(Y/N) never rode a carriage before when she was still alive in her previous world, but now that she's riding one, she feels a bit underwhelmed.
Sure, if you look at it from the outside, it looks fancy and it looks cool to be riding one but the lack of speed it has when the horses are running made (Y/N) somewhat disappointed.
Then again, she wasn't in any life-threatening danger right now to be urging the driver to go faster, but if she was using her trusty bike to go to the palace, she would've been there 5 minutes earlier.
Still thinking about what she could do inside the palace once she meets the princes that lead her to her doom, (Y/N) nervously played with her puffy and glittering navy blue dress. A light blue ribbon was wrapped around her waist and held securely behind her back. She wanted to look as boring and as normal as possible to not gain the attention of the six boys by wearing one of the plain dresses in her wardrobe, but her maids and her parents said otherwise.
"Being underdressed as a noble when you're meeting the princes is not proper", they said. Sighing, she glanced outside the window of her carriage and watched as people from the city are busy walking around. Most of these people walking around are commoners, and it made (Y/N) smile when she saw one signifier that she was also like that when she was still alive in her old world.
She's not used to being dressed by three other maids when her own mother urges her to finish dressing up when she's about to be late for school. Everytime she feels like she's not doing anything, she almost predicted her mother to come bursting inside the room with a broom and telling her to get off of her phone and help with house chores.
Needless to say, (Y/N) felt a bit restless when she wasn't doing anything that related to cleaning in one day. Maybe it's because she's only been a noble for one day that she hasn't gotten used to maids and servants doing everything for her, but she still felt like she could've done something to help.
Sighing again, she continued to look out her window as the carriage was carrying her over to the heart of the city, the royal palace of Ingrasia.
"Lady (Y/N), are you alright?" The maid who accompanied her asked. "You've been sighing a lot since we left the manor."
"Ah, I'm fine." said (Y/N) with a small smile as she turned to look at her. "In any case, it seems to be very hot outside, isn't it?" She looked outside the window once again then turned her gaze upwards to the sky where the sun shone brightly.
"Yes, it is. Perfect day to go to the palace." The maid responded with a nod. She looked outside the window as well, eyeing the people selling certain items on the side of the road.
Silence eventually settled in between the two of them that (Y/N) immediately felt awkward. It's not like she's obligated to keep talking to her maid, but it just felt better when she had someone to talk to and to distract her away from the idea that she's meeting six princes soon.
While (Y/N) was trying to think of a possible topic, the sound of a stomach grumbling caused her to turn her head around and look at her maid with a surprised look. The brown haired maid blushed in shame and lowered her head down to avoid the gaze of the lady she's serving.
"Um... are you hungry?" (Y/N) asked her. The maid shook her head in denial but her body said otherwise as another sound of grumbling caught (Y/N)'s ears. Lips thinning, the young Ardania leaned forward and opened her lips.
"Please stop the carriage!" She called out to the driver, who heard her call and slowed the carriage to a stop. The maid, who looked at her with a surprised look, watched as (Y/N) skipped out of her carriage seat.
"I shall get us something to eat from one of those stalls. I believe mother gave me some spare money to use for this brief trip." She told the maid before stepping out of the carriage and into the bright sun. The brown haired woman inside the carriage stared at the young girl before snapping out of her daze and following after her as well.
"Lady (Y/N), please wait...!" She said and practically ran after her through the crowd. She can't just leave her alone in a place like this - what if she gets kidnapped, especially with how she looks?
Thankfully, she found (Y/N) handing over some money to a street vendor who seemed to be selling pastries and delicious-looking bread. Bowing and thanking the vendor, much to their surprise, (Y/N) caught the maid's eyes and skipped happily towards her.
"Here," said (Y/N) as she handed her over three muffins, all stuffed inside a bag. "You're hungry, aren't you?"
The maid stared at the extended hand that held the muffins and felt her own stomach urging her to just take it already. Gulping, she let her shaky hands take the bag of muffins and bowing down at (Y/N).
