Chapter 19

Grace's POV

We stand where we stood only that morning, surrounded by the familiar mushroom houses that I'm starting to memorize. Although now it's dark, pitch black even. "Flora, why couldn't we go through the portal at a normal time?" Anna complains.

"Cleo is now a wanted 'person'." Flora looks towards the girl who stands beside May. "We couldn't risk her being seen and taken away to be killed. Therefore, it's now 3 am."

"The witching hour!" Cleo's smile turns into an evil one. Flora rolls her eyes at the young girl's mischief and turns to where the portal once was this morning. I rub my hands over my bare shoulders in attempt to warm myself up.

"Here." I feel a warm material drape over my shoulders as Mat puts his jumper onto me. I thank him with a smile before Flora gestures us to her.

"Right, we have to do what we did before to create a portal but we have to make it strong enough so that it doesn't break when we stop putting power towards it. But this time, we have Grace and May to help." Flora instructs us.

"What about me?" Cleo cries but then realises why. "Can I not have a bit of fun?"

"No," Flora says bluntly, making Cleo pout but she stands and watches us. "Right May I want you to focus your power in a nonhealing way. Like....don't allow the healing energy to come out your hands, transfer it into power."

"Easier said than done Flora." Anna gets her hands into position, flexing them. "Ready? Go!" I place my hands out before me and force my fire out as power. But as soon as I do this, I already feel the energy from my body come out, getting more tired by the second.

The portal eventually shows, it's purple colours lighting up the dark night. "Ok! One by one, we all need to go through the portal quickly. Cleo you first." Flora shouts her orders and Cleo does what she's told, disappearing into the mist.

Next May, the weakest, goes in and then we all follow, leaving me, Flora and Amelia. "Grace, you go, I'll see you tomorrow for a training session," Flora tells me and I wave her goodbye as I go through.

I feel a hand grab mine, pulling me through back into the human world that I love. Last time we came back to the Human world after being in the Fairy world, we came home to destruction. But this time, everything seems to be intact.

Many of my friends are laying on the ground, exhausted. Mat makes sure I'm stable before sitting me on the sofa. My heart races and I feel like I could go to sleep in an instant. "You ok? You were doing that for a long time." Mat double checks with me.

"So were you." I breathe heavily. I spot Cleo talking to May on the sofa, giggling about something. "We need to discuss where Cleo is going to be staying. Any ideas?" I address Mat, Emily, and Anna once they get up from off from the floor.

"Well, your house is ruled out because Cleo is friends with your dad and frenemies with your mum." Emily first says, the rest of the group agreeing. "That leaves mine and Anna's."

"She can come round mine. I can just tell my mum that Cleo is Flora's latest student whose getting taught alongside May. And that Cleo's parents disowned her when they found out she had powers." Anna already plans her lie.

"What if they ask why does someone have a power that is like yours, Grace's and May's?" Emily quizzes her.

"I'll say they have the power to create electricity. Unlike me where I have the power to STEAL electricity. But Cleo will be better than me but I think I can let that go for now." Anna clicks at Cleo. "You. With me."

"Ugh. I hope your parents have different personalities then you." Cleo complains, earning a glare from Anna.

"I'll have you know I got my personality for my dad. You're lucky he's not here this week or we'll both pair up against you." Anna smiled, masking her sadness. I know she still misses her dad, after the incident but never normally brings it up.

"Remember to put power defenders on Cleo like Flora instructed." Mat shouts to Anna who nods as she's walking out the door. "Poor girl." He says, making sure she's out the door.

"Must be hard, thinking about Cleo not having any parents but still having a father figure while hers got killed due to Decrin's Husband." Emily murmurs before getting up and dragging Mat with her, leaving me and May in our sitting room.

"Right off to bed you! Training session tomorrow!" May bounces off from the sofa and skips upstairs.

"Can Cleo learn as well?" May asks, her eyes shining.

"We'll see."

