We lingered through the night
and mingled here in vain
They singled out our only light
and interred it like a shame

Though we tried our hearts faded
In the lies of what we held
No cloudless skies left consecrated
No single cause despite ourselves

Like dying embers in a waning glow
There was little semblance to remain
No remembrance that we know
could relent the final rain

Humanity is a sea of scars
wounded indeed from head to heart
How can we see the passing stars
wandering and blindly drifting apart?
