Chapter 1: Shipwrecked

Chapter 1: Shipwrecked

A/N: Hi! I hope you like my story! Sorry if I'm taking up your time to read... But, anyways, here's my story!

A girl watched through the leaves of a bush as a ship wandered to close to the gleaming stone pillars that they called the Claws Of Lupus. The ship tried to turn but that exposed it's side and the pillar splintered the hull to pieces. The front of the ship plunged forward, into the icy depths of the Pacific Ocean. The back crashed into the pillar once again and was ripped to smithereens. The splintered wood began to wash up onto the sandy shore along with the metal of machines.

The girl crept forward to examine the remains of the ship, her green eyes searching for anything of use. But sudden shouting made her gaze fly upwards, to the water. Men were trying to swim to shore but the sharks of the island were painting the water red with the blood of the sailors. They were shouting for the girl to help them, to save them. She stood up and walked to the edge of the water. The waves gently lapping at her bare feet.

She stared at them with an emotionless expression crossing her face. She waited until every last sailor disappeared under then she wadded deeper. Her torn skirt flowed around her like a flower that suddenly bloomed. The water soon grew to high to continue walking and, instead, dove under. The freezing water eating away at her body heat until she felt like an icicle. She continued venturing deeper, by now the sharks were already gone in search of more food elsewhere. The girl glanced around until her chest burned and her lungs convulsed, that's when she swam up to the surface to breathe. When she did, she found herself nearer to the pillars than what she originally thought.

She looked at the Claws Of Lupus with the awestruck expression of a little kid looking at their hero. The girl's eyes looked over the first stone pillar, then the next, which was covered in splintered shards of the ship, then the third. After she checked the fourth, her eyes met the fifth and final pillar. On this one she saw two shapes moving about, her curiosity grew to large to overcome and she began to make her way towards it.

As she drew closer, she was able to make out the shapes as a man and a woman. Both young, they looked to be in their late teenage years. The man dressed in a white, collared shirt and dark jeans, his hair was dyed a dark navy blue and his eyes were a darker blue colour, while the woman wore a black tanktop and miniskirt, her hair was platinum blond with blue highlights and her eyes were an aquatic shade of blue. The woman clutched a black, strapless purse to her breast as well. The girl reached the rocky shore that surrounded each pillar and ducked behind a large boulder to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"-Come on, Elliott, we should find some more survivors! Please, I don't want to be stuck on some damn island!" The woman was telling the man.

"There are no other survivors. I wish you'd accept the fact and help me fix up this dingy." He snapped, his voice seemed full of panic. "Please, Valerie?"

"But..." The woman trailed off when the girl behind the boulder shifted and made a piece of splintered wood crack under her weight. "Something's here!"

The man's gaze locked onto the boulder and he grabbed a cracked chunk of wood as a weapon. He cautiously made his way to the boulder and began walking around it. The girl who had hid glanced around frantically for a new hiding place but a "Ah-ha!" from the man told her that he had found her.

"What is it?" The woman called, shifting in her black sneakers. She gripped the purse so hard that her knuckles started to pale.

"A girl," the man called back and gently tugged her out of hiding so that the woman could see her.

"Oh my god! She's almost our age!" She gasped when her eyes landed on the beat up figure of the girl.

"What's your name?" The man asked politely as he retreated a few feet.

"Wray..." The girl told them cautiously, all of her senses alert and ready to pounce when danger showed it's hideous face.

"Wray? Hmm, well, I am Elliott." The man smiled although his eyes held a slight fear of Wray. Then he pointed at the woman, "And this is Valerie."

"Your ship hit the pillar," Wray stated emotionlessly, her green eyes staring off into some unknown universe.

"You saw that?" Valerie asked, an expression of shock crossing her delicate features.

"Can you swim?" Wray completely ignored the question and turned to the water.

"Of course we can," Elliott answered with a confused frown. His brows furrowed when he asked, "Why?"

