Samantha (Sam) Alexandra Wood
Emma Quinn Golding
Grace Eloise Cherry

It is mandatory for each squadron member to document meals, outings, personal thoughts on the on goings of the mission, and important events that occur while it is their turn to write. If anything is not disclosed in the Journal, the squadron will be tried for treason.---

I have spent almost 20 minutes now trying to come up with a way to start this that doesn't sound too formal or too casual or too awkward, so we're just going to pretend that I said something delightfully humorous but also professional and dive right in.
We were told to give a brief description of what our mission is to begin. Well, I don't really know why we need to do that considering the only people reading this will be government officials who know exactly what our mission is, but whatever.
I'm Sam Wood. I'm 21 years old and I was born with the ability to run fast. Like, fast. My PR is 79 mph. Well, when my parents found out that I'm basically a superhero, they decided sending me off to a boarding school for "gifted" people like me would be best. Except that boarding school didn't just teach us high school stuff..it also taught us how to use our abilities to fight and stuff like that. Long story short, I ended up here in a government organization designed to match people with abilities together and send them off to go fight crime. We're basically the Avengers. NBD.
Ignore my bragginess. I've been training to be put in a squadron since I was 6 years old so this is a little bit huge for me. Anyway, this is our first mission as a squadron, so it's not really anything major. There's a science research lab somewhere in Colorado that is apparently going through its rebellious teenager phase and has been keeping files from the U.S. government. We're being sent in to stop them and get them to start working with 'Murca again. Ok, forget I said 'Murca. I regret that already.
So yeah. I'm writing this on the plane as we fly out from the base in Boston, MA to Denver, CO. This is the first time I've ever been on a plane. They are loud and smell bad.
My squadron-mates seem pretty cool for the most part. Grace was the first one to approach me. She was amazingly awkward, but it was honestly kind of endearing. She ran right up to me, curly blonde hair bouncing, and said, "Hi! My name's Grace. What's yours? Ooh, let me guess! Um..S-s-sam? Sam? Really? I actually guessed your name?! Wow, I'm so proud of myself now! I feel accomplished! Hey Emma, guess what I just did!" She then ran over to Emma, who has telepathy, and bragged about how she read my mind. Needless to say, it was an interesting way to start off the mission.
Grace's ability is healing. I haven't talked to her about it much, but from what I understand it's not as simple as a touch-and-heal deal (heh, that rhymes). I think it involves putting her blood on the wound and sewing together skin fibers with her mind. It sounded kinda gross, so I didn't inquire too much about it.
Emma seems pretty nice, but not nearly as outgoing as Grace. When I talked to her she made at least 800 references to movies, TV shows, music, even Broadway plays. This will be an interesting few weeks.
Like I said, Emma is telepathic. I think she can basically choose to go into people's heads and see what they're thinking about, but only what they're thinking about in that moment. Like, if I started thinking about chocolate and she read my mind, she would just see chocolate, not any other brain info. I also think she sees images for the most part, but she said that if she focuses really hard she can maintain short mental conversations with people.
Alex is...scary. That's the only way I can describe her. When I talked to her, a fly landed on her hand and she told it in detail how she was going to eat its friends and make its children watch. She then proceeded to rip its wings and legs off before finally smashing it to a gooey pulp...I will not be sharing a room with her on this mission. Anyway, Alex has intangibility, which means she can choose to just walk through solid surfaces and stuff.
We still have about 3 and half hours of this plane ride left, and I'm bored out of my skull. I don't think I've ever been sitting down for this long of a time, except when I'm sleeping, and even then I've been told I sleepwalk. So, to try to pass the time, I'm going to interview my squadron-mates so I can get to know them a little better. I mean, we're gonna be stuck in the mountains for quite a while - we might as well at least try to become friends.
Favorite movie:
Me- The Avengers (lol)
Grace- Finding Nemo (wow)
Emma- The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall: 25th Anniversary Special Edition (she started singing when I asked)
Alex- Saw (wtf)
Favorite animal:
Me- snow leopard
Grace- all of them, except mosquitoes
Emma- cows (because they taste good)
Alex- poison dart frog (because just like her, if you touch them you will die)
Favorite pastime:
Me- drawing
Grace- Irish dancing
Emma- eating
Alex- frying bugs with a magnifying glass
Well, that was revealing. I don't feel any more comfortable around Alex, that's for sure. At least she's on my side..???
So..that's it for this entry. I won't document meals since the mission hasn't even started yet. Thanks for reading I guess. I'll write again at the camp in CO tomorrow night.
