"I'm going to say this quick, kid." Jimin's fingers curled around the handle of the younger male's knife, his gloved hand grasping the other's bare one. "I don't have time for you, or whatever's going on in your brain right now that's making you think that you're intimidating. The minute I feel that blade even prick at my skin, I will not hesitate to pull this trigger."
The younger's eyes widened, gulping as he became even more aware of the gun that was pressed against his forehead. The metal was extremely cold, not letting him forget that it was there. "Didn't anyone ever tell you not to bring a knife to a gun fight?" Jimin mumbled, voice soft as he tapped his fingers along the handle of the younger's blade. "And you've seen my face too... What a shame, I can't have anyone seeing me at a time like this. If you snitched, I might just lead a trail back to a bunch of other unsolved things."
"You won't actually kill me." The brunette sounded all too confident, albeit the waver in his voice. "You'll be locked up longer for murder than for theft."
"'Locked up'." Jimin laughed, looking up into the other's eyes. "You say that like you're confident I'm going to get caught." He blew a few strands of hair out of his eyes. "I've been at this for longer than you're even aware of. I'm practically an expert at covering up my tracks." He paused. "What's your name?"
The younger male took a deep breath, heart beating erratically as he looked Jimin in the eyes.
"My name is Jungkook." He answered. "Jeon Jungkook."
"Jeon Jungkook." Jimin repeated, testing the way the name felt on his tongue. "Nice to meet you, I'm Jimin." His words were contradictory to the situation, making Jimin chuckle softly after he spoke. "How old are you?"
Jungkook was trying his hardest to answer confidently, although it was hard to when he had the barrel of a gun pressed to his head.
"I'm seventeen. Eighteen in a month." He finally sighed, Jimin's eyebrows shooting upwards in surprise.
"Seventeen?" He asked, the younger humming in response. "What's a baby like you doing taking on a big boy job like this?" Jimin laughed, Jungkook scowling in response. "What could you even want to rob a bank for at this age? Isn't mom still giving you lunch money?"
Jungkook's expression darkened.
"Mom's not around." He answered, Jimin raising an eyebrow at the response.
"I'm sure there's a sob story behind those words." Jimin replied, not giving Jungkook time to speak after him. "But I am not in the mood to hear it." His mouth morphed into a smirk that sent a shiver down Jungkook's spine. "So give me five good reasons why I shouldn't shoot you in the next ten seconds."
Jungkook's eyes widened, panic truly setting in then as he stared death in the face. "Tick tock." Jimin prompted, tightening his grip on the gun.
"I'm still young." Jungkook stuttered out. "I've still got a whole life ahead of me; you wouldn't steal that from me would you?"
"Ah the guilt trip." The older chuckled, pressing his finger teasingly lightly against the trigger of the gun. "Oldest trick in the book Jungkook, give me something new."
A bead of sweat rolled down the side of Jungkook's face.
"I'm..." He paused. "You said it best, I shouldn't've been even trying to take on a job like this. I.. I'm an amateur. If you let me off the hook now, you'll never see me again." He took a deep breath. "If you do, you can shoot me dead on the spot and I won't put up a fight."
Jimin merely rolled his eyes at the younger's words, pushing down just a tad bit more on the trigger and watching as the younger's eyes flickered nervously up to his hand.
"Heard that one before too." He sighed. "Two seconds Jungkook." He warned, the younger closing his eyes and attempting not to let his eyes water.
"I'll... I'll help you!" He exclaimed, Jimin raising an eyebrow and loosening his grip on the gun.
"You'll what?" He asked, looking at Jungkook incredulously as the boy opened his eyes.
"If you don't kill me... I'll help you. I may be an amateur but I've done my research." His voice quavered. "If you ever get close to being caught, you can use me as a scape goat."
Jimin frowned, eyes scanning all across the younger's face. His light brown hair was tousled, most likely from the tackle beforehand. His face looked so youthful; full rosy cheeks, plump lips with a small metal hoop pierced through the bottom one. His eyes were wide and doe like, showcasing every single variation of fear that could be imagined. Jimin released his grip on the handle of Jungkook's blade, although keeping his left hand gripped tightly around his gun.
