Chapter 12

Grace's POV

"May wait!" I cry, about to run after my younger sister when someone grabs onto my burn free hand, keeping me from moving.

"You can't. She needs some time alone. It seems like running away is in your genes." Flora mutters the last bit.

"But what if we can't find her?! She might run off the face of the earth for all we know!" I argue while Mat studies my burn on my wrist. It still brings pain to me and I grimace at the sight of it.

"She's a kid, she's not going to get that far. 1 out of 4 Penels run away during their first training session. I've just got unlucky that 2 of my trainees have." She comments and I glare at Flora.

I guess I understand what May is doing. And I didn't want to be found when I got my powers either.

"Fine. But the minute I think that she's had enough time on her own, we go." I slump down to the ground, cradling my wrist still. Flora sees this and walks over to me and sits beside me.

" I still don't understand why we need to train May. It's not like she's going to be doing any fighting." The whole group thinks for a moment and I can already tell what their replies are going to be. But I wait for them to answer anyway.

"The Penel world is a dangerous place. Each Penel has to know how to use their powers in defense and attack. In May's case, this would mean protecting herself from L." Anna tells me, who knows more about Penels than I do.

Flora picks up my wrist and places her palm on the place where she burnt me. She closes her eyes and a white light comes from her hand. I gradually feel the pain go away and the redness of my skin turn back into normal colour. She lets go and my wrist is as good as new.

"I need to discuss something with all of you. After, we will go find May. This includes Emily more than anyone." Emily perks up at the mention of her name while Mat looks cautious.

"Why? Is something wrong?" Emily says, worryingly. Her panicked face makes my heart melt. She hasn't had the greatest childhood so she doesn't come out her shell a lot and gets worried by the smallest of things.

"Decrins and her husband's-" Flora gets interrupted by a growl coming from Anna. Flora chooses to ignore it and continues. "Their trial will be tomorrow. All of you have been invited to go and be a part of the witnesses and make statements. The witnesses would include all of us, the guards that worked with Decrin and Amelia for some reason."

"You mean we have to see those criminals again." Mat fumes and Emily tries to calm down her angry brother. She places her hand on his shoulder and he sighs. "If it means getting them arrested, I'm in."

"I'm in too. I want to talk to them and possibly attack that demon." Anna says. I know she's not talking about ambushing Decrin. She continues to growl.

"I'll come but I'm only coming to find more information about L. Decrin might know more about him," I say and now it's down to Emily. She shuffles uncomfortably, not enjoying the attention on her.

"I want to see her. But I don't want to talk much." She mumbles quietly.

"That's up to the Court. Out of everyone who is a witness, you would know Decrin the most so I would suspect they would make you talk the majority of the time. But you can stop whenever you want to but it would increase more of a chance of them getting arrested if you talk more."

"So we've all agreed. Tomorrow we'll meet at Grace's house at 11:00. Though I don't think we should bring May. She might get overwhelmed with everything going on." Flora says and I agree with her. We don't know what could happen if May came as well.

"Alright. Shall we go find this sister of yours?"

                                    *********

I run through the bustling streets of my hometown, my breathing rushed.

The group has been searching for the past hour for May, each one of us taking different parts of the town. I've been going through the places where she might've gone. Right now I'm going to my final thought of where she could be.

I feel a buzzing feeling coming from my phone and I hold it against my ear. "Where are you going now?" Mat voice fills my head and I feel semi-relaxed. His voice always makes me calm.

"The hospital. She might be with Peter. If not then we'll have to call the police." I say, hoping that it wouldn't come to that. I breathe heavily, still running. I get some looks from people who are in their cars but ignore them.

"Don't worry, we'll find her. She's old enough to look after herself." He reassures me. "Right, I've got to go, I have to look through her school. If I can get in that is." I finish the phone call.

I get to the Hospital and make my way towards the front desk. I recognise the woman from the last time I visited Peter, the woman who couldn't be bothered with me.

"Excuse me, can I have the keys to Peter Edwards' room?" I ask the woman and she glares at me and heaves a long sigh.

"There's already a girl in the room with him. Will people stop coming to me for un-needed things!" She throws her hands up in the air and I glare at her and walk towards the lift that takes you to the floor that Peter's on.

I step into the elevator and wait for it to go up. It reaches the floor I want and I speed walk out the elevator and then make my way towards the room.

I stop at the door and think what to do if May was there. She might be crying or she might be talking to Peter.

I open the door slowly and find May sitting beside Peters bed. But she has her back to me and hasn't moved so she didn't hear me come in. "I'm scared, Peter. I'm scared about what might happen in the future."

"I can't deal with these new powers that I have. It's too much for a little 8-year-old. I haven't done anything to this L character but he seems to hate me. He's making me go through hell when I sleep or faint."

May sighs and places a hand on Peters' face. I watch her close her eyes. After a while, she opens then but looks upset when nothing has happened. "I'm sorry! I can't wake you up! I'm not strong enough!" She cries and I decide to intervene.

"May, even a fairy like Flora won't  be strong enough to wake up a person in a coma. Don't feel like it's your job to heal him." I say and May keeps her hand on Peter. I walk over to her and crouch down so that I'm at her level.

"But I want to be able to heal him." She mumbles, tears flowing down her face.

"Maybe you will be able to when you get older. You have a connection with Peter that no one else that has healing powers has. It takes ages to get to that point."

"But I might be able to heal him soon?" She asks and I pause for a moment.

"Yes. Soon." I say and a smile emerges on her face. We both look at Peter who is sleeping soundly in his hospital bed.

**********************************************************************

Hello my baby fireballs! I hope you guys are all having a good weekend!

Took me longer than I thought to write this chapter but I think I left it at a good place. What did you guys think of the chapter? It was mostly based on trying to find May but also talking about what will be happening in the next chapter. Quite excited to write that!

I'm getting busier and busier. I have so many things going on so if I end up not posting a chapter then I really do apologise. Though I don't think I have much going on this week just a concert in front of a primary school.

Well, I will see you in two weeks with hopefully another chapter of Powers Colliding. Remember to Comment and Vote to support my book and Follow for more updates!

Bye!
