A/N: So this chapter is a little shorter than usual, being 1460 words instead of the 2000 I aim for but I wanted to get it out on time instead. Plus i got lost in my train of thought so things may be weird in this one xD

Previously, on Lost Runes...

"Max, what the hell did you do?!"

"I don't know! I thought elevators that have green buttons normally open the door!"

"What do you mean?! Green means go!"

The group had no choice than to wait til the lift stopped to see where this adventure would take them, not realising that the next few minutes would change the rest of their lives forever... most classical ending of a first chapter everrrrrr....

The sound of a fist frustratingly bashing upon metal was the only sound loud enough to be heard throughout the spacecraft that early morning.

"It's been too long without the crystals now! UNATHAUL! COME HERE!!" Xyrathaul yelled from his commando chair at the mission control centre. A minute later an alien-looking goose comes through the metal doors, skipping across like they were playing hopscotch. "Yes, daddy Xyree?" She said sweetly to her father, looking at him with a gleeful grin. Xyrathaul internally groaned at the nickname. He wonders where he found the goose and why he thought it might be a good idea to adopt it.

"Do you think you could be a dear and find the location of those missing crystals for me?" Una grinned sadistically.

"Anything to please my dear ol' dad! A box of missing shiny rocks, here I come!" She skips away with the intent on killing anything that comes between her and pleasing her daddy Xyree.

"Guys! Finley's not waking up!"

"Neither is Yuno!"

Max tries shaking his friend awake while Nickie and Eli attempt to wake up Fin, both of whom were lying among the wooden rubble of the broken elevator. Everyone has a few cuts, a few small bruises, nothing too serious. "I don't think we're going to wake them up anytime soon." Nickie says as she falls back onto her back, giving up on waking up her unconscious friend.

"What is this place?" Max blurts out loud as he looks around the cavern that the group have fallen into. Only one light source lights up the room, a lantern hanging from the ceiling above. Everything is either a stone wall or a wooden root, probably from the tree they have just fallen down. A table sits in the middle of the room, looking old and rustic like it hasn't been used in decades. Covering the table are stacks of books, a few even had cobwebs attached to them. Scattering the walls are drawings, hieroglyphic-like symbols that look to form sentences.

ACK-BLU

A sneeze coming from around one of walls startles the group, not expecting anyone else to be in the cavern with them. "The hell was that?!" Nickie whisper-yells as she backs away slowly, closer to her totally-sleeping friend. A shadow dances across the walls, coming closer to the five as they get into a defensive position.

Two brown-ish horns poke out from around the corner, followed by a lock of light-brown hair and black eyes, looking like a confused kitten. It slowly shows the top of its body, looking just as shocked as the others are to see other people in the cave. It has antlers like an antelope, face like a cat, pointy elf-like ears, claws like a tiger, and two big black eyes, staring at the group like you just spoke another language to it.

No one says anything, too shocked about the new discovery that they have just made. Until...

"What are you?" Eli wonders as he gets up and slowly walks towards the creature, instantly backing away when it ducks behind the table. "Woah."

"Hey, we aren't here to hurt you. We just fell down this hole." Nickie also stands up and tries to walk towards it, this time backing away as it grabs a stick from its belt and points at the group. "Stay back!" It yells as it makes its way around the group, showing the rest of its body to the group. Lion legs and a pointed tail, red cloth on his belt with black shorts. White stripes covering its body.

"Look. We aren't going to have a stand-off with you all day. We have two unconscious friends over here and we need to wake them up." Max turns to walk away from the creature before he blinks and said creature is standing in front of him with a bottle of blue liquid. "Them, drink this." Everyone had a sceptical face before the creature rolls his eyes and blinks over to the sleeping friends, dropping a small drop into both their mouths.

"What was that?"

"Awakening!" Before anyone can question it, Yuno and Finley take the biggest breath of their lives as they sit up quickly, scaring the living crap out of the other 3. The two look around, confused as hell, examining the room before locking their eyes onto the 4 above them.

"Owww that hurt..." Finley whines as they put a hand on their head, rubbing it lightly.

"Okay?" The two jump when the creature spoke, tilting its head towards the two sitting on the stone floor. Out of shock they back away a little from the mysterious living being in front of them, making the creature frown. "I no threat..." It blinks back over to its original place, hiding away behind the table with only its head poking up.

"Neither are we. We just fell from the hole above after getting away from an earthquake." The creature's ears perk up after they mentioned earthquake, then they twitch again as it remembers the crystals. "Crystals!" It runs back into the room it first came from. After a moment or two, it runs back into the main room with 5 coloured crystals. "Crystals!" The others look at the crystals in shock; it was the crystals they originally came here to find.

"Our crystals!"

The creature looks confused; their crystals? But the Philias-crystals do not belong to anybody... The others would say otherwise when all of them watch the shiny gemstones float into the air and each one flew to a different person; Yuno got blue, Finley got green, Eli got red, Max got black and Nickie got purple. The creature's eyes follow as the crystals leave its hands, mind blanking from the events that have unfolded. "Rangers..." It whispers, gaining the attention of the 5 young adults.

"Rangers? What does that mean?"

They watch as the creature runs into a different room, looking to be a storage room or something like it, before coming back with a large rock in his hand. It places the stone on the table with a 'thud'. He waves his hands towards the others, motioning them to come have a closer look. They are soon all gathered around the table in the middle of this spacious cave, looking at what appears to be a normal rock.

The creature points at the rock. "Prophecy."

Yuno rubs a hand on his head, looking towards the creature with a puzzled look. "What prophecy and how can a rock tell you that?"

It gives the brunette a blank stare before lifting his paws above the rock, silently whispering a chant of some sorts. "Apaala Meiospa" After it had clapped its hands, the large stone cracks down the middle, breaking in half and revealing a scroll in the middle. The creature picks up the rock pieces before placing them on the ground. It then unravels the scroll to reveal weird-looking images and encrypted text. "Prophecy!"

"What language is this?"

"It's called Arcutaise. It's the main language of the Acurteans on the planet Acurtoplis." Everyone looks towards Eli as if he just grew an extra head, causing the other to roll his head. "It's a graphic novel called 'Lost Runes' where an alien-creature, who is an Acurtean, is chased down by evil aliens called Hathalians. Its chased to Earth with a box of crystals and goes into hiding until 5 humans come to the rescue, beginning their journey as the saviours of the Earth; power rangers- wait are you that Acurtean?!"

The creature smiles and nods quickly, pointing a claw at itself. "I is Calic!"

"Well I guess that makes us the 5 humans who come to your rescue! I'm Nickie, the green one is Finley, the blue one is Yuno, the red is Eli and black is Max."

"Wait. If this is all like the novel, are we all gonna be power rangers?"

Calic thinks for a bit, pointing towards the group. "You..." then points towards a picture on the scroll, showing 5 human adults in different coloured outfits. "Power Rangers." Somehow he makes a thumbs up with his claw, grinning at the 5. "Yes!" This sparks up quiet discussions between the group, mixed emotions coming from them.

"Hey Eli." Max called out, looking towards his friend.

"Yeah?"

"What exactly is a Hathalian?"

A/N: If you couldn't tell; chapters for this book are currently monthly until I can get more motivation and ideas xD. They will be uploaded on the 8th of every month (8th for me cause I'm in New Zealand, 8th for some others)
