Chapter 3

4 years later

The Jedi temple wasn't completely dark as the pair made their way down the hall. Light blue lights lined the sides of the floor, casting their hue upon the plain walls and creating strange shadows. Nothing stirred as the older one came to a stop and hacked easily into the room their target was locked in. The door slid shut silently behind them as they found the object that had been in their employer's interest.

"This is too easy." The younger one stated; her voice distorted by the helmet she wore. "Shouldn't there be some sort of security? Look at all of this stuff!"

"Keep your voice down or there will be trouble." Her mentor's voice scolded as he continued forward to retrieve the object. "The difficulty doesn't matter as long as we get the money."

"I know... but something doesn't feel right about this..." She looked around; this room only had a single light in the center that glowed a dull sickly green. "I have a bad feeling about this..."

"If that Jedi cared about this he would have set security up."

"But they have the Force." She responded to her mentor, wondering if he knew about it considering he had told her stories of meeting Jedi before.

"That is nothing Zheth, now get your blaster out and keep an eye on the door while I scan for any hidden traps." His instruction was meant as dismissal and an end to questioning.

Zheth nodded quietly before taking out her blaster and taking a position to the right of the door, her hand on the trigger and ready to aim and fire at a second's notice. She didn't turn her head as a slight humming sound came from behind her, it was only the scanner after all, though by the sounds of something being tinkered with a moment later she could guess her mentor was taking care of a security device that hadn't been easily noticed. She wasn't sure what their employer, who they had never actually met, wanted with some data information from the Old Republic era but with a shrug she realized it didn't really matter. All that actually matter was getting out alive and collecting their bounty and obviously her mentor was keen on getting back at this Jedi master who ran this training facility, though he wouldn't tell her why.

A sound from outside the door made her freeze and she jumped out with her blaster as the door open before firing at their attacker, a young padawan no older than herself, and watched as the young boy fell unmoving to the floor with blaster holes marring his chest. Her mentor was at her side in an instant, dragging her outside and towards their ship. That was when a green glow appeared followed by a figure in a dark cloak, his metal hand gleaming in the glow of the lightsaber. Zheth started running faster before being swept off her feet by an invisible force, which her mentor wasn't any luckier to avoid as he crashed to the ground before getting back up again.

"Get to the ship now!" He snapped to her, pushing her ahead of him as she got back up as well.

The sound of his blaster firing and being deflected made her turn around to watch the fight before seeing on of the deflected blasts spark in the shadows against a control panel... after that the flames spread all too quickly. Zheth backed away, hearing cries of alarm from other padawans as the sound and smoke woke them up. She shook in fear as a pale boy paused to stare at her through the smoke, he was younger than her but his eyes held something fierce in the nearly black gaze, and then he was gone... following the others to the nearest exit. She would have followed them if it meant getting out but the flames were spreading and that path was quickly blocked, Zheth turned to try to back track... perhaps she'd made a wrong turn?

"Boba Fett?" She shouted her mentor's name into the thick smoke, coughing as it went into her lungs and blurred her vision.

"Zheth!" His voice answered from a few halls back and she ran towards it, jumping over and ducking under falling debris.

Their eyes locked under their helmets and she slid across the floor slightly as she turned down the hall, catching up to him. She didn't stop to think about where that Jedi had run off to; hopefully Boba had killed him. Zheth gave a yelp and jerked to a stop right before a chunk of the ceiling crashed down in front of her and cut off her path to Boba who had turned around at the sound.

"Stay there, I can fly over and get you." Her mentor spoke as calmly as he could.

Zheth backed further away from the fire in fear but watched as he landed and grabbed her securely before flying back over the hungry fire. They started running again and she was certain they would get out until that Jedi appeared again. The smoke was too thick in this small area for her to see Boba turn down another hallway and she changed her own direction in the direct opposite of the one he'd taken, just wanting to escape from the Jedi before he could use his powers. Creaking above her gave her a warning a second too late before another chunk of roof came off, which she tried to block with the armor on her arms. The heat was burning through though and she gave a cry of pain before backing away and falling to her knees as the smoke too its toll.

"Boba?" She coughed weakly.

His shouts came from behind her but were gone as more rubble fell, he was probably crushed under it... she wasn't going to be much better off. Zheth groaned and forced herself to her feet; she couldn't die here! Boba Fett wouldn't stand for it if he were still alive! She had to complete the mission and take the half of information he had to their employer to get at least part of the bounty! With a shudder of pain, Zheth stared at the consuming flames and took out a detonator, planting it on the wall and backing away, before letting it blow up, which only aided in feeding the flames, and slowly worked on making a new path out of the temple.
