Chapter 14

"Pitashree!"

Maharaj Jagadeesan froze in his place hearing the voice. Contemplating if he had heard right. Was it really Nilasi's voice?

He turned holding his breath inside in anticipation, but was shocked to see Nilasi actually stood a few feet away from him. With a smile, she ran to him and hugged her father.

The breath that was trapped inside his lungs, was finally released as he saw her smiling and happy in perfect health. But how?

His eyes fell on Nivedita who had entered the chamber behind her daughter. She looked at her husband cautiously as he put Nilasi down and looked at his wife in surprise. His eyes fell on her arms where she held two little infants.

"Pitashree? See! My brothers!"

"Devi Yamini, aapko to gyat hai na, ki iss mantra ka prayog kebal putra prapti ke uddesh se kiya jata hai.

(Lady Yamini, you are aware that this spell can be used only for the purpose of obtaining sons.)"

The Ashvinis, the twin gods of health and medicine, asked.

"Janti hu Prabhu. Kintu mera nibedan hai aapse, aap iss bacci ke pidha ka aant kare. Yeadhi mere paas koyi aur bikalp hota, toh main aapka aahabhan nehi karti.

(I am aware of that, my lord. But it is my request to you to end the suffering of this child. If I had any other choice, I wouldn't have called for you.)"

Raani Yamini replied with folded hands and pointed at an unconscious Rajkumari Nilasi who had developed a deadly disease and was fading away as her parents watched helplessly. Maharaj Jagadeesan had left no stones unturned to cure her. But the Vaiyds had given their answers only in negative. Even Rajkumar Durdharsh with all his knowledge and efforts failed to do anything for his niece.

"Kripa kijiye meri bacci par. Aab kebal aap hi hai, jo ise thik kar sakte hai.

(Please do a favor to my daughter. Only you can treat her back to health!)"

This time it was Maharani Nivedita who came in front folding her hand, pleading them. She was the one who requested Yamini to call the Ashvinis as a last resort. For, she was a mother and a mother could go to any lengths to save her child.

"Aapko gyat hai yeh kitna anucit hai? Aap iss mantra ka durupyog kar rahi hai. Aapko putra ki koyi aabasakta nehi hai. Aap kebal hamse iss bacci ke cikitsa karwane ke uddesh se, hamara aahabhan kiya hai.

(Do you realize how unfair your actions are? You are misusing the spell. You have no need for a son. You only summoned us to treat this girl.)"

The Ashvinis said looking at Yamini in displeasure. Raani Yamini lowered her eyes remaining silent and then glanced at Nivedita nervously.

"Ashvini kumaro!
Yeh satya hai, ki aapko bulaneka uddesh meri putri ki jeevhan ka raksa hai. Kintu main aapko aaswasan deti hu, ki aapke putron ke saath koyi aanyay nehi hoga. Kripa kare humpar prabhu.

(Ashvini kumars!
This is true that the reason behind calling you is to save my daughter's life. But I assure you, I will not let any unfairness fall upon your sons. Please do us this favor!)"

Maharani Nivedita pleaded again. The Ashvinis looked at her and then at the sick child of hers. They took a moment to share a glance between themselves before appearing on both sides of the unconscious girl. Together they put their hand on her head and stomach. A warm glow emitted from their bodies and slowly some sort of slime started to cover the body of Rajkumari Nilasi.

Long moments passed in silence as the Rajkumari remained covered in the slime and it started to change its color before once again decreasing and disappearing from her body. The Ashvinis slowly removed their hands. Rajkumari Nilasi was still unconscious, but her sickly pale features had turned into a healthy glowing one. She didn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort anymore.

Maharani Nivedita wiped her eyes and rushed to her daughter's side. She touched her gently caressing her face and kissing her forehead.

"Hum jante hai, hame bulaneka aapka uddesh swach tha. Kintu yeadhi issi prakar iss mantra ka prayog Devi Yamini karti rahi, toh yeh sarbatha anucit hoga.

Issbar iss mantra ka prayog unhone aapke kehe par kiya hai, isiliye isska fal bhi aaphiko prapt hoga Devi Nivedita.

Hum putra ka bardan Devi Yamini ko nehi, balki aapko de rahe hai.

Kya aapko swikar hai?

(We know that you have no ill intention behind summoning us. But if lady Yamini continues to use this spell like this, it won't be right.

This time she has used this spell because of you. That's why you'll get the result of this spell only, Devi Nivedita.

We will give sons not to Devi Yamini, but to you.

Do you accept it?)"

The Ashvinis said shocking both of them. Maharani Nivedita finally came out of her shocked state and folded her hands before replying.

"Meri koyi putra santan nehi hai. Aapka yeh ashirbad mujhe saharsh swikar hai. Main bachan deti hu, ki jo putra aap mujhe pradan karenge unke lalan palan mei koyi kaami nehi hone dungi main.

Mere Putra honge woh.

Samasta sangsar unhe mere aur Maharaj Jagadeesan ke putron ke paricay se janega.

(I have no male child. Your this blessing, I accept with joy. I promise you, there'll be no lacking in their upbringing from my side.

They'll be my sons.

The entire world will know them as my and Maharaj Jagadeesan's sons!)"

"Arya? I am sorry, I took the decision without informing you or taking your permission. But I was desperate. I couldn't see Nilasi like that. I---"

Maharani Nivedita kept ranting in nervousness. But Maharaj Jagadeesan heard none of it as his eyes remained glued to the two boys she held in her arms. The only words that kept ringing in his ears were those of Rishi Garga.

Jeevhanvar putra prem se banchit rahoge tum!

Tum kabhi kisi putra santan ko janm nehi de payoge, Kumar.

Yeh shrap hai mera!"

(You'll remain deprived from the love of a son for your whole life!

You'll never be able to sire any male child, young man!

This is my curse to you!")

"Arya! Please say something." Nivedita called him again as his silence increased her fears only.

Maharaj Jagadeesan came out of his reverie and took a shaky breath in before looking at her. He shook his head in negative in slow motion and came closer to her. He then did something that surprised her. He cupped her cheeks gently and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

"Pitashree?"

Maharaj Jagadeesan straightened quickly as he realized his daughter was still present in the room. Nivedita surpassed a smile looking at her husband's awkwardness.

Rajkumari Nilasi came to her parents side and peaked at the two new addition of the family. Her eyes sparkled with excitement.

"What will I call them?" She asked looking questioningly at her father. Maharaj Jagadeesan looked at his wife to know if their names had been kept already or not. But Nivedita shook her head lightly with a smile to let him know that she had not thought of it yet.

Maharaj Jagadeesan took his sons in his arms and smiled looking at their innocent faces. If only he knew, how much innocent these two were going to be!

"Tumhare bhaiyo ka naam hoga,

(Your brothers will be called,)

"Nirmay & Sarvaay."
