Chapter 1- Procul
~Carnire~ Year: 1372~ (Procul Universe) Age: 12
"Have you... ever wondered what is out there?" A young boy asked, his soft yet curious voice interrupting the comfortable silence that was surrounding him. Laying next to him was a girl as young as him. Both children had been friends ever since they could remember.
The girl nodded, her eyes remaining locked on the sight in front of her eyes. The sun had long set down and the sky was now filled with a mixture of small twinkling lights, a shooting star passing by every now and then.
The eyes of both were twinkling in amazement, it was definitely a beautiful sight. It seemed as though a painter decided to have fun with his canvas, spraying the night sky with billions of stars here and there, finishing his last touches with a pair of moons to add an extra effect. Indeed Earth in that universe had two moons. Unbeknownst to the habitants that roamed that planet everyday, they were blind to the knowledge of the exostence of multiple universes.
Except for that young girl. She had knowledge of things that hadn't and wouldn't be discovered yet. She could perfectly understand how everything worked and the logic behind it.
She was unique.
"Some philosophers say that if you leave Earth, you will see other planets, including the sun orbiting around Earth." The boy explained with a hint of astonishment. The girl slightly shook her head, more to herself than to the boy. Wrong. She immediately thought in her mind. She found odd how people still believed in the Geocentric theory. The sun was obviously the center of the solar system, the Earth was the one orbiting around the sun, together with the rest of the planets. But she never told anyone what the truth was. The first and last time she had done it, her parents believed her mad, almost sending her to an asylum for believing such things.
But she only knew the truth! She knew it was true what she thought. She didn't know shy but she strangely knew what it really was.
But again, no one believed her. Not the slightest.
She let out an exasperated sigh, her toes curling up in frustration as she tried not to let out an angry scream. She wouldn't want to embarrass herself in front of his ONLY friend. That would be sad.
She slowly sat up, letting her dark brown hair flow behind her with the wind, closing her eyes for a moment as she glanced at the young boy. "Mark, mom told me you were welcome to come for lunch today, that is if your parents let you of course." She spoke in a calm voice, smiling genuinely at Mark who only nodded enthusiastically, standing up with a start.
"Sounds good to me! What are we having for lunch?" He asked, watching as the slightly shorter girl stood besides him, admiring the scenery in front of her.
"I suppose tea and biscuits for now, you know how my mom is a fanatic of those baked goods." The girl said, followed by a small giggle as she picked up her sandals and started making her way back to her small house on the outskirts of their home village.
Mark followed behind her, his shoes causing a soft thud against the green grass that covered land as far as you could see. "You are oddly quiet Gracia, is everything alright?" Mark asked worriedly, watching as she made her way down the high hill they were just on.
Her best friend was right, she was oddly quiet. In fact, she wasn't feeling at all good, a constant sick feeling sometimes making appearance at the bottom of her stomach, her head feeling as heavy as a ton of bricks. She swayed unsteadily, stopping for a moment as she tried to process even her thoughts.
Mark had stopped besides her, now definiteky sure that Gracia was not okay. She covered her eyes to shield herself from a sudden white and bright light hitting against her eyeballs. She stumbled forwards, starting to fall only to be caught by Mark, both young children falling to their knees.
Gracia's world spun, only able to pick up the screams of help from Mark as her eyes drooped, immediately falling into a state of unconsciousness.
"Gracia!"

A knock on the door woke up Gracia from her peaceful sleep. She groaned slightly as she turned away from the door, covering her head with the pillow in hopes that it would stop soon. The knocking only got louder, and Gracia knew in that instant they would not give up until someone answered.
She kicked off her warm covers, standing up with difficulty as she stomped to the door, not bothering to fix her appearance which wasn't that great to receive guests. She unlocked the door and opened it, the familiar creak it made resonating across her small hut as usual.
She looked up from the doorknob, smiling when he saw who it was.
Mark.
"Gracia! Ready for training today?" Mark asked a bit too loudly, making Gracia hiss slightly from the intensity. She nodded, turning around and fixing her hair in front of her small mirror, tying it up in a ponytail as she excused herself for a moment to change into a more appropriate outfit for training.
Once she was ready, she ran out of her room, bag on hand as she locked her door, both making their way to their favorite place to train. The location was in between two connected mountains, a strange formation in between both that was similar to a platform, useful for activities such as training. Or so they thought it was useful for that. The route up there was steep and rough, but once you get to the top, it is like a hidden paradise.
Both arrived in some minutes, having raced to the top as they always did. The winner would get to strike first at the moment of sparring. Mark halted to a stop, smiling in victory as he set his things down, glancing at Gracia who seemed a bit disappointed she had lost once again. Mark smiled genuinely as he set a hand on her shoulder. "Wow! You almost won! I think you are running faster everyday" He spoke honestly, trying to cheer her up which worked by how she smiled, playfully punching slightly his shoulder in response.
"Oh come one Mark, we both know that I won't ever win against your fast running." She answered, setting her bag down as she stretched, doing several exercises to warm up for the hard training of that day.
Mark rolled his eyes playfully, doing the same as Gracia as he readied himself, going to stand in front of her as a sign that he was ready. Soon, she joined him, setting her hands on her hips as she fanned herself from the strong rays of the sun. The day surely was going to be hot.
"I won't go easy on you from now on" Mark warned. Gracia smiled as she took a steo forward. "Finally, I was tired from getting to win every time from you going easy on me for being a girl." She replied nonchalantly, making Mark raise an eyebrow. "Bring it on sweetheart."
Gracia stared at him for a moment before she smirked, launging forward, her hand in a fist as she tried to hit Mark on the jaw. He dodged easily, catching her arm with his and twisting it, pulling her to the floor with a loud thud. She seemed unfazed by this as she took the chance to kick her leg in, causing him to fall with a louder thud.
Both took a moment to stand up, regaining their breaths for a minute. "Nice move, I bet you planned to do this for a long time ago." Mark spoke up with a smirk, launging forward this time.
"Nuh huh, I just thought this now" Dodge, punch, kick.
"Stop pretending Gracia, are you at least a bit intimidated by me?" Dodge, punch, kick.
Gracia was about to retort with a comeback, being stopped immediately as she lost her balance, stumbling back for a moment, trying to get to stand up firmly. The ground shook below them, Mark looking around them and back at his best friend with a panicked look.
"Mark! What is- Ahh!" The increasing intensity of the ground shaking had pushed Gracia to the edge of the platform, Mark moving fast as he caught her hand in his before she could fall off, her figure handing from the platform.
Gracia's heart thumped quickly in fear as she held onto Mark for dear life, the ground's movements never ceasing.
Before they could react, Gracia's hand slipped away from Mark's, her eyes widening as she started falling at a rapid rate. Mark watched in horror, his eyes fixed on the hand that used to hold her as he hit the platform with his fist in anger and sorrow.
He covered his face with his hands, shaking his head as he tried to convince himself that just didn't happen.
A tap on his shoulder startled him, making him look up, his mouth dropping in shock as he saw Gracia wriggling on the air, her hands and legs moving left to right. "Gracia? Gracia?! You are floating!" Mark exclaimed in surprised, staring at Gracia with an unknown emotion.
"No kidding!" She said sarcastically as she tried to float towards the platform. "Don't just stay there looking at me like an idiot! Help me!" She replied angrily.
Aaaaand that was the first chapter. I know it may be confusing but it will make more sense later. Tell me your opinions! I would love to hear what you think about it.
Until next chapter!
