A Crossroads
It was many days together that Jan and Austin spent. It was no longer a relationship of predator and prey. It was perhaps even moving past mere infatuation - although, after his first glimpse of his captor's body from a more diminutive perspective, Austin would forever be entranced by her.
Each time Jan digested Austin, she would bring him back a different size - Sometimes, if she was wanting her belly filled, she would bring him back at his normal size. But more often than not, her human was never more than a foot tall.
Sometimes, a particularly brave (or foolish) creature of little size would scurry close, and Jan would snap it up, sending it straight into her stomach with little thought. Austin found these creatures loathsome, for Jan would not eat him if there was anything else in her stomach, and the appearance of one of these creatures meant anywhere between five minutes, and five hours, of being stuck on the cold outside, pressing his face against her belly, listening to her glorious stomach churn away the unfortunate critter.
--
Jan looked down at her stomach, which Austin, being about a foot tall, lay atop of. The remains of a Raticate sloshed within her belly, soon to be whisked away to make room for her beloved human. She blushed as she watched him, as she realised that this creature - this human that she bent to her will, and who not only accepted but, seemingly, enjoyed it - was the closest thing she had had to a friend. She gently patted his head, purring softly, and he smiled at her.
She opened her mouth, letting out a belch as the last of the Raticate melted away, and drained from her stomach.
"Your turn, Austin~"
Austin blushed, and scurried up her body, taking a moment to peer into her wide open maw, his eyes wide and eager. Jan enjoyed letting him decide when to go in, even going so far as to close her eyes, as she knew he would never choose for her not to eat him.
Because of this, she did not see who it was that swooped in and grabbed Austin right off of her chest...
But she certainly saw the tracks it left.
--
A robot sped through the forest, her tires slipping in the mud, arms flailing to keep her balance. She hadn't updated her code, including her ballast subroutines, since her second rebuild, which had been ages ago, and had made her into a lanky, four foot tall behemoth... at least, compared to what her original design had been. Therefore, she had to waste extra processing power keeping herself steady. It didn't help that she was worrying about the little human she had shoved into her main body cavity without thinking, just trying to save him from the animal that apparently meant to eat him, and now her, apparently, as it was hot on her heels.
She raced into her craft, the Nautilus, and pulled a few levers, locking the door behind her. She could hear the beast beating against the door outside.
"Nautilus online. Hello, J-"
"Emergency departure go!"
A loud hiss sounded, followed by deep whirring, as the Nautilus's engine came online, bypassing its safety routines. The craft lifted into the air, but remarkably, the pounding still came from the door. The robot took up the control column and shook it a few times, shaking the craft itself, which put an end to the pounding. Then they jetted off.
--
Austin kept himself folded up in the fetal position, inside a tiny box, with none of the pleasure of being in Jan's stomach. If he moved even a bit, he might just get ground up by the rotating column and gears he shared the space with.
Suddenly, the box opened up, and he felt a sort of claw grab him, albeit gently, by the waist, and pull him from his prison. He shielded his eyes from the sudden light, then found himself staring into the face of... a machine.
"Hello. My name is Jan Warner, Version 1.0.1, Mark 27."
