Chapter Two: I Got Yours, You Got Mine

Rogue woke early the next morning feeling a little strange, not much like herself. She turned over in bed and looked at the clock to see it was 6:30 in the morning. She groaned and turned over in bed, but suddenly she felt herself falling and tried to grab onto the bedpost, but for some reason her hand wouldn't grip the wood, and she fell right through the door.

"Help!" she screamed. She stopped falling after a few seconds but found herself stuck in the floor and couldn't lift herself out. "What the hell!" She screamed out which barely woke Kitty up. Her roommate yawned then looked over to see her struggling to free herself.

"Rogue! What's happened?" Kitty looked on in shock. She remembered the same thing happened to her when she was still learning to control her power, but why was this happening to Rogue.

She jumped out of bed and ran over to help her roommate to try and help her. She grabbed onto her arm and tried to phase her out of it but for some reason her power wasn't working. This is so weird, she thought and tried to pulled Rogue out of the floor. Then something unexpected happened. Her skin barely touched Rogue and suddenly she absorbed Rogue's psyche. She jumped back as they saw images of Rogue as a little girl living in Mississippi with her aunt Irene, and then the night her powers manifested and the fear she felt and even last night when she was with Remy. Kitty felt and saw it all. She was so overwhelmed that she couldn't think straight. It was as if she was no longer Kitty. She was Rogue.

She tried hard to keep her focus and grabbed the sheet off Rogue's bed and wrapped it around her hands and lower arms. She saw that Rogue was out cold and grabbed hold of her arm and pulled her out of the floor. It worked that time, but she still felt Rogue in her mind.

The hold was fading slowly, and she sat on the floor hoping she would wake up from this nightmare soon. After about ten minutes she heard groans coming from her best friend and saw that she was waking up.

Rogue's psyche was fading but still there. Kitty was still freaked out, but she was more concerned about her friend. Rogue opened her eyes and saw that Kitty was staring at her.

"What happened?" Rogue asked and looked around. "How did ah get out of the floor?"

"I pulled you out," Kitty said, still trying to hold back the Rogue psyche. "The question is, how did you get into the floor in the first place?"

"Ah think fell through the bed and ah just got stuck," Rogue said and couldn't believe her own words as she was saying them.

"How did you do that?" Kitty asked.

"Ah don't know," Rogue said and thought to the night before. She had wished she had Kitty's powers, but it would never happen. "Let's forget about it and go get ready for mornin' trainin'."

"Fine, it was probably some weird dream anyway," Kitty said and stumped off to her closet to get her uniform. Rogue left the room to go take her morning shower. She tried to forget about the weird happenings for that morning and go on with her day.

Once she was out of shower she attempted to dry her hair but her mind kept going back to how she got stuck in the floor. A tried to pick up the hairdryer but her hand went right through it.

Ah wish I had your power. Those words echoed through her ears. "Oh, shit!" she said and put on her robe. "Okay, ah'm gonna prove it didn't happen."

She ran towards the door hoping to crash into it, but for some reason she ran right through it. Her momentum not only carried her through the door but through the hallway, until she crashed into Jubilee and Amara who were walking down the hall. All three girls screamed as they hit the floor.

"Rogue, why did you do that?" Jubilee shouted.

"Yeah, you could have killed us," Amara added and she noticed that her arm was touching Amara's leg and nothing was happening.

"Ah, uhh... ah have to go find Kitty," Rogue said and ran off down the hall. She went back to her room only to find it empty. She quickly changed into her uniform and left the room. She needed to find Kitty before she did something stupid. As soon as she reached the staircase she heard a scream, one she recognized. "Kitty."

She ran down the stairs to see Kitty screaming and holding her head, and there on the floor lay an unconscious Sam and Kurt.

It was true. "Well, I have yours and you have mine," she said in a quiet voice. She had no idea how it happened but somehow she and Kitty had switched powers.
