Chapter 5
Grace's POV
"Be safe ok?" Mat says as he walks me out the school. I sigh and then turn to look at him, plastering a smile on my face.
"I always am. I'm just going up the road to meet Peter! It's not like a car is going to crash into me!" I argue with him but he looks at me with a straight face.
"That's not what I meant!" He shouts as he walks away from me, leaving me alone on the pavement.
I stand there for a moment, taking in my thoughts before setting off towards a building in the distance with a red cross on it. To pass the time, I pull out my phone and send a message to May.
Going to see Peter. Meeting me there? x - Grace
It doesn't take her long to reply.
Nah. Got a bunch of homework to do. See you when you get home. - May
I sigh, knowing that I'm going to have to face the scary Hospital alone. Although I try to put on a brave face for May, the Hospital terrifies me.
Kay. Bye! Xx - Grace
I place my phone into my back pocket as I arrive at the Hospital.
It has many floors to it, each floor meaning something different. Peter is on the 3rd floor of 7. That floor is the children's ward. Peter is still counted as a child as he is 17. Although I know that he would hate being counted as a child.
I walk up towards the front desk, behind sits a woman in a fancy, tight dress who seems to be busy enough without me asking her questions.
"Uh excuse me?" I say and she looks up for a moment and then looks back down at her computer. "Um...mi-"
"I'm sorry, I'm gonna have to put you on hold for now. Thank you." She speaks, making me jump in surprise. Once she presses a button, she looks up at me with an annoyed face.
"Uh, hi. I need a pass to get to Peter Edwards?" I ask and she opens a drawer beside her with a straight face. She rustles through the documents before pulling out a sheet of paper.
"Show this to the guard at the door, he'll let you in." She says, not knowing that I know about this already as I've visited many times.
"Thank ya!" I call, grabbing the sheet from her hand. I get faced with a glare from the woman and then she goes back to her work.
I guide myself towards the elevators that happen to be next to the stairs.
"Lazy or Active?" I mutter to myself quietly so that no one else could hear me speak. In the end, I choose the elevator and step into it as the door closes.
After a while, the door opens up to a less busy floor. I step out and take a look around.
A waiting room is filled with children, some crying, others holding a part of their body tightly, trying to keep it together to not let the tears flow. Stressed mums, tell each other their stories about why and how they've ended up at a hospital.
I navigate myself down the corridor and then stop as I reach a particular door. On the sign, it says: 'Coma Ward.'
I open the door and I meet a large man. He has the same face as the receptionist, hard and rude.
But then, his face turns into a smile. "Grace Edwards. Back again are we?" He says to me, uncrossing his arms from his usual bodyguard form.
"Yep. Can't leave Peter alone can I?" I try to add the humor into the conversation, before flashing the document on his face.
He nods his head, not even needing to read it and lets me step into the room. I smile at him and then I scan the room for Peters bed.
His bed is on the side of the room, with a desk beside him that has flowers on it. I stroll towards him and pull up a chair
"Hey, Peter. Sorry, I can't visit you as much anymore. School has been kind of taking over my life." I try to laugh but it turns into a sound that sounds like a dying fish.
I glance over to the flowers, the same flowers that I placed only a few days ago. I sigh as they wilt, looking as sad as ever.
"So my day was good. They did an assembly on you, for a fundraiser. Remember me telling you about it?" I ask him, not expecting to get a reply.
Beep 123 Beep 123
I almost feel the Deja vu. It's practically silent in the ward, other than the sound of the machines, counting the heartbeats of the other patients.
"You try so hard but you don't succeed........When you try your best, but you don't succeed. When you get what you want, but not what you need. When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep. Stuck in reverse"
I sing to him softly. He doesn't do anything, not that I would expect him to. As there no one stopping me, I continue.
"Lights will guide, you home. And ignite your bones......And I will try to fix you." I sing to Peter, meaning the last sentence.
"Beautiful." I jump at the sudden voice and quickly turn around to find out who sneaked up on me.
I'm face to face with a man. His black, dead eyes look up and down, taking a judgment of me.
His hair is scruffier than mine before I brush my hair in the morning, the spikes sticking up in the air. He doesn't look like he cares either.
Although, I've never seen a darker colour of hair before. It's the colour of the midnight sky, not a single speck of a different colour.
I glare at him with wide eyes while he watches Peter beside me. "You have a real talent." He tells me.
"What are you doing here?" I ask him, trying to keep relaxed before I punch him.
"How long has he been in a coma for?" He asks, ignoring my question. I glare at him but he waits for an answer.
"4 years," I reply, not reveling anything else.
"What was he like? When he was......awake?"
"Why should I tell you? I don't even know you!" I snarl at him. He doesn't seem taken back by my answer.
"Answer. I can help you."
I think about whether to answer to him or not. "He was loving. He liked protecting people from danger so that everyone around him could be happy. And he would try to be there by your side if you were every in trouble." I say quietly, reminiscing the memories of him.
"Sounds like an amazing brother." He says and I nod in agreement. "What did he mean to you?"
"He meant......the world. I loved him.....so much. It's really hard living without him." I admit, knowing that I'm saying too much and that if I carried on, I'll be telling a stranger everything.
"How did he get into this.........sleep?" He asks and my breathing hitches. He doesn't seem to be letting this question go as well by leaning in closer to hear my answer.
"Uh well......it just happened really. I got home and-" I say but suddenly he grabs my wrist and squeezes it tightly.
"Liar. You sick liar." He growls at me and throws me to the ground. I let out a cry and he kneels down. "You know the real reason why he's like this."
"What do you mean?" I try to not sound terrified but I fail and he smirks when he hears my scared voice.
"Oh, you know what I mean Grace Edwards. This.......IS YOUR FAULT!" He screams in my face and I try to wriggle away but he holds me by the shoulders, digging his fingernails into my skin.
"Shut up.......just shut up!" I scream at him, tears now streaming down my face.
"What's going on here?!" I hear a woman shout as she runs into the room. Another person follows quickly behind her. Nathan
"Oh we were just talking......weren't we Grace?" He asks me, standing up. I still lie on the ground, too weak to answer or get onto my feet.
"Get out of this hospital. Now!" She screams at the man and he turns to face me.
"See you again.....Edwards." I flinch when he says my second name. He walks off, leaving the room.
Nathan and the girl rush over to me and pull me onto my feet. I waver a little bit and Nathan holds onto me. "Are you ok? Did he hurt you?" Nathan asks me and I shake my head, still speechless from what just happened.
"I'm Fliss. This is my brother Nathan. But you've already met before haven't you?" She says.
"We go to the same school. I was in his brother classes." He says, leaving out the part where he bullied him. But I think he wants to put that behind him now.
"Ah yes. Well, if there's anything you would like to inform me about please come to me. And if that man ever comes up to you again, phone the police, ok?" She tells me like she's talking to a kid.
"Ok," I speak for the first time since they arrived. She smiles a half smile and then leaves with Nathan trailing behind her. He gives me one last look and then exits.
I turn to the bed beside me, Peter still sleeping soundly. "What just happened?"

Hello, ma baby fireballs!
I'm so proud of myself! Do you want to know why? Well, I managed to write some of this chapter while I was waiting for my singing lesson. Meaning that I don't have to spend forever writing on the weekend!
Oh, another thing that has happened is that I've put in an offer for a house so we're waiting for that to go through with the owners. So, I will be a bit stressed as I will be moving in I have no idea how long but I won't have much time to write.
Jabs went fine, Parents evening went fine. But overall, a really stressful week *loud sighs* Oh whale!
Thanks for reading and I hope that you liked it!
Baiiiii
