Chapter 20

Cleo's POV ( NEW POV )

"Cleo! Hurry up! You're going to be late for your first day of school!" Anna screams up the stairs to me, irritation in her voice. I inhale nervously before finishing packing my bag and slinging it over my shoulder.

A destructive going to school? In Fairy World, this will be the front cover by lunch. There, a destructive was not allowed to do anything normal because us and normal shouldn't go in the same sentence. We were so unordinary, we weren't allowed to be known to others.

But in this world, everyone is normal and no one is considered weird for something they can't help. I like this world. "Dammit, Cleo! I'm leaving without you if you're not down here in 10 seconds! 10. 9..."

"Coming!" Of course, out of everyone they could've picked me to live with, I had to placed with temper pot. I hurry down the stairs and spot Anna holding the door open, rolling her eyes. "We're not that late. We've got ages."

"Just get outside." She grunts and I skip outside, taking in the fresh air. Usually, in the destructive 'hotel', we weren't allowed to go outside when we wanted, only on restricted hours. And in those hours, we had nothing to do outside other than sit on the grass and have meaningless discussions with other destructives.

I smile when I see a car pass and birds calling to each other in the sky. Everyday things can bring so much happiness to a destructive. If only I could've brought my 'acquaintances' with me, they'd love it here.

"I understand you've never seen light before but you're starting to look weird." Anna decides to say as I'm crouching down to look at a beetle. It's tiny legs move across the soil, scurrying from one place to another.

"So. You've been living here your whole life? Not in Penel world?" I ask Anna as we walk on forward.

"Yes. I like it here. Although I would've been surrounded by others like me and won't have to hide my powers, this world is so much more relaxed then Penel."

"Why?" I ask, wanting to know more about this world.

"Well, here you don't have Demons, Vampires or Werewolves threatening to go to war at any point because that kind of things isn't real here. They believe that only them and no other being exist. We're like a secret to them."

"But what about all the books on your shelves that have names like Dracula and Harry Potter? Which, may I add, is a great book." I ask and Anna shoots me an amused look before continuing.

"People who are Wizards or Vampires and so on write those books so that they can expand Human's imaginations. Yes, they know about us, but to them, we're just fiction."

"Penels are called lots of different things like Superhumans as well. But we're not wizards. And yes, I know it's a great book series. And I would know because they're my books!" She shakes her head.

"That's interesting. I like this world even more now." I bounce up and down, walking along the pavement.

"Well, unless you can get your powers under control-

"Which I physically can't" I sigh, interrupting her.

"You won't be able to stay here. We won't want to blow up this peaceful world do we?" Anna turns a corner and we spot May and Grace in the distance. I run up to them, excitement filling my veins. "She's been like this all morning." Anna runs a hand over her face.

"First day of school Cleo!" May smiles, linking her arm with mine as we walk in front of the girls. "You'll have me to look after you and I can help you in classes," May tells me, squeezing my hand.

"Are the teachers mean here? I've never been to a school before." The nerves set in as we get closer to the school. "I know basic Maths, English and Science."

"Our teacher is really nice. The nicest in the school actually. But you seem pretty intelligent to me so I think you'll do fine. Oh! What time is your fainting?" May asks me and Anna, who is listening in to our conversation, makes a noise behind us.

"Destructives don't faint in that way. When a Penel faints, it's a way to release their unused energy into the air so they can make new space for more power. A destructive get that taken away because you can't let that amount of destructive energy into the air."

"Hang on. Even I didn't know this." Grace looks to Anna. "But doesn't that mean Cleo has too much energy inside of her?"

"Yes. I'm not sure how that really works because we don't get taught that kind of thing as we don't even know the existence of them. Flora only told me Cleo doesn't faint before she left. She also told me to not use your powers. At all." Anna commands Cleo.

"Fine. I used to get this jab thing that they didn't tell us what it was about. You could ask Flora if she has that covered as well." I begin to feel the difference between a normal Penel and a destructive. So many jabs and exercise routines.

"The same goes for you May. No powers. And make sure you get to the toilets before you faint, we don't want our secret getting out." Grace tells her sister as the school appears in the distance, filling me with even more fear. What if they find out I'm different from them? I don't even live a normal Penel life, let alone a normal human life.