"Thank you, Lady (Y/N)." The brown haired maid thanked the young girl, who only smiled at her before walking back to the familiar carriage.
Instead of walking directly inside though, (Y/N) walked over towards the front of the carriage where the driver sat. The middle aged man caught sight of the young Ardania and immediately wondered if he'd done something wrong this time. She always liked to scream at any minor inconveniences after all.
"Please accept this." said (Y/N) as she also handed the driver the second bag of muffins. "I'm sure you must be hungry as well." Taken back by her sudden act of kindness, he almost thought that the muffins were poisoned or something until he saw the maid clutching the same bag of muffins in her bag, nodding at him to take it.
Clearing his throat, the driver appreciatively took the bag from (Y/N)'s small hands. "Thank you, my lady." He thanked, earning a nod from the young girl.
When (Y/N) and the maid were now inside of the carriage and continuing their way up towards the palace, they ate the muffins that (Y/N) bought silently.
Well, at least the maid was eating them silently.
"This is delicious! I don't always eat baked goods but they're so unbelievably good!" happily exclaimed the young girl through her full mouth. The maid blinked at her lady's odd behaviour and how she was eating her food, but said nothing as she ate her food silently.
She didn't know why (Y/N) was suddenly acting like this since yesterday. It's way too odd and suspicious. Then again, she does feel like she could get used to this as she preferred this (Y/N) over the old bratty one.
She even bought her food when she knew she was hungry. That was certainly something that (Y/N) Ardania would do, but there she was, currently stuffing her mouth with the muffins she bought just moments ago.
Smiling a little, the maid retrieved a small handkerchief from her pockets and leaned closer towards the young girl. "Lady (Y/N), you're a very messy eater." She said while wiping her mouth, removing any crumbs from the muffins she ate.
As she leaned away, (Y/N) licked her lips for any lingering taste of the baked good around her mouth before grinning at her. "Thank you... um..." Her face fell when she realized that she doesn't know her own personal maid's name.
"My name is Lily, my lady." The maid responded, causing (Y/N) to grin back once more and thank her for cleaning her up. As they were slowly getting closer to the entrance of the palace, the two stared outside the window in amazement of how large it actually looks up close.
"So cool..." (Y/N) breathed out. As the carriage stopped on the gate by the guards for a brief moment before they were given permission to continue, they were immediately greeted by the large, beautiful front garden of the castle.
At the very center of the garden was the largest water fountain (Y/N) has ever seen in her entire life. 'Who the fuck spends that much money on a water fountain that's as big as my room in my previous life?' She thought to herself until she realized she was talking about a royal family.
Of course they'd be rich enough to buy something like a gigantic water fountain for their garden.
The carriage slowed to a stop once more. "We have arrived, Lady (Y/N)." The driver called out. (Y/N) silently gulped and almost felt her heart bouncing out of her chest when she thought about how nerve-wracking it is to meet the princes.
She was very much aware of how handsome they were, but she was also aware that they'd be the ones who can bring her her doom if she's not careful enough.
Taking a deep breath to calm herself, (Y/N) put a determined face and stepped out of the carriage as the driver opened it for her, bowing respectfully at the young girl, with Lily following shortly behind her.
Straightening her dress, the young girl watched the large fancy front doors of the palace and felt her heart beating nervously once more. At the foot of the steps near the front door, three butlers walked closer towards (Y/N) and bowed down as well.
"Welcome to the Ingrasia palace, Miss (Y/N) Ardania. Thank you for coming upon the wishes of King Ferdinand." The man in the middle, who seemed to be the head butler, said in a stern voice. (Y/N) had a feeling that he's been saying the same line to different people who came here earlier than them that he's starting to get tired of it.
Nonetheless, (Y/N) bowed down as well, along with Lily and her driver.
"The pleasure's all mine." She said, and watched as the head butler eyed the butler to his right, who seemed to got the message just from his looks alone and took a step towards (Y/N).
"Please follow me to the main hall where the king shall announce and summon for his sons." Said the butler with a small bow.
