Let's Continue!!

Third person's POV

After dinner

Everyone had just finished eating . Ginny get's up to take the plates to the sink and as she picks up Harry's, Mavis quickly rouses from her seat and pick's up her's , James' and Teddy's , surprising the others with her sudden action.
"Let me help , Ginny" Mavis states casually , starting to walk towards the kitchen.

"No it's alright , Mavis. You're our guest-" Ginny gets cut off.

"But you yourself said that I am now "part of the potters" . So I am assisting you and that's final" Mavis retorts smiling cheekily .

Harry , James and Teddy stifle their laughter . Ginny chuckles. "Alright then , Mavis" she says and both head into the kitchen.

Meanwhile Harry , James and Teddy head to the living room and chat.

"So James, what did you do to get her to go out with you?" Teddy asks after some casual conversation. Harry looks at James waiting for an answer.

James laughs nervously and scratches the back of his neck .
"Well, in the beginning she hated my guts....." he began

James' POV

~flashback~

It has been weeks since Mavis had pranked me . Now everyone at Hogwarts knows about it . But I don't care about that. My usual self would , and would be embarrassed about it and feel like his reputation was gone. But me , no. All I can think about is Mavis Black. Her beautiful blue eyes...... her long dark hair....... her charming face . I sighed.

"You are freaking me out these days , James" Fred , who was sitting on his bed in our dorm , says "What's wrong? You haven't talked to me much either and we haven't pranked in a while!"

"Nothing is wrong , Fred , it is quite the contrary." I state simply.

"Uhh, why are you talking like Dumbledore, James?" Fred asks cocking his head to the side with a confused look.

"I am in love, Freddy.." I finally tell him, but I should have chosen another time to tell . I told him just as he was drinking water. He choked on it .

"W-Wha-t? Yo-You are in l-love?!" Fred splutters "With w-who?"

I sigh again remembering her."Mavis Black."

"Typical. You fell for the girl that pranked you." Fred laughs.

"She was getting revenge actually. We pranked the people in her dorm the day before. I did some research" I say remembering the information I got from Stacy . "Stacy told me"

"Uh-oh. What did you tell/give her in return? She is rumpelstiltskin in these stuff" Fred tells e with a worried look. I laugh at him calling her rumpelstiltskin.

"I told her that I liked Mavis . It was juicy enough for her, honestly"I shrug.

"Anyway, why don't you ask Mavis out , then?" Fred questions

"She doesn't like me" I state, sadly.

"Get her to like you then. Simple" Fred says with a triumphant smirk at his advice.

"Hmm that is good idea! Thanks Fred" I say thinking how to do so.

~End of flashback~

"And I tried to make her like me for two years. I gave up in the middle of sixth year." I continue after I told dad and Teddy about how Fred advised me . I look at dad and Teddy to see them listening intently. Mum is probably listening through her and dad's connection.. I continue.

"Then I started being her friend from then on. Like helping her , no flirting , being funny and other stuff. In seventh year , when I became head boy , she was head girl. I was being a good friend but I still had feelings for her ." I pause

"And then?" Dad asks. The suspense is probably killing him.

"And then, at the end of seventh year in April,...

~Flashback~ (sorry for so many flashbacks)

I know I have given up on Mavis but I still have feelings for her . And both of us being head boy and girl doesn't help me to get over her . Right now I am walking near the black lake to get my mind off things . I sigh. Should I try one more time ? Should I ask her out one last time ? We probably won't see each other after Hogwarts.... what have I got to lose...... OUR FRIENDSHIP . I treasure Mavis' friendship so I don't want to ruin it .

As I am walking I see Mavis sitting near the black lake with a distant look on her face . She looks like she is in deep thought...

I walk upto her. "Hey Mav!" I say cheerfully . She was surprised to see me but recovered quickly

. "Hey James. What brings you here ?" She asks patting the place beside her signalling me to sit.

"Just walking around and clearing my mind. You?"I say simply.

"Just came here to chill for a while. With exams over and all" she replies.

We sit there for a while in comfortable silence , enjoying the surroundings. But Mavis seems to be in deep thought...

I notice her taking a deep breath . "James?" She says my name. "Yeah?"

"Will you go out on a date with me ?" She asked looking at me straight in the eye.

I was caught off guard. I was NOT expecting that. I was so shocked that I could say nothing. She sighed , "I get it" she says , sadness evident in her voice . She slowly leaves .

I just stay there processing what had just happened. I MESSED UP!!! I quickly got up and ran after her.

"MAVIS!!" I shout running after her , thankfully she didn't go far yet. She turns around . I take out my wand from my pocket and produce a rose from it non-verbally . I finally reach her . I pant a little , then hold up the rose for her to take it.

"I will" I say smiling at her . She smiles widely , her excitement visible on her features . She takes the rose from my hand and grins at me. Then suddenly she jumps at me and kisses me. I was shocked but kiss back anyway, while wrapping my arms around her and twirling her around. We pull apart.

"I don't think a date is necessary for us o share out feelings" I joke . She giggles and kisses me again.

~End of Flashback~

" ...and that's how we started going out . We officially became a couple after two weeks full of dates" I conclude to my dad and Teddy. I think about how she asked me out , so straight forward .... she's always like that another thing I love about her . "But I wonder when Mavis started having feelings for me?" I think out loud. I never asked her that question.

"Starting of seventh year" I hear a voice say. I recognise it as Mavis'. She and mom had come into the living room while I was telling the story . Mavis and I smile at each other.
She looks at her wristwatch and her eyes widen.

"Merlin, it is already 9:30! I have to go back by ten." She says hurriedly.

"Have some dessert first and then go , dear" mum tells her putting a hand on her shoulder. Mavis smiles and nods "Okay" she says happily. Mum pulled out her wand and brought out the mini Chocolate Mousse Cake she made that evening.

I've been waiting all evening to have that. Mum brought out the plates and all of us started taking a piece of he cake . Albus and Lily would have missed this cake. I smirked. We all ate having small talks .Mavis had just finished hers.

"Mavis , would you like to have one more ?" Mum asks her , smiling. She loves to feed the guests that come to our house but not as much as grandma Molly does . I chuckle silently at the thought.

"No , Ginny, it was very tasty but I am fu-" she couldn't finish her sentence as I stuffed a piece of my cake into her mouth. The rest of us laughed as she folded her hands and looked at me angrily. But what made it more funny was that , she was chewing on the cake the I stuffed into her mouth.

She swallowed. Uh oh. I quickly stuff another piece into her mouth to escape her wrath.
Before I could take another piece with my spoon ...

"James..." She says loudly narrowing her eyes a me . "Y-Yes? Oh you want another piece ? Don't worry, I will- " I get cut off as she shoves the cake on my plate into my mouth. She smirks triumphantly. "Fine fine you win" I say defeatedly after swallowing what was in my mouth.

"Now I gotta go. Bye Ginny , Teddy and Harry" she says hugging each of them. She gets used to her surroundings REALLY FAST , I think , little bit surprised. She comes towards me and kisses me on the cheek. "Bye James" she smiles "Bye Mavis. I'll write to you soon or maybe text you" I reply smiling at her.

I walk her out of the door. My parents and Teddy were inside and we were outside . So I grab Mavis' arm and pull her into a kiss. "Now it is bye" I tell her pulling apart . She smiles , moves a little away from me and disapparates.
