Chapter 26

Anna's POV

"I have brought you all here today to discuss an important matter." I stand at the front, holding my head high to my audience. Cleo also stands next to me but shying away from the edge. Of course, this kind of thing happens in the centre of a forest.

"Who decided to make Anna the leader?" An annoyed voice cuts my speech and I send a  piercing glare towards Mat. "Continue."

"Thank you. Grace and May's parents know. About their powers." I say, cutting straight to the chase. Flora immediately flies up to say something. "They also know about Cleo."

A chilling silence goes through the air. Flora sighs, raking a hand through her multi-coloured hair, her wings fluttering rapidly with nerves. Mat and Emily look down to the floor, processing the new information.

"How did they find out? You've managed to keep it up for years?" Flora asks and I almost don't want to say the reason but they have to know. They all notice my pause, knowing that I'm about to say something big.

"May. She told them. Well, she showed them. It's a long story." I begin, trying to think of a point on where to start. I tell them everything. From May inviting us round to Cleo having to run away for her life. During the whole speech, they stay silent but I can tell they're going to have a lot to say afterward.

"Cleo has been hiding here since but they might decide to get the fairy police involved and I mean, how hard is it to track someone when there are powers involved?"

"Hang on. Are you saying they haven't contacted them yet?" Emily comments and I shrug my shoulders. "How much have you actually talked with Grace?"

"That's the thing. Before I left, her mum said she was going to ground her so they must've taken away her phone. We don't know the situation at all." I tell them.

"Or maybe she's been taken to the fairy world. Human phones don't work there." Cleo butts in with her usual cheerfulness. "But let's hope that she hasn't been. She never did get checked for destructism did she?"

"That's the thing. Grace is a destructive." Flora says and everyone's attention gets turned to her. Even I stand down from the front to allow Flora to explain. "You know when she was born that they wanted to take her powers away? I told you that her powers were too harmful for this world."

"Yes, but then Decrin gave them back. But she's able to control them now." Mat says but Flora shakes her head.

"A destructive will never have full control over his or her powers. But when Decrin gave her powers back, she was already past the killing stage. If a destructive is alive after the age of 9, they begin to lose control. That's why it's so dangerous for Cleo to be....alive."

"So Grace is a destructive. But that might be a reason as to why her parents have not told the fairy police. Even though they work as Destructive Keepers, they're not going to snitch on their own child. So, Cleo, I think you're safe."

I try to continue with my speech but all my pre-prepared lines are all jumbled up. I still need to think of someway to get Mat and Grace back together too. But right now, I need to focus on other things.

"I say we kidnap Grace!" I gain control again, crossing my arms. When no one says anything, I can't tell if it's good or bad. "If we don't know what's happening, we might as well go and find out. Grace could be in trouble so I rather we go now then sit here thinking about what if's."

"Is anyone with me?" I ask and I earn a murmur of replies. But the majority of them sound positive so I round up the group and make my way into the lighter side of the Forest.

Even though he's trying to hide it, I know that Mat is worried for Grace. I obviously haven't told him yet that Grace and I know he's innocent but it makes more of a romantic forgiveness scene when they get back together again.

"You seem incredibly powerful today." Flora smirks at me and I roll my eyes as I stride up the street that leads towards Grace and May's house. "You see that face. That face of yours today makes me wonder what on earth are you thinking."

"Oh, Flora. I am thinking of amazing things." I reassure her. The people around me raise their eyebrows at this and I get offended for a moment that they have so little faith in me. "We're going to get Grace out this situation."

"And how, may I ask?" Mat, the person who loves irritating me, gets on my nerves yet again. "It's not like we can walk straight up to their front door and beg that they let their destructive daughter out?"

"Like I said earlier, we're going to kidnap her. And we're going to do that by breaking into her back-garden and you're going to climb a ladder and get her out." I instruct.

"Wait. You said me. I'm going to be climbing the ladder? Why not you?!"

"Um hello? Do you see these noodle arms? I'm a nerd, not a bodybuilder. Flora won't be able to as she won't be able to open the window without body strength and Emily.....well do you really want to see your sister falling off a ladder?"

"And you rather see me falling off the ladder?" He asks and my silent reply says my opinion. Mat sighs, knowing inside that he is the only one who's capable of doing it. Step 1 of getting Mat and Grace back together again, complete.