"Thank you." (Y/N) briefly bowed down to the butler and followed him towards the palace. Lily was asked to wait in a different room and the driver was asked to wait along in the space where carriages from different noble families were parked.
Each step (Y/N) took on the flight of stairs that lead to the large front door of the palace, the heavier the feeling in her chest became. She can't tell if it's because of how overwhelmed she was of the palace's size or if she was nervous about meeting one of the people that could certainly spell her doom.
(Y/N) tried to keep a straight face, but seemed to have failed when she heard herself made a small squeaking sound when she heard the rumbling of the door, indicating that it was opened. "Please come this way." The butler said and beckoned for her inside.
The young girl hesitated. She didn't really want to take a step inside, but was obligated to when she saw that the butler seemed to be walking far away now, not even realizing that she wasn't even following him. Taking another deep breath, she hurried inside the palace until she was close enough behind the butler.
Her eyes couldn't seem to focus on one place as her head turned around to every corner of the palace. Everything from the front hall alone was more than enough to buy her entire house where she and her family lived when she was in her previous life.
Everything was clean - if you looked close enough to every furniture, it'd probably be spotless. Each decorations and large framed pictures around the stainless walls seemed to have been polished to perfection.
She blinked around in amazement and turned her head upwards, seeing the distant floors that had balconies on them and the large chandelier that hung menacingly at the very center of the ceiling.
At one of the balconies, (Y/N) saw a certain black haired young boy with bright magenta-colored eyes staring right back at her with a calculative look. Knowing who it was, she lifted her hand and waved it at him.
The boy, who didn't expect the gesture, hesitantly lifted his hand up and waved back slowly at the young boy before dashing out of sight. (Y/N) didn't mind however, she knew that that certain brother was very shy.
Following the butler to another room, she was greeted with another large room the size of her previous school's gymnasium. Except it wasn't covered with filth-encrusted bleachers, or the collapsing wooden stage that every student made fun of since they have the money to make new buildings but don't have money to fix a new stage.
In the room, everything looked like it was covered in gold, which was an exaggeration in (Y/N)'s part but to anyone who has never been inside a palace before could be forgiven to think of such things.
The room itself had cream-colored walls with three large wall windows on each side that looked very clean and polished on each side of the glass. On each walls, curtains that are tied into an upside-arch hung neatly. Circular tables that are covered with clean white sheets were around the room. (Y/N) counted and it looked like there were twelve.
Each tables were empty except for a single decorative lantern in the center of each tables which had small candles inside of them lit up. (Y/N) assumed that these candles were scented since she could smell the strong scent of strawberry lingering around her nose.
On the room, multiple children who were female nobles chattered mindlessly. They either had fans covering their mouth or they had their hands on their mouth as they laughed. (Y/N) didn't expect a lot of people in the palace, but she thought that it was better considering that there's more chances of the princes not choosing her.
Not that she'll be chosen in the first place anyway. At least that's what she thinks.
On the side of the room, a long table full of sweets, pastries, and different types of bread one could think of are lined up neatly around the table. She felt her stomach rumble again and her eyes kept staring at the line of food on the table. 'I wonder what those taste like...' she wondered longingly.
"Well then, I shall leave you here along with the other nobles, Miss (Y/N)." The butler turned around and smiled at the young girl, who snapped out of her daze and immediately turned to face the butler. "Should there be any problems or anything you'd like to know, please wait for me until I come back and I shall assist you right away."
"Yes, thank you very much, sir." (Y/N) bowed down at the butler, who returned the gesture and left the room. As (Y/N) was left alone on the room by herself with no one to talk to, she immediately zoomed over towards the snack bar.
Her eyes sparkled at the amount of food she hasn't been able to eat in her previous life. Feeling her mouth watering as she imagined the taste of the baked goods inside her mouth, she reached her hand towards a cupcake and happily began eating.
None of the other nobles really noticed (Y/N) or even bothered to talk to her, which was good for the young Ardania's part. She didn't really want to get any attention, she just wanted to get it over with and get home and live a peaceful life until she's sixteen.
