The Point of No Return

*Christine's POV*
"No thoughts within her head, but thoughts of joy," I sing as I walk onto stage. "No dreams within her heart, but dreams of love." I then sit down on stage with my basket and wait for Piangi to sing his lines.

"Passarino, go away for the trap; it is set and wait for its prey," I hear a voice sing, as I play with a black ribbon tied at the end of rose in the basket. "You have come here in pursuit of your deepest urge. In pursuit of that wish which till now has been silent."

"That's doesn't sound like Piangi," I think. I turn my head and recognize the man to be the Phantom. He is wearing a black suit, cape, and mask, which is the outfit of Don Juan. "He's playing Don Juan," I think worriedly.

"Silent," Erik sings as he brings a finger up to his lips, signalling me to not say anything. "I have brought you that our passions may fuse and merge." His voice sounds heavenly when he sings, so I close my eyes to savor the moment as he sings. "In your mind you've already succumb to me, dropped all defenses, completely succumb to me. Now you are here with me. No second thoughts; you've decided. Decided."

I smile as I stand up, never taking my eyes off him. He looks incredibly handsome in the Don Juan costume, the only thing I wish was different is the mask he is wearing. I prefer his white mask over the black one, but the black one matches better with the costume and if he wore the white one, people would have recognized him.

"Past the point of no return," he sings walking towards me. "No backward glances. Our games of make believe are at an end." I hear the dancers come out, but I don't look at them, I only look at Erik as he walks closer to me. I feel my heart begin to beat faster with every step he takes towards me. "Past all thought of "if" or "when". No use resisting. Abandon thought and let the dream descend."

I watch as Erik goes behind me and put an arm around my chest and pull me close to him. I feel my breath hitch and eyes close, enjoying the feeling of his skin on mine. I can't help but feel a sense of desire course through my body as he continues to sing. "What raging fire shall flood the soul," I hear Erik sing as I lean back further into his touch. "What rich desire unlocks its door? What sweet seduction lies before us?"

"Past the point of no return," Erik continues singing as he backs away from me while holding one of my hands, our eyes locked in a gaze full of emotions. "The final threshold." I suddenly snap out of the trance, pull my hand away and breaking eye contact; I need to be ready for my part, even though I enjoyed it, I can't be under one of Erik's singing spells. "What warm unspoken secrets will we learn, beyond the point of no return?"

*Erik's POV*

I continue looking at Christine, never breaking eye contact until she suddenly looks away and pulls her hand away. I feel a little hurt that she did that, but I can't let it show. "Beyond the point of no return," I finish singing my line and wait to hear Christine sing the part I wrote specifically for her.

"You have brought me," Christine starts in her angelic voice. "To that moment when words run dry. To that moment when speech disappears into silence. Silence." I notice her look up at Box 5 and also look up, only to see that fop, Raoul, sitting there. He looks over across to my managers, Firman and Andre, who look scared and get another cop to come into their book. I inwardly laugh at their stupidity, before returning my attention back to Christine.

"I have come here, hardly knowing the reason why," Christine continues singing. "In my mind, I've already imagined our bodies intwining, defenseless and silent." I watch as the thin sleeves of Christine's dress fall off her shoulders as she turns and looks at me. "Now I am here with you no second thoughts; I've decided. Decided." I take a deep breath to calm the desire I feel coursing through me. I knew my music could affect other people, but I didn't know it could affect me.

"Past the point of no return," Christine sings as we walk towards the staircases we are to climb. "No going back now. Our passion-play has now begun. Past all thought of right or wrong. One final question, how long should we to wait before we're one? When will the blood begin to race the sleeping bud burst into bloom? When the flame ,at last, consume us?"

I throw my cape off as we both begin to walk towards each other. "Past the point of no return," we both sing. "The final threshold. The bridge is crossed so stand and watch it burn." I spin Christine around so she is leaning her back against me as I lay my hands over her. "We've pasted the point of no return," we continue to sing as I bring our intertwined hands up to her collar bone.

*Christine's POV*

As I lean back against Erik, I think of everything we have been through together. He became my angel of music when I needed him most. He trained my voice so I could become a star. He was there when I needed him most and needed a shoulder to cry on. He gave me his music and all his love, all that he has. And what have I done in return. I betrayed him, got engaged to someone else, and almost refused to not play the part he made specifically for me. He gave me all he had and I gave him nothing, but heartbreak in return. I don't deserve his love, but I want it; I want Erik because I love him.

"Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime," I hear Erik sing lightly in my ear. "Lead me, save me from my solitude. Say you'll want me with you here beside you." I feel Erik pull away and take my hands as I turn and look up at his face. "Anywhere you go, let me go too. Christine, that's all I ask of you."

I can't control the tear that slides down my face as I take Erik's face between my hands and press my lips against his. I hear the audience applaud as we kiss, but all that mattered in that moment was me and Erik. We eventually pulled away for air and I leaned my forehead against Erik's. "I choose you, Erik," I whisper, so only he can hear it. A look of shock passes over his face. He opens his mouth to say something, but is interrupted by the sound of a gun being fired.

I hear the sound of people screaming from the noise. I hug Erik tight as I look from where the noise came from. "That was not part of the script," I hear a voice yell from Box 5. I turn my head, so I'm looking at Box 5. The sight is terrifying; I see Raoul standing on the railing of box with his pistol aimed at me and Erik with a crazed look in his eyes. "You know the script says you almost kiss, it doesn't say you actually kiss," Raoul says, angrily.

"Well, the show must go on," I say in a shaky voice, as I pull Raoul's engagement ring off and place it on the railing in front of me.

"Why did you take the ring off," Raoul asks, cocking his gun at me.

"Because I love Erik, not you," I say as I hug Erik tighter.

"Big mistake," Raoul says, turning the gun towards Erik. "Say goodbye Opera Ghost."

"Goodbye," Erik says as he kicks a lever in front of us. He holds me closer to him as we fall through a hole the lever opened. I hear a gunshot go off as the hole above us close.

We both breath a sigh of relief. "Christine," I hear Erik say as I turn to look at him. "Do you really love me?"

"Yes," I answer. "When we were singing, I realized that you were always there for me and gave me everything you had and I gave you nothing in return. I always felt that I was missing something and when I'm with you, I realized that I need your love. I know I don't deserve it, but will you give me a chance to prove the love I have for you?"

I see a smile spread across Erik's face. "Of course I will," he says as I rush up and hug him. "I've always hoped this day would come, I thought it would only happen in my dreams."

"You deserve someone much better than me," I mumble in his chest.

I feel Erik pull away and gently take my chin so I'm looking him in the eyes. "You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, Christine," he says, gazing into my eyes lovingly. "You are the reason I am alive. Without you, I would have died a long time ago. I love you, Christine, and I want no one else. Remember that."

I have tears running down my face by the time Erik is done talking. "I love you too, Erik," I say as I pull his mask off. "I love every part of you." I place a hand on his deformity and kiss his cheek to prove it. I then kiss his lips, with my hand still on his deformed cheek.

I feel Erik wrap his arms around my waist and pull me closer to him. As I kiss the man I love, I realize that my life feels complete. I found the person I was meant to be with and his name is Erik Destler, my angel of music.