When we reach near to Grace's house, the sky was already dark, the sun having set on the way here. Mat crosses his arms in a huff. "You expect me to climb a ladder in pitch black? Are you actually trying to kill me?"

"Oh if I was trying, you'll be dead by now. Are you forgetting that you have light powers?" I guide everyone to their back gate that leads to the back garden, making sure everyone stays quiet. Many of the lights are switched on in the house, including Grace's.

When we get round, I hiss at everyone to stay away from the shines of light that come from the windows and to keep in the dark spots. "Hey, genius. Where's this ladder?"

"Just round here. I've been to this house so many times that I know it like the back of my hand." I lift up the ladder from the back of the shed and lean it up against the house. It just about reaches Grace's window when it's upright.

Mat looks at me then up towards the window and back at me again. "I'm doing this for Grace. Not for you." He shakes his hand and suddenly a bright light shines from his hand. He begins to scale the ladder, mumbling stuff under his breath as he goes up.

"So cute," Emily says when he gets out of earshot.

Grace's POV

I look towards my digital clock that stands on the side. "I've been here for 4 hours," I mumble to no one, counting the hours to how long I've been sitting in this solitary room for.

I've been stripped of my phone, computer, and IPad, everything that allows me to contact the outside. But it's not like I can use them when I have massive power blockers on my hands that restrict me touching anything.

The only entertainment that I've managed to find is books and smashing my power blockers against things. Fun huh? For all I know, May is having the same treatment as me but she did admit to having powers...well actually she admitted that I have powers.

I sigh, staring up at the ceiling. "Someone save me from this hell."

"Well as you asked so nicely." A familiar voice says and I shoot up from my lying position. Mat sits on the window ledge, his legs dangling out the window.

"Get down from there! You're going to hurt yourself." I get off my bed and quickly take him away from the open window. "Mat. I-I....what are you doing here?"

"Anna wanted us to kidnap you. Are you ok?" He asks, worry in his voice. I lift my hands to show him the power blockers. "Grace, they're only temporary." He tells me but I know he's lying. There's a tension in the air between us.

"Mat. I'm so sorry." I whisper, looking down as my eyes begin to fill with tears. "I didn't realise that May-"

"Hey, look at me." He lifts my head up using his finger under my chin. I stare into his big blue eyes. "If someone tried to tell me that Emily was wrong, I wouldn't believe them either. It was wrong of me to try and convince you that your sister was lying."

"But I didn't even listen. I was awful to you." I don't get to say much more as he hugs me tightly. This is the first time that I've ever had no contact with him. I've always managed to find some way to message him. So it feels like a lifetime that I've heard his voice.

"You had your reasons. Right now, we need to focus on getting you out of here. And there's only one exit." He breathes in as he looks towards the window. My heart stops and I'm sure my reaction is shown to Mat.

"Is Anna trying to kill us?" I ask as he wraps my hands around his neck. "Hang on. What are you doing?"

"You have power blockers on your hands. Originally I was going to make you climb down yourself but this makes it so much more safer and romantic. 3...2..." He counts down and I know what he's doing, "Jump."

I jump, wrapping my legs around his body. As awkward as it is, it's going to be the only way I'm getting down from this house. "Please don't let go, Grace. I don't want to explain what happened to your parents."

"As long as you don't drop me." I tighten my hands around him as we begin to climb down the ladder that had been propped up against my house. I try to keep my face in Mat's shoulder, not looking down.

"You can stop squealing now. We're on the ground." Mat chuckles and I unwrap my legs from his body. Anna, Emily, and Flora stand to the side, grinning at us like Cheshire Cats.

"And the boss is back."

Hello my Baby Little Fire Balls and welcome back to another chapter!

I was supposed to write so much more for this chapter but I felt it would drag on a little if I had. If I need to, I can push the finale of the book by two weeks because I'm a bit behind on my Pokémon Planning.

This week has been the toughest week of my life so I apologise if this chapter isn't as good as all my others. I might say what's wrong in My Randomness Book because it might be good to let it out but I'll see!

Anyway, please remember to Like and Comment for support on this book and also follow for more updates on this book and all my others!

Bye!
