Rogue Kitty
It took a while to get back to the story, but here's another chapter.
Chapter Four: Rogue Kitty
Rogue was the first to approach Kitty at her own insistence. If Kitty still was hanging on to her personality then she would be the best to deal with her.
"Kitty!" Rogue called out. She kept a good distance from her, remembering how paranoid she was at first to be around people. "Are you okay?"
Kitty stopped punching the bag for a moment and looked over at Rogue. She jerked back as Rogue tried to come close.
"No!" She shouted out at her, while outstretching her arms in a defensive stance. She appeared to be confused looking around the room frantically. "Shut up!" she shouted and punched the bag again. It went flying out its mound and slammed into the far wall.
"Kitty, ya gotta stay calm," Rogue said and tried to come close to her. Kitty flinched back trying to keep Rogue at a distance. "Don't worry. Ah ain't gonna touch ya."
"You have to stay away or ah'll hurt ya," Kitty cried out in Rogue's usual southern drawl.
"Kitty, look at me and remember who ya are," Rogue said, grasping both of her arms. They were bare, but Rogue was wearing a pair of her black gloves to avoid direct contact.
"No, stay away," Kitty shouted and broke free of Rogue.
She used Sam's powers and created a barrier around herself but the it came in the direction of Rogue. On instinct, she phased her body and the shot went through her heading directly at Jean but the red-head raised her arms in front of her deflecting the attack away from her and instead hitting the side wall of the gymnasium.
Kitty shot straight up the ceiling going half way through before teleporting away in a puff of smoke. Debris fell from the ceiling as Rogue phased again and ran towards Jean grabbing her arm to shield her from the falling rubble. They escaped the gym in a matter of moments.
Jean was coughing from the dust as Rogue was trying to catch her breath. "Are ya alright?" she asked in between breaths.
"Yeah," she said, still coughing, "but we have to find Kitty." Rogue nodded, thinking about where Kitty might have gone. Jean concentrated, using her telepathic abilities. "Rogue, I can't find her. Her mind is so jumbled theres' no way to get a fix on her.
"Oh, man, this isn't good," Rogue said thinking back to the first time her powers manifested. She didn't need the power of telepathy to know that Kitty was terrified.
"Do you have a clue about where she could be?" Jean asked.
Rogue thought a moment, then an idea popped into her head. "The cliffs," Rogue said, and Jean looked confused by her words. "It's where I go when ah'm upset."
"It's a good place to start," Jean said and took Rogue's hand as they raced down the hall. "That's if she thinks she's still you."
"Hopefully she does," Rogue said as they used the back entrance, but something told her that finding Kitty wasn't going to be that easy.
Thanks for reading, and leave a comment or a vote if you liked it. In the next chapter Jean and Rogue go on a quest to find Kitty, but everyplace they go they arrive a little too late. Will they find her before real trouble breaks out? Be here next time to find out.