"Follow me." Wray leapt into the cold ocean and began swimming toward the island.

"Wait! I can't swim!" Valerie cried out, salty tears forming in the corners of her eyes.

"You can't?" Elliott asked in surprise, he rubbed the back of his neck nervously. Then he turned to the water and shouted to Wray, "Valerie can't swim! Come back!"

Wray stopped and turned around, annoyance making it's presence known in her green eyes. "Then carry her! I don't have all day!"

Elliott was shocked by Wray's cold reply and found himself at a lost for words. He turned back to Valerie and sighed, can I carry her to shore? He questioned himself as he went to his friend. "I'll try to carry you across, hold tight."

Valerie nodded reluctantly and let him pick her up in his strong arms. Ahh, he's sooo dreamy... Ahh, she thought with a quick glance to his face, his navy blue hair swept onto his forehead and poked at his blue eyes. She held back a dreamy sigh and watched as he wadded into the water and started to try and swim to the island.

Wray waited until they were a few yards away from her before she, too, started for the island. Fear was starting to grip her skinny form. We should've been on the shore by now! The sharks may be back! Oh... Dreadful thoughts of what would happen to her when the sharks returned crossed her mind. Wray quickened her pace and, soon enough, her feet hit the sandy bottoms of the shallows. She hurried out of the water and looked back to, happily, find that Valerie and Elliott managed to get to the shallows as well.

Elliott set Valerie down in the waist high water and wadded to the sandy shore. He was panting badly and he looked pale, his lips were just turning blue and his arms were covered in goosebumps.

"Are you alright?" Valerie asked him in a very concerned voice, her blue eyes glazed in worry.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine." Elliott swatted her away and looked to Wray. "Where to now?"

"Follow me," Wray turned away and made her way to the thick tree line. She glanced over her shoulder once before continuing into the thick, overgrown, and vine-covered forest. The fallen leaves crunching pleasantly under her bare feet. Wray passed the huge, ancient trees of the island, monkies chattered above and birds fluttered around the lower branches. Squirrels and chipmunks made way for the three humans, chirping angrily at the passerbys. A fox stopped to stare and a raccoon cracked open a nut that he probably stole from a squirrel.

It's so peaceful here, this thought raced through both Elliott's and Valerie's minds as they tried to soak in everything. Elliott glanced at Wray, the poor girl wore a torn blue skirt and a tanish grey tanktop, it's straps were over three fingers wide. Her feet were bare, her short, brown hair swaying to the rythem of the forest. Her skin was quite pale for being out in the hot sun, and Wray had several scars and scabs on the surface of her skin.

Meanwhile Valerie was trying not to trip on the roots of the giant trees. How can they walk without getting their feet tangled?! She asked herself as she watched Elliott and Wray walk without any problems. Valerie sighed and kept walking, she passed a rosebush and a sudden hiss filled the air. She looked down in alarm to see the scaly head of a snake appear from the base of the bush. It headed for her foot, it's fangs showing and a yellowish green substance dripping from it's jaws. Valerie screamed and froze, clutching her purse as if it was the only thing in the world that could save her.

Suddenly a stick snapped down on the snake's head just when it was about to bite Valerie. She looked up to see Wray standing on the other end of the stick, dusting off her hands. Wray reached down and plucked the snake up by it's neck and released the stick. She held up her prize and looked it over before chucking the snake at a tree.

Valerie was speechless, Wray just saved my fucking life! I have to return the favor! She straightened and scurried after them, her skirt fluttering around her bare legs. "Thanks for saving me, Wray!"

"Just stay away from the bushes." Was all the island girl said as they continued in an unknown direction.

Valerie was, yet again, speechless. What's wrong with this chick?! She finally sighed and trekked in silence.

Wray stopped before a wall of shrubs, a smile played at her lips for the first time in months. She waited for the other two before shoving the shrubs aside so that they could see what laid beyond. Valerie gasped while Elliott looked in awe.

"Welcome to Moon Island!"