        ***Next Day***

"Right May. Today's lesson will be-"

"Showing us how to transfer our powers into energy to make portals?" May interrupts Flora, smiling towards Cleo who plays with her metal power defenders. She doesn't seem to be liking them as much as Flora wants her to.

"Cleo! Dare take them off and we'll be shipping you back!" Flora scowls when she sees Cleo attempting to kick them off. They look like massive gloves, tied tight to her wrists. They're not the prettiest in the world, making Cleo hate them even more.

"Stupid things. Evil. Stupid. Demons." Cleo mutters, glaring at them while the rest of the group chuckles at her.

"We'll be learning how to create portals in another lesson. That lesson will include the whole group because everyone seems to be uneducated in that department." Flora points her finger towards us. "You'll be learning how to fight."

"Fight?!" I choke on air. "She only learned how to get her powers out last training session!" I sputter, not agreeing with the teacher.

"I know but power training has to fast-paced just in case the Penel finds themselves in a situation that they'll need to fight in. May, we need to decide if you're Defence or Attack." Flora continues with her lesson obviously getting bored of the people who interrupt her lesson.

"Personally, I think you'll be able to cover defense. But you could think of ways to attack." Flora continues on before clicking her fingers and a ball machine appearing beside her.

"No, she can do defense." I come in, not liking the thought of my little sister being in a battle.

"Now she knows what Peter felt like." Flora smirks. "To do defense, I thought you could be able to make a healing shield. I've seen the elders do this before and it's worked well with their powers."

"Elders?" May asks.

"Elders are the people who are like the government of Penel world. They can master any type of power." Cleo comes in looking to Flora for approval once she finished.

"Yes, Cleo. You are correct. May what you need to do, is first, create a healing ball." Flora starts and May follows with ease, a white ball appearing in her hands. Her eyes bright up when she sees the ball of power.

"Great! Now slowly, open your arms until they're horizontal." Flora instructs. May separates her hands gently, making sure that the ball doesn't lose its power. As she making it wider, the ball is also getting taller, creating a healing shield in front of her.

"I'm doing it!" May smiles as she sees the blue shield. Flora also looks pleased but then goes towards the ball machine. "I'm ready!" May says with a determined look and Flora turns the ball machine on.

It gradually starts to let out balls, one by one. Each ball hits the shield but bounces off, not touching May. Eventually, the machine runs out of balls with May's shield still standing. "Good?"

"Brilliant! You're done for the day! Just keep practicing the shield in your room and have Grace throw things like brushes at you." Flora tells her and May breaks the shield. Then Flora turns to Cleo with a nervous look. Cleo, feeling the attention on her, looks up.

"What?" Cleo asks, her eyes turning to everyone as we all watch her.

"I'm going to let you use your powers......on something small. I did some research yesterday and I don't think you using your powers will break the world." Cleo's face lights up at this and bounces to the center of the forest while May comes towards me.

"What on? A slug? A snail?" Cleo jumps up and Flora rolls her eyes.

"Soil. No living things yet." Flora walks towards Cleo and takes off her power defenders. Then, she picks up a fist of soil and turns to the worried Penel who stretches up fingers.

"I'm free!" Cleo smiles throwing her hands up in the air. "What can I do?"

"Turn this soil into sand," Flora instructs her. Cleo sighs and then waves her hand and the soil immediately turns into yellow grains.

"Done? Make me do hard things!"

"Nope! That's it! Goodbye!" Flora waves, putting Cleo's power defenders back on, earning a pout from Cleo.

"Maybe another day."

Hello my baby little fire balls!

This chapter is a mix of training session and settling Cleo in. Sorry if it's a bit boring for you but I need to put in the training session for the future . Anyway, I really like that Cleo is now in the storyline because she is so interesting. I hope you think that too.

Half term is upon us! It feels like its been so long since I've had a break from school! No homework! But I do have two massive tests to do after the half-term so I need to do revising.

Anyway, please remember to vote and comment for support on this book and also follow for updates on this book and all my others!

Bye!