"K! Let's go, Cleo! Bye guys!" May says goodbye to the teenagers and drags me towards the building. Butterflies fill my stomach as a number of children around us grow. So this is what school is like huh? "You ready?"

"Yup! Let's do this."

***************

"Off you go! Have a nice break time." The teacher tells the class and everyone bounces out of their seats. May grabs my arm and drags me along with her out the room.

"You've had a tour around the school, right? So I'm going to take you on a tour around the playground!" May says excitably as we follow the crowd through the halls. Some of the older kids spill out their classes, shoving us out their way.

We reach the doors and hurry outside. The winter air rushes through my white hair, sending a chill down my spine. When I arrived here, they did ask a lot of questions about my hair but eventually, after I said a thousand times that it was natural, they let me go.

"So different parts of the school is where different years hang out." May begins her tour, taking me to the top of the playground. "The lower years have break before us so we don't clash for where we hang out."

"At the top of the playground is where our year, year 4, hangs out." I look around and notice that we're only surrounded by people in our year and none others. "Year 5 and 6 hang around in the lower parts of the playground, where the apparatus is."

"Did they put that line on purpose?" I ask, pointing to the yellow line that goes across the playground horizontally.

"Yes actually. They put that in a couple of years ago." She says with a laugh. "Then year 3 play in the garden in the corner. Once you go up a year, you get upgraded to that part of the play area. It's a weird system but it works."

"That's what happened in the hotel as well," I say, making sure I say hotel instead of destructives lab. "Except we changed whenever a group would leave. My group was at the top which was the best place. They must wonder where I am..." I trail off, my thoughts going back to the fairy world again.

"But you're here now. Safe." May squeezes my shoulder before continuing. "This building, " May points to a small bungalow in the middle of the play area, "People go behind there to hide, kiss, weird stuff. But we can go behind there if you want to see what's happening?"

"What kind of weird stuff?" A grin creeps up onto my face, dirtiness taking over my mind. May smirks before dragging towards the building. "So what year rules this area?"

"No one really. Just anyone who wants to....look." We approach the bungalow and look behind it. No one. "That's odd. There's always something happening here." May burrows her eyebrows together before walking into the darkness.

"H-Help." A croaky voice speaks in the shadows and I grab May to pull her back. "P-Please." The voice says again. But we don't see this person because of the lack of sun.

"Hello? Who are you?" May dares to speak and the person makes a muffled noise before answering.

"Just a fellow student in need of help. I-I'm stuck in the metal fence." He says and May gives me a look. I know she wants to help but I don't trust this person already.

"We should go get a teacher-"

"No! No. Just, come here." The person shouts. May releases her hand from mine and walks towards the voice. "T-Thank you."

"May!" I whisper harshly to my friend as she disappears. For a while, it goes silent. But then a mangled scream comes from where May once was. "May!" I run into the darkness but light then fills in the shadows, creating an image in front of me.

"Cleo Rivers. Nice to see you again." The voice now has a face, glaring at me evilly. "Last time I saw you, you were being restrained."

"Let go of her Lucifer!" I shout, him holding May by her wrists so that she can't run away.

"Now why would I do that? Destructive. I shouldn't be getting orders from you. Scurry off to where you belong and let me do my job." He growls. He kicks my stomach, sending me flying towards the floor.

"Cleo!" May cries out, struggling against his grasp. "No!" Lucifer reaches into his pocket and throws something on the floor. It lets out a black smoke, blinding my vision of them.

"May!" I scream, choking on the smoke. I flap the smoke away but once it disappears, May and Lucifiar had gone.

No.

Hello my baby little fireballs! Smaller chapter than usually huh? The reason for this was because the next thing that's supposed to be happing will have a load of description and added information that I didn't want to join it onto this chapter.

How is everyone? I'm...ok I think. I'm not having a bad time at school but nothing interesting is happening. Admittedly, as it's bonfire weekend, I should've done a special chapter for it but I didn't really have anything planned and it wouldn't be very interesting.

Have you guys checked out my new book Miraculous Hedgila? If you haven't, go and have a read of the first chapter. Its release weekend went amazingly well and I had so much support. That'll be updated every other weekend ( the weekend that this book isn't being updated ).

Don't forget to Vote and Comment for support on this book ( I really appreciate it ), and also follow my account for updates on this book and all my others! Also, have a look at my new bio as I've added some upcoming books that I'll be doing.

Bye!