Suddenly, after a few minutes of eating the snacks that no one is bothering to eat on the table, overlayed squeals from the other female nobles reached (Y/N)'s ears and she turned around curiously with a few crumbs around her mouth.
"Hm?" She hummed while munching on some cookies, then she felt something inside her throat clog up when the crowd took a few steps aside to reveal what has gotten the girls so riled up.
At the very center of the crowd stood Henry Ingrasia, the first born prince of the kingdom and is the next in line for the throne. He was beaming up at the girls flirtatiously and batting his long eyelashes at the girls who were unfortunate enough to meet his charming green eyes.
'H-Henry is here!' thought (Y/N) as she choked on her cookie and violently coughed while reaching out to the far end of the table to get a glass of water. 'I didn't expect him to be here at all! What the hell!'
Henry pushed some of his pink hair out of his face, smirking down at the girls who were staring up at him lovingly and in admiration. "What beautiful faces... It seems like god has blessed my day after all." He said then approached a lovestruck female noble, brushing some of her hair out of her eyes. "To be able to meet such a wonderful and beautiful maiden as you, my day couldn't get any better."
The female noble stammered and furiously blushed while trying to step away from Henry out of embarrassment as another set of squeals rose around the room. However, as soon as those words left Henry's mouth, (Y/N) almost spat the water out of her mouth as she tried to contain her laughter.
Silently wheezing, (Y/N) slowly placed the glass of water on the table. 'What- What the fuck was that-' She let a small wheeze escape her mouth but immediately held herself together. 'I know he says the same thing to the main character when they first met but hearing it personally is so fucking funny, holy shit!'
Fortunately, Henry paid no attention to the girl in the snacks table and kept flirting with a bunch of girls that were flocking over to him like pigeons. "Ladies, ladies." He took a step back and tried to avoid all of the questions the girls tried to ask him. "I shouldn't be here but I couldn't help myself - I've been seeing every single one of your beautiful faces passing through the halls of the palace and I told myself that I must come to see you all personally, even if my father told me not to."
(Y/N)'s cheeks puffed up like a squirrel and she clenched her eyes shut as she tried to contain her laughter once more. Something about hearing Henry say cheesy lines like that as a 13 year old boy made her want to laugh so hard.
"Hey, baby girl. Why don't you give me your address so I may visit you sometime?"
And that was the last straw.
Upon hearing the line 'baby girl', (Y/N)'s puffed cheek deflated and made a sound that was like she was blowing a raspberry through her mouth and wheezed loudly from the snack bar, enough for everyone to look around and turn to see who laughed at Henry's words.
The pink haired boy, who didn't expect anyone to laugh at what he said, craned his neck towards the source of the laughter. "B-Baby... baby g-girl...!" (Y/N) was hunched over by the snack bar and laughing until she silently coughed and composed herself for a second.
Realizing that the room has gotten silent and remembering that Henry was in the room, (Y/N)'s smiling face fell and she immediately turned pale. Turning around, she saw that everyone was looking at her - some girls were annoyed, some were surprised, and some were disgusted.
However, the one that (Y/N) looked at the most was Henry. His face was neutral, but he had an eyebrow raised as if he was asking her what was funny about what he just said. Though that's not really what was going on inside his mind.
Feeling a chill run down her spine, (Y/N) let out a nervous forced laugh as she hastily walked over towards the door. "Ahahaha! I just remembered that I left something in my carriage before I went inside the palace! I'll be back real soon!" She said in one breath and walked out of the room, immediately slamming the door close and then her face contorted into fear and disbelief.
'Oh fuck.' She thought inside her head while raking her fingers through her hair. 'Shit shit shit.' (Y/N) began to bite her nails nervously and it only increased once she heard clicking of boots heading towards the door.
She knew it was Henry.
Panicking, (Y/N) glanced around the large hallway to see if there were any rooms she could take refuge in until Henry was gone. The moment her eyes landed on a door that was slightly open, she immediately dashed towards it and went inside, quickly closing it.
