Buttercup's P.O.V
I didn't cry after that. It was my first and only tear. Instead I sat on the cliff and watched as the stars peeked into the black sky. I knew I was gonna have to get back soon, but I was prepared to stay the night out here if it meant not seeing Butch.
"You okay there Sunshine?" Someone asked. I jumped and turned expecting Butch, but it wasn't him. It was a boy who looked an awful lot like Brick, but he had pink eyes.
"Who are you?" I asked, more shouted, while backing away. The boy put his arms up in surrender while tsing a step forward.
"My name is Kai. I want to help you not hurt you," he assured me but I still felt uneasy. Why did he look so freaking much like Brick!?!?
"Where did you come from? I don't remember seeing you at camp," I whispered. I knew we were alone, but I didn't want to cause any unnoticed attention. Kai slowly put his arms down and smiled.
"I'm looking for two people. Brick and Blossom," he said. My heart skipped a beat as he said that.
"What do you want with her?" I growled, defending my sister. Kai suddenly looked alert and interested.
"You know her?" he asked, a smiling playing on his lips.
"No," I lied, but he just smiled even bigger.
"You're name is Buttercup, isn't it?" he asked. I was really beginning to get freaked out.
"Who are you?" I ask again.
"I'm Kai, I told you," he insisted with a frown. I shook my head quickly and leaned forward.
"Who are you really?"
"Oh, well I can't tell you that," he looked away and dug his foot subconsciously into the dirt.
"What do you mean you can't tell me? You're a freaking stalker!" I screamed. Kai's head jerked towards me and shook his head violently.
"No, no! I swear I'm not! Ask me anything about Blossom and I'll know it!" he said. I cocked an eyebrow and held back a sigh.
"Knowing anything about someone is stalkerish!" I shouted. Kai lowered his head and sighed.
"Not if she's your mom," he said quietly. I opened my mouth to say something and stopped.
"Your mom?" I asked slowly, clarifying the words. Kai nodded his head while still staring at the dirt. "Blossom is 15 and has not franchised with anyone, let alone Brick."
"No, no I know. She has her superhero duty and that," he agreed. Some of my worries began to slip out as he said that. If he was telling the truth than of course he would know Blossom was a superhero.
"Why are you here?" I asked, dragging away the topic. Kai looked somewhat relieved and regained a small cheesy smile. The apple did not fall far from the tree.
"To stop you. You're making a huge mistake," he warned with a sense of urgency.
"Well you should talk to your mom about that," I dismissed, but Kai looked scared.
"I cant! I already had too close of a run-in with my mom. She can't see me, but I need you to stop her."
"Why not Bubbles?" I asked curiously.
"She's out of the question," Kai shook his head and looked to me. "I can't tell you exactly what needs to be changed but my sister made this," he held out a slip of paper and I took it. "It's a riddle, but you can figure it out."
"This is why Bubbles is out of the picture?" I asked with a small smile as I studied the confusing text. Kai smiled sheepishly and shrugged.
"One reason, sure," I looked up to ask him more but he was gone. I glanced around the forest and then down to the future.
I came from the past with a test
To study your knowledge at best
My mother and father are at war
And even if the future is far
Decisions made now are every piece
To the future of your niece
You must learn to trust in love
Of all things above
You say that the town is on top
But you can't always be the good cop
Learn to tell friend from foe
Learn to let go
Stop the mistakes before life is done
The days are numbered for the sun
It doesn't matter of your hue
Red, green, or blue
It takes two to make one
Go out and have fun
I shook my head and tucked away the paper. And he said he couldn't tell me. Pfft.
