i don't feel very human anymore
IT WAS NIGH-TIME, and Hope was home all alone. Melissa was working a late shift and Scott was off probably hanging out with Isaac seeing as the curly haired boy was saying for good this time.
She decided to eat a late night snack and entered the kitchen, and flipped on the light which illuminated the small area. She sighed and tippy toed to opened up one of the top cabinets to pull out s container of lucky charms.
She sat the container on the table and walked towards the refrigerator, and pulled out the half gallon of milk. And as she turned around to place it on the table by the cereal, everything suddenly turned black and she felt herself fall. The sound of the gallon breaking and milk spilling everywhere was the last thing she heard before she suddenly gasped, sitting up to find herself in a dark enclosed space.
All of a sudden, a dozen or more people in black robes surrounded her, and they were mumbling and chanting. And with each chant, they got closer and closer to her, making her feel suffocated.
She tried to pinpoint the language or the words that were being used, but she was too busy gasping for air and clutching her chest to be able to do anything else. It was like they were sucking the life right from her like a vacuum. She could feel every ounce of energy she had just slip away.
Hops felt the panic begin like a cluster of spark plugs in her abdomen. Tension grew in her face and limbs, her mind replaying the last attack. Her breathing became more rapid, more shallow.
"Help!" She gasped for air, but no answer. "Help!" Once again, no one else was in sight other than the witches - ancestors - that surrounded her in the dark. Her began racing faster and her breathing shallowed even more.
In seconds, she was curled tight in her bed, her only movement the trembling of her limbs and salty tears darkening her sleeves.
"Help," she simply murmured, closing her eyes harshly.
Suddenly, everything went quiet and she slowly opened her eyes to see all the witches just staring at her in silence.
Then, all at once, they shouted, "abomination!"
Hope gasped awake, finding herself sprawled out on the kitchen floor, milk surrounded her like an island. She clutched her chest, gasping for air. Her heart was pounding harshly against her rib cage, as if it was trying to escape from it's only home.
She quickly grabbed the home phone from the counter and scrambled to the corner of the kitchen, tears falling from her eyes. She shakily dialed a number and pressed the phone to her ear, sniffling. She was trying to gather herself, but she's barley been sleeping for the past few weeks which left her mind vulnerable, probably allowing those witches to enter her mind-space like that.
"Hope? Are you okay?"
She sucked in a shaky breath and whispered, "Stiles... I need you."
And that was the only thing that had Stiles quickly moving and racing to her house in under ten minutes.
When he bursted into the house, he quickly ran up the stairs, into her room, searching all over the place, beginning to panic when he didn't see her blonde hair anywhere. He even searched all the bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs before racing back downstairs where he paused upon hearing her cry.
"Hope, where are you?" He called out gently and when he heard sniffles in the kitchen, he made his way into the room, and paused upon seeing her shaking form in the corner, hidden in the dark. "What happened?!" He ran into the room, and was quick to grab only the table when he slipped on something wet. He looked down and furrowed his eyebrows upon seeing spilt milk. "Are you okay?" He whispered as he slowly approached her.
Right when he bent down, she launched herself at him, crying loudly. He shushed her, whole cradling her head to his chest, and his other hand wrapped around her waist protectively.
And he held her like that until Melissa came home from work.