Her eyes were met by pure blackness as she entered the room, but she still kept her hands on the doorknob while her ears were pressed against the door to hear if Henry was already gone.
As Henry stepped out of the room, his green eyes scanned the vicinity for a certain (H/C) haired girl who just left the room a few seconds ago. He wanted to catch up to her.
No one laughed at him like that when he flirted with other girls. It looked like she was making fun if him for even trying.
A frown curled his lips down when (Y/N) was nowhere to be seen in the hallway. Figuring that she might've went to the bathroom, he turned his heels around and walked towards his destination to see the girl.
(Y/N), who was listening in to the sounds of Henry's boots disappearing into the hallway, exhaled in relief as she felt her shoulders loosen from the tension she held inside her body. Unfortunately for her, she felt a breath tickling the back of her neck just as she felt safe.
"Hey, Hen-" Yelping in surprise and fear, (Y/N) swiftly turned around and slapped whoever was behind her, even if it was pitch black. Her hand came in contact with a skin, and the harsh slap she gave towards the person earned her a groan from them.
"Ow, what was that for, Henry!?" A boyish voice exclaimed angrily and it was then that she realized that she slapped one of the princes. She thinks.
Stumbling, (Y/N) turned on the doorknob and opened it wide to let in some light from the hallways and towards the pitch black room where she was just hiding in. As she took a step back in fear, her eyes caught a pair of bright green eyes staring back at her in surprise and confusion.
The boy in front of her had ruffled black hair that was messily swept over to the side and he was wearing some sort of a grey fancy suit that complimented his cream-colored skin.
'Oh shit I just slapped Prince Elias...!' She screamed inside her head and a panicked look settled on her face.
"Hm?" The boy finally recovered from the slap, which still left a small red mark on his cheek. Straightening himself, the boy inched closer towards the girl with a hand on his chin as he observed (Y/N) curiously.
"You're not Henry." He said before taking a step back from her. Elias crossed his arms and eyed the girl nastily - anyone who got slapped for no reason at all would be pissed after that. "You're rude for slapping someone like that, you know?"
Instead of continuing to feel scared, (Y/N) suddenly offended that she got accused for being rude. "Excuse me? You're the one who scared the living daylights out of me in a dark room! It's natural that I got scared and tried to defend myself by slapping you!"
Scoffing, Elias tilted his head to the side and smirked cockily. "It's not my fault that you're such a scaredy-cat, girl." He said, making (Y/N) frown angrily. "And do you even know who you're talking to right now?"
(Y/N) rolled her eyes and crossed her arms as well. "I know you're one of the princes, but you're just as much of an ass if you use your position to gain advantage in an argument." It didn't even occur to her that she just cursed in front of the prince.
Lifting one of his eyebrow curiously, he took one step towards the girl. "Oh yeah?" Smirking once more, Elias inched his face close to (Y/N). "I'm a prince, so I can do whatever I want."
"You, on the other hand," He pointed at (Y/N)'s forehead and flicked it. "is a female noble who is being chosen to be engaged to one of us. You really wanna try and keep arguing with me when your entire future lies in our hands?"
'What an asshole. I can't believe my game self settled in to marry someone like this. I know he's fun and nice in his route but he's just an ass right now!' thought (Y/N).
With a scowl, (Y/N) rubbed her forehead and stuck her tongue out at Elias. "I'd rather be married to a commoner than to marry someone like you." She huffed out before walking over towards the door where all of the female nobles are.
Elias rolled his eyes and was about to walk away until he heard (Y/N) say something. "Just a word of advice, prince," she called out, emphasizing the word 'prince'
"Trying to scare someone to the point that they might have a heart attack is not considered as a prank and it's certainly not funny, especially when it's to someone you barely know." She said before opening the door and entering the large room where the nobles were.
Elias watched the door where the young girl slipped into and scoffed before walking away from the hallway. Shaking his head to remove any thoughts of the (H/C) haired girl, he started to think of numerous pranks he could do to piss of his brothers.