He brought his right hand up, thumb swiping across the younger male's bottom lip. Jungkook's breath hitched as Jimin's finger unintentionally snagged on his lip ring, and the older raised an eyebrow once more.
"What makes you think that I even want you?" He laughed, dragging his thumb down Jungkook's chin before going to grab onto the handle of the younger's blade once more.
It was then that he noticed that Jungkook had lowered his arm, completely and utterly putting his guard down. He had even closed his eyes once more, bottom lip quivering as he took in a shaky breath.
"If you don't want me at all, then I have no other reasons as to why you shouldn't kill me." The sound of the blade hitting the floor pierced through Jimin's ears as Jungkook dropped the knife, a lone tear escaping from beneath his closed eyelids. "I give up, in all honestly I knew I wouldn't get far with this."
It was silent for a moment after that, Jimin frowning as he watched the younger's bottom lip shake, Jungkook just trying to come to terms with the fact that his life was about to end before he even reached his adult years.
"The cameras." Jimin finally mumbled, lowering his gun and slipping it back into the holster that was secured around his thigh.
"What?" Jungkook stuttered out, not wiping away his tears as he was still paralyzed by fear.
"The security cameras." The older elaborated. "We're out of their view right now, but this is the only blind spot in the entire building." He paused, looking Jungkook in the eye. "If you can find a way to disable them without being seen, I might just take you up on your offer."
"I... Alright." Jungkook nodded vigorously. "That's what I'm good at." He paused. "But why don't you just shoot the lenses? You do have a gun, after all."
"External damage to any form of security equipment will set off an alarm." Jimin returned, leaning against the wall and cracking his knuckles. "That's usually the way I do it when I'm alone because I'm quick enough to get the job done before the police get here, but with a few extra hands I could have a lot more time."
"Alright." Jungkook nodded, bending down and picking up his knife. He slid the blade into a holster that had been rigged onto his belt before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a pair of gloves. He breathed out a sigh, still stunned that he was alive and breathing right then. "I took a glimpse at the models at while I was sneaking in, it should take me about ten minutes tops."
Jimin merely hummed, face not changing from the cold, bored expression that he wore so well.
"Jungkook." He spoke, the younger looking up from where he was adjusting his gloves.
"Yes?" The younger returned, shivering under Jimin's gaze.
"If you fuck this up, you'll be dead before you even knew I took my gun out." His words showed no emotions, making Jungkook gulp, and the younger boy nodded before he turned on his heel and rounded the corner as quickly as he could. Jimin sighed as soon as Jungkook was out of sight, shaking his head and closing his eyes. "What am I doing? Why couldn't you just shoot him?"
The minutes dragged on, bringing new waves of silence as Jimin's eyes grew more accustomed to the dark than they were before.
His ears were tuned to the tiniest of noises, fingers tapping along the handle of his gun as he finally listened to the sound of footsteps jogging in his direction.
"Jimin, all of the cameras in the building are disabled, and I also stole the recorded tapes from earlier just in case they caught anything." Jungkook finally came into view, reaching into his jacket and pulling a disc out of the inside pocket. "We were never here."
Jimin couldn't help but crack a small smile, pushing himself off of the wall and walking past Jungkook.
"Not bad, kid." He returned, motioning for Jungkook to follow him. "There's no security guards as far as I've checked, but never let your guard down. If you get caught it's not my problem, but if they can trace you back to me that's where we're going to have issues." He paused, eyes narrowing on the locked door that glinted in the moonlight that filtered through the window. "Now come on."
Jungkook raised an eyebrow and followed suit, the keypad on the door coming into view. He watched as Jimin reached into his back pocket and pulled out his phone, opening up a zoomed in video of somebody typing in the code. Jimin studied it for a few moments before repeating the code on the keypad in front of him.
A small beep a recognition signalled that they had access. A smile stretched across Jimin's face as he finally pushed the door open.
"Here's where it gets good."
