvatore fulfilling his debt.

The Original and his lover left for their home immediately after.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

Back in the Mikaelson household, Klaus and Havana were getting ready for bed after a tiring day of drama, shocking revelation, violence, and attempted deaths. Klaus had just changed into his night wear which just consisted of loose fitting pyjama bottoms. He stared blankly at the mirror while brushing his teeth still processing that he had just put his father to death. He was in no way bothered by that, but in spite of that, he was still adjusting to the newfound peace that came with Mikael gone from his life forever. He had tried calling Rebekah a couple times to tell her about the news but it kept going to voicemail instead. It was unlike of her to just ignore his calls unless she was angry about something. Nevertheless, Klaus decided to deal with it tomorrow. He had enough scared for the day.

Havana had just walked in the bathroom wearing the exact same pyjamas as he but with a matching button up as well. She gave him a comforting smile hugging him from the back as he continued brushing his teeth. When he was finished, he turned around so that they were hugging each other. However, he noticed Havanah flinch a little.

"What's wrong, little dove?"

"It's nothing. Just a little sore ever since I fell. But I'm fine though."

Klaus looked down to her stomach which was covered by her top then back at her, "May I?"

Havana hesitantly agreed even though she did not want him to worry any further. After her nod of approval, Klaus gently unbutton her top all the way until the start of her chest. It exposed dark bruises Mikael had inflicted on her when he roughly pushed her to the ground.

"I am really fine. I just bruise easily. That's all. There is no need to worry now." She tried to sooth him by holding his face with her hands and giving him a reassuring smile signaling that she was alright.

Klaus took a deep breath trying not to curse and nodded believing her. He brought out his wrist to cut and for her to drink out from so that she could be healed. But Havana stopped him by holding his hand and dropping it at his side.

"I can't keep on relying you to heal me. We both know that Mikael will not be the last person who would go after me just to get to you. If they ever do succeed in k-killing me, I'll come back as a vampire if I have your blood in my system."

"What's so wrong about that, my love? Don't you want to spend eternity together?" His eyes held sorrow staring at the promise ring on her neck afraid that she might give it back.

"No no no my darling. It's not like that." Havana quickly reassured him. "I have accepted that I need to turn into a vampire one day but not now. I guess I'm just not yet ready to give up on being human yet. And I don't want to be turned because someone killed me or something brutal like that. I'd want you to do it. For you to kiss me and feed me your blood before falling asleep in your arms with you brushing my hair and whispering sweet words into my ears...and then you would do what you have to do to finish turning me."

"That sounds like the perfect way to be turned." Klaus agreed. "And I promise that's how you'll turn. If not now or tomorrow then I will be patient enough to wait for that someday. But I also can't lose you. I just can't risk it. I don't know what I would do if I did."

It was Havana's turn to nod fully understanding Klaus's side. She also did not want to die and not ever come back just because some vengeful person.

"Then what do you suggest me do?" She asked Klaus who already had an idea in his mind.

"What if we continue with our plan. Our perfect intimate plan of turning you into a vampire one day. And hope that no one ruins it for us. But there needs to be a plan B." Klaus paused for a moment trying to come up with the best words to deliver the idea he was proposing "I want to feed you my blood everyday just in case the worst happens so that there is reassurance that we won't ever lose each other."

Havana was at a loss for words. She opened her mouth to speak before closing it still processing what he just said. Despite almost everyone she knew in this town to be a vampire, she did not mind being human. In fact, she loved being human. She was comfortable with it. She had no desire to be one now although she did agree to spend eternity with Klaus to which by extension means to be a vampire. She thought about it long and hard while Klaus patiently waited searching for any hint of an answer on her face and still holding her closer. After a moment, Havana exhaled having made up her mind.

"Deal"
