Chapter 14
Grace's POV
"I will now ask Decrin and Millic some questions. Please, can everyone remain silent while I do this." The judge reports to everyone, in a strict tone. She turns to the pair and takes a piece of paper into her hands.
"Decrin, what was your motivation for this?" The judge asks while Decrin shifts uncomfortably in the chair.
All eyes are on her and she knows it. "You must answer." The judge says after Decrin not answering for a while.
"I wanted to get revenge on the fairy world for taking away that girl's power. I believed that those powers wouldn't have destroyed the world and shouldn't have been destroyed." Decrin holds her head high, glancing at me when ever she mentions me.
"This girl that you talk is Grace Edwards am I correct?" The judge asks and Decrin nods her head. "Why did you kidnap so many fairies if you only wanted revenge on the people who took Grace's powers away?"
"You take away the powers of a girl who had done nothing wrong and I shall take away what you love. And you destroyed my house and took my most precious thing." Decrin argues looking desperate.
The judge looks down at her paper and then turns to Decrin's husband, Millic. "Millic, how do you come into this?"
"I would assist my wife in anything, even if that means breaking the law. I had the job of kidnapping the people who would serve us in the palace. That's the reason why people are more scared of me than they are Dec here." Millic smirks while Dec rolls her eyes. I feel Anna tense up beside me when he talks.
"Your dad is getting justice, Anna," I whisper to her and she looks at me and smiles.
"So are you saying that you did most of the work and Decrin just helped?"
"Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying." He replies and Decrin face palms beside him. I almost feel sorry for her that she has such a dumb husband. Almost.
"Right ok. Now Decrin, can you tell me about Emily, the girl you adopted/ kidnapped at a young age."
"I loved Emily. I still do. She was like a real daughter to me. Although I wasn't the best mother in the world, I tried to keep her happy. I kidnapped her from a family when she was only a few months old."
"And you looked after Emily for 12 years until she got taken back to her real family?" The judge asks and Decrin looks down towards her feet.
"Yes."
"Alright. Can we have the first witness please?" After she says this, a door opens and Amelia walks into the room.
She hasn't changed much in the four years. Her beautiful pink hair flows down her back with a few flowers in. Her pink eyes glisten with both excitement and fear as she scans the court room. She wears a puffy pink dress that has musical notes on the front with treble clefs and bass clefs.
"This is Amelia. She got kidnapped by Decrin when she was 8 and was the youngest fairy to get taken. The reasons to why she got kidnapped were because they wanted her mother but Amelia was the only person in the house at the time. Now Amelia. Tell us about the conditions in the place where you were held."
"Well, I wasn't in the palace for that long compared to others who had been there for years. But the conditions were horrible. We didn't get to eat much food and we had to stand for hours on end. If it wasn't for Emily......" She trails off, looking our way. This causes everyone's attention to turn to her.
"Did anyone in the castle ever meet Millic?" The judge asks Amelia and she shakes her head.
"Although we did see him occasionally when he was coming to see Decrin. We never talked to him and he never talked to us. Though we all knew what he was capable of so no one ever crossed him." Amelia explains and Millic smiles from the side of court room. I see Decrin elbow him in the side.
"Can you please explain what happened with you and Emily while you were at the palace?" The Judge asks and Emily and Amelia both look at each other. Amelia takes a while to get herself together before telling the story.
"Emily found me working a few days after I got kidnapped. She asked if I wanted to come to her room and play dolls and I obviously said yes because I didn't want to work anymore. When we were playing dolls, Decrin was trying to look for me but Emily hid me under her bed."
"Emily said that she'll help me escape from the palace and earn my freedom back. She got me outside and took me back to my house. But when we got there, people took Emily away and back to the palace again." Amelia looks sad as she remembering this.
The judge places her piece of paper that she was holding down. "You may go now. Can we have the next witness please?"
**********
The judge spent 2hrs questioning all the witnesses on what happened. Some people who I didn't even realise were at the palace when we fought Decrin and Millic showed up to be a witness.
Both mine and Emily's questionings went smoothly. They asked us both questions like, what happened during the fight, who was involved in the fight, etc.
Emily's questions were more directed at how she was treated when she was growing up with Decrin and Millic as parents.
It was quite intimidating up there when they're asking you questions. You have everyone's eyes on you, including the people who you are talking about. And the Jury is listening to everything you say, judging you if you're saying the correct things or not.
"Can I have the last witness up in the box please?" The judge asks and a girl steps out. I instantly recognise her as the girl from earlier, the one who gave me the flower.
Her long silver hair lays on her shoulders, covering parts of her face, making her looked closed in. Her eyes are an ocean blue showing nervousness as she looks around. She locks eyes with me and smiles then turns to the judge.
"This is Cleo. She was a baby when the fight happened. At that time, there was a group of babies who were tested on because their powers were not normal and have never been seen before. Decrin was wanting to put a stop to these tests and tried many times to take the babies away."
"Cleo has the power to change solids, liquids or gasses into anything. She got tested on when she was younger and Decrin tried to take her away so that she could be free. Cleo, what do you remember of the attempted kidnapping?"
" I don't remember much. I think Decrin picked me up from my cot in the nursery and tried to take me out but she got stopped." Cleo says.
"Yes, that did happen. What is your view on the tests? Do you agree with them?"
"No. They shouldn't be done. The only thing I remember clearly from my baby and toddler years was the amount of pain I had to go through every day so that people could find out if I was dangerous or not." Pain flashes across Cleo's face.
"If you could, would you put a stop to the testing?"
"In a heart beat." Although Cleo is only the same age as May, she acts so much older. I wonder what life she must've gone through to make her have to grow up so quickly.
"That is all. The jury now must decide if Decrin and Millic are guilty or not guilty. Please discuss now." The judge says.
The jury immediately starts talking while everyone else sits in silent. Cleo comes and sits behind us with people who I assume are her adoptive parents.
After a while, someone in the jury stands up. "We have decided that-"
"Wait! I need to say something to Grace!" Decrin suddenly shouts and the judge turns to me. "Please, I beg, listen!"
"Go ahead." The judge says and Decrin sighs with relief.
"Grace. Protect your sister from L. L is my brother and he is much worse than me. I heard what happened to Peter and that is down to L. Save May while you can! Don't take him for granted!" Decrin shouts at me and I take a sharp intake of breath.
"Are you done?" The judge asks Decrin and she nods her head. "Continue Jury."
"We have decided that Decrin and Millic are......guilty."

Hello, my baby little fire balls!
I hope everyone is having an amazing summer holiday so far and I know one person who is going back soon so good luck to them! I've had about 2 weeks of my holiday so far so I'm 1/3 done.
I did say I was going to take a 3-week break but I felt like I had to come back and give you this chapter because I was already halfway done anyway. Although, I can't promise that I will keep up with my writing schedule due to me being extremely busy.
Did you like the chapter? I want to involve Cleo more in the book I think. I'll let you know if she becomes a main character though ;)
Right then, I'll see you in two weeks then with another chapter! Make sure to comment and vote to give me support on this book and also follow me for updates on this book and my others!
Bye!
