Chapter 13

Grace's POV

"Right, have we got everything?" Mat asks the group as we stand beside a glimmering portal that leads to the fairy world. Everyone murmurs a yes and we await for the signal from Flora.

We stand in the living room in my house, about to go to the trial of Decrin and her husband. After finding May yesterday, we decided that we would meet up first thing the next morning to go to the trial.

"Grace? When will you be back?" May asks beside me, tugging on my shirt. I crouch down to her level and squeeze her into a hug.

"Don't worry. Just before dinner." I smile and then hear everyone start to leave. "Have fun." I get up and nod at Mat. "Ready?"

"After you." He gestures for me to go in first. I walk towards the portal, take one last look at May and then enter the Fairy world. It takes a while for my surroundings to become solid as I step out from the portal.

I take a look around and it's just like I remember it. Houses that are designed as mushrooms are lined up in rows like a mini street. Children and adult fairies fly everywhere, running errands, holding packages. "Ah, home sweet home!"

"It feels so weird to be back," Emily says, looking up towards the hill that once was Decrin's house. "Has anyone been in there since the incident?" She asks, obviously uncomfortable by seeing the building.

"Nope. Only you and the guards are allowed to go in. The guards refuse to go in without your permission." Flora informs her and she relaxes slightly. "Now, shall we go?" Flora asks us and we make our way towards the courtroom.

"Excited?" Anna asks me, linking her arm around mine. I raise my eyebrows at her. " I know, I know, it's a stupid question to ask but all our troubles may be gone in a flash after today!"

"I guess. We'll be getting justice for what happened to Emily and I. Hard day for Emily though." I look towards her and she looks down towards the floor, walking beside Mat.

"I know. My heart goes out to her." Anna whispers.

After a long time of walking, we finally arrive at the court. People crowd outside of the building, most of them being fairies. A few people line up outside, being held back behind a red rope, holding giant recording cameras.

A few people sit quietly on benches, twiddling their thumbs We walk towards the crowds and everyone goes silent at the sight of us. I lean in towards Anna. "I guess people haven't forgotten us yet," I whisper.

"Well, we did save the Fairy world from oblivion. I don't think they would forget a face like that. Anna says as one person steps forward.

She looks around the same age of May, with long silver hair and blue eyes. She holds a notebook in her hand.

She looks down at the notebook, covers her hands over it and shuts her eyes. Everyone watches her until a bright light shines from her hands. Then she lifts her hands and a flower appears. She hands it out to me.

"You saved everyone. Thank you." Her sweet voice fills her silence. I smile and take the flower. She runs back to her family and the talking comes back again and everyone returns to their conversations.

"Interesting. Well, lets going in." Flora skips past us towards the gigantic door of the court. We swiftly follow behind her and enter the massive building.

Inside, we get to a corridor. Guards stand outside two doors while a woman in a smart black dress messages someone on her phone. When she spots us, she puts her phone in a bag that rests on her should and makes her way to us.

"Flora darling, how lovely to see you!" The woman walks up to Flora and kisses her on the cheeks twice. "And you all look dashing." She gestures to all of us and then puts her attention back on Flora.

"Michelle, have you done your research? This is a hard case." Flora mentions and this 'Michelle' flips her black hair behind her.

"Flora I'm a solicitor, of course, I've done my research. You guys ready for the trial?" She asks. Everyone nods their heads while Emily shifts uncomfortably. Michelle notices this and smiles. "Sweetie, don't feel the need to say everything ok? They will be arrested if I'm fighting against them.

"I want to say as much as I can so that we can get justice," Emily speaks, not enjoying all the attention on her. Michelle nods and then turn around. She walks towards a guard that is standing in front of a door and has a few words with him.

After a while, she walks back to us and claps her hands together. "Right then! Follow me!" She smiles and we follow her as she marches in front of us. She gestures to the guard and he opens the door open for us.

We all walk in, one after the other. I'm the first one to go in after Michelle followed by Anna who seems very excited about all this. "Here we go!"

We enter a massive room that is lit up brightly. Seats are placed everywhere, including an elevated zone where the public can sit and watch the trial. At the front is where the Judge sits in his or hers cubicle and beside is where the person who is getting questioned sits.

Michelle leads us towards a seat section that is cornered off by red rope. She flashes her card at the guy that is guarding the roped bit and he lets us all pass. She takes us towards the seats and motions for us to sit down.

"This is where you will be seated for the whole trial until you are called up for questions. But you will be told the order that they want to question you in." Michelle tells us as she gets her phone out her bag.

"Thanks, Michelle." Flora smiles.

"The trial will start in a few minutes and everyone will come in. Don't be worried about the public. They love you and they're on your side. Amelia is being questioned first so she will come and sit with you when she's finished."

I almost forgot that Amelia will be joining us today. This must be a hard day for her as well. "Well, good luck guys and I will see you after the trial!" Michelle gives us a thumbs up and leaves.

Mat takes my hand beside me and squeezes it. "Their coming in." He says and our attention is drawn towards doors at the front of the room. It opens and Decrin and her husband appear in orange jumpsuits.

Decrins hair is standing up and she has not a single mark of make-up on. She looks like she hasn't got any hours of sleep and bags fall under her eyes. Her husband stands beside her, looking almost the same.

They sit down and the judge suddenly walks in. The woman judge sits down behind her desk and then looks around the court.

"The trial will now start."
